Newbie! Bozo in the morning?! 😂 True Bozo fans watched it during lunch. You ran home from school to watch it during lunch. You kids 😢. Living in Lagrange in the early 1970s, I had Blue Schwinn Typhoon, a Skateboard with clay wheels, high top Keds and a Corgi Batmobile, I was King of the world.
I was in either HS or college and I would watch a little bit of Bozo, Sharon Lois and Bram OR Tom & Jerry before going to school just to have something to watch before a day of classes
From as many mornings as I watched this game, I have a strong appreciation for how rare and difficult it was to hit all six buckets. This kid went at it without even thinking, legend.
On another upload, a guy posted he was one that did win. His postcard was read and a bike showed up at his house and he was in their town paper. Another guy said a box full of prizes showed up at his from a different taping. What awesome memories as a kid when things were so special and exciting!
@@nicholeperry64 I wonder how they did the out of state prizes for those not in the chicago(land) area? Like birthday cake from Chicago bakery,7 11 & your state has none, cubs tickets, hair cut from local salon, etc
Oh my God The Bozo Show, this brings so much memories I was 7 years old and I saw this show. God I wish I was back in time again. I love The Bozo Show.🤡
Lot of people thought that they were rigged or picked them prior to the show so it won't take that time for someone to look at the numbers and then have to walk down. Probably the same thing about the wheel of fortune except they called out people's names instead. But..on that let's make a deal show it looked convenient when the "potential winner" would be sitting closer to the front. The new version of that show was not nearly as good as the old original one. That, and few more like the whammy show I can't think of and especially family feud that show has been done to death and not as good as the very first ones. Little creepy what one of the hosts did. I'm sure y'all know which one, the touchy feely kisses women and underage very young girls on the mouth.moslty preteen. Wouldn't happen again his ass wouldn't be on the sex offender register list.
@@Nancy-hy5so Yes, they were picked before the show. I went three times. They'd pick contestants for the various games while people were in line waiting to get in.
I live 45 from Philly so I watched the Local Bozo show here. I only saw one kid win it. N I just saw that for the 1st time like 5 min ago on here lol. She was so happy when she won. The grand prize for the last bucket was a 13 in color tv with a remote
At 4:53 Dude, put his arm around him and said "Let's all go to your house and play" And Bozo was like "Yeaaaa!!! I almost lost my lunch laughing so hard at that!!!😂😂😂
I attended two telecasts of Bozo back in 1976. I wanted to play the Grand Prize Game so badly, but the arrows didn't fall my way. (They had the camera move around real fast with arrows on the screen and would stop on a kid to be chosen to play back then) I had a Grand Prize Game set to practice at home, which I did the night before I went to the show. We had a connection to get on the show without waiting because my cousin worked for Tru-Link Fence that advertised on WGN at the time. Because of this, mother and I got to lead the Grand March at the end of the show. My mother told me that if I were older, I would have probably gotten to play the relay race game later in the show.
Always look on the bright side; you could have been selected for the Grand Prize Game and after all your practice at home, had the ball bounce out of the second bucket. We'd seen it happen more than once.
This was the show to watch growing up in the 80s , always wanted to play grand prize game or just have my mail in selected lol. Bozo Was always giving away great prizes back then
The live music created so much enthusiasm. Even the adult game shows with the music loops made those exciting. So many early decades trying to put positive and enthusiastic events into our world. You have to believe that these creators really wanted to make a difference. ❤
I was on the Bozo show and got to play the Grand Prize Game. It was early 1970's. It was when Mr. Ned was on. I only made it to bucket number 3. I made it in to bucket number 4 and it bounced out and into bucket number 5, but neither bucket counted. I still have the Bozo Button and the Uno card deck.
I'm 56 and watched the original Bozo 50 yrs ago. Was a big fan. My two older brothers ripped the head off my Bozo the clown doll in a tug-o-war. I've never forgiven them. lol.....
I remember watching this as a child . There was a child whom was disabled and missed the first bucket. And Bozo stepped on the ball and said it was a bad ball and let the child try again.
