I was at Glastonbury that year too, the last year before security was tightened and the super wall was erected. The number of people in site was crazy, the crowd for Bowie was vast. Good times.

The Three EPs is a magnificent thing. One of the great lost bands. I was at this Glastonbury in 2000 and somehow managed to miss them (can't remember how!) but I did see Bowie give that now legendary performance on the Pyramid stage so it wasn't all bad!

Seen them in a tiny club in Glasgow (about 700 people) and they were awesome, all the band were constantly changing instruments and positions (steve on drums, drummer on keys etc), i also seen them at this Glastonbury in 2000 but i can't for the life of me remember what was first. The Three EPs is a must have record from this period in time, still sounds great and hasn't really aged very much.

I'm pretty certain the gig in Glasgow would've been first. I reckon you're on about either the G2 gig in 1998, or The Cat House which was only a few days before this Glastonbury performance in 2000.

@@scottw.3258 It was the G2 ! I can't believe that was 98, in my mind those 2 gigs were like weeks apart.

Gordon Anderson left the Beta's after the recording of 'The Champion Versions ep', which this song was on. He went on to record his own music under the name 'Lone Pigeon'. Why 'Lone Pigeon'? The Beta Band were originally called 'The Pigeons'. He's released a number of albums recorded on 8 tracks, at his home in Fife. A number of the songs went on to be fully fleshed out when he joined Robin Jones and John MacLean as 'The Aliens' recording two albums, 'Astronomy for Dogs', and 'Luna' (both albums are well worth checking out). When the Beta Band split, Rich Greentree went on to form a band called 'The General and Duchess Collins' and released one album called 'Calling Earth', a brilliant album. As mentioned Robin Jones and John MacLean went on to form 'The Aliens' with Gordon Anderson. The other member mentioned, Steve Duffield, had previously been in a band called 'Knave' and 'The Mild Mannered Janitors'. He later teamed back up with Steve Mason on Steve's solo albums. Robin Jones also has another band called 'The Roman Noseband'. They've released 'Roman Noise', 'Repercharge', and 'Herbanne Mastodon', all brilliant. John MacLean has moved into film and made two shorts called 'Man on a Motorcycle', and 'Pitch Black Heist'. He also made the feature film 'Slow West', all films star Michael Fassbender. Round about this time, there was some amazing music being made. Beck was in his pomp, Radiohead were massive fans of the Beta's and were heavily influenced by them in the early 2000's, The Super Furry Animals were in top form, Gomez were ripping it up, Eels, Flaming Lips, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Cornershop, Air...So many fantastic bands all producing unbelievable music all around this late 90's - early 00's period, all with varying levels of experimentation going on.

Hey, Bob - Got your latest message to me via KoFi. Sorry I haven't responded yet, but just to say fascinating and will be responding soon via email. It's one of those 'take-time-to-think-before-writing' replies, as what you shared was so awesome.