The Bozo in Philly was literally like krusty the clown. As a kid me and my sisters were in the audience at a taping at wgbs 57 and i remember the clown was smoking 🚬 and apparently buzzed😂 One of my greatest childhood memories 😂
The poor fool was probably hungover from the night before. I don't begrudge him sipping from a flask or a paper bag when he had to tolerate a crowd of screaming kids every weekday morning. Hell, _I'd_ probably have a keg set up my dressing room.
Obviously the inspiration for Krusty the Clown... It amazes me how the dude could keep his composure playing this character 5 days a week for an entire career...
Me too. I turn 46 this Friday and I often think about my childhood growing up in the 80’s. I truly believe in my heart it was the best decade to grow up in.
Based on how they're all dressed this looks more like the mid 70's than the 80's. Clarks Desert Boots were the height of fashion for boys in the Chicago area about 1975 - I know, because I was one of them.
The cadence of saying "Grand-Prize-Game" triggered a core memory like I was a sleeper cell. Also, damn those are great prizes. That wagon was the real deal.
My good friend Brian’s mom put his name in for tickets shortly after he was born. When he was about 10 or 11, he got to go to the show. He got called up for the Grand Prize Game and because he’d been practicing for weeks, he hit bucket 6 and took home $50 and that new bike! I was so jealous! That’s still got to be one of the best memories of his life! That dude became an instant celebrity, and a legit legend!
Huuuge waiting list for tickets to see this legendary show in the 90’s. My mom signed up when I was 6 or 7 yrs old…didn’t get tickets until I was 13. They were free..maybe we should have paid🤷♂️
What A Grand Prize Game Celebrating Victory! Didn't Happen too often! Hats off to Anthony Frasher! Glad that moment was Recorded for him! 1980s was a Great Time! Joey D'Auria aka 2nd Bozo Really picked right up where Original Bozo Bob Bell had left off! Thank-You For Sharing and God Bless!
My favorite part of the Bozo show. I always remember how smug they were on bucket 1-3, but then it starts going off the rails around bucket 4, it gets real.
my brother won 5 bucks on the Bozo show in the late 1960s!! He and I were in the audience and he got picked to go up and play this same game. However, on the last bucket they placed a five dollar bill in it and he had to bounce the ball into the bucket. He won!! Five bucks to a kid at that time was un-imaginable.
This show just made me realize how F'd up society is today. The innocence of kids when I grew up. To days spoiled brats that have phones, money and no respect for others.
@@mikekinsella2822sure is. The 90’s babies are the ones everyone was scared of. The beginning of the rude kid gen. Though it’s been around since the 60’s.
Even the station that cancelled Bozo (WGN) aren't saints either. They replaced it with their morning news show which nothing more than so called journalists trying out for SNL rather than doing actual reporting
I remember people getting over confident on the first 3 buckets... and losing.. There were no other channels on TV to watch besides this in the morning! ;)
Man, I thought my dyno bmx bike was cool but that bike he has is actually pretty sick. Like the gold and black detail. Always wanted to be in the bozo show too
I had a black and gold Huffy Pro thunder Pro 3 when I was growing up. I stupidly parked it next to the English Yew bush in the front yard of the townhome I grew up in and someone stole it.
For sure…buckets 1, 2 and 3 were easy for him….but he did have great aim to hit the last 3….even with Bozo crowding the plate on bucket 6 😂…dude nailed it!
Went to the Bozo show 1975. It was as then i learned that it wasn’t a big circus. The whole set wasn’t much bigger than school classroom. Couple hundred people jammed onto a small bleacher and the stage a little bigger our living room. I never watched bozo with the same awe of a child after that day.
I'm older... had Bob Bell as Bozo. The show was on at noon... I'd hurry home from 1st grade to get lunch & watch a bit of Bozo... The children were selected for the Grand Prize Game by 'Magic Arrows' in the cameras... the cameramen would pan around while these arrows flashed on the TV & when the action stopped, if the arrows were pointing to a boy or girl, that boy or girl would be the contestant. One thing stayed the same... #6 prize was a Schwinn bike!
I was late to school so many times and got called into the principal's office to explain why. Principal, I had to finish watching the GRAND PRIZE GAME!
