The ability to look focused while being somewhere else is something I mastered as a child. I learned to pay just enough attention to be able to answer the questions mom would eventually ask in the middle of her lengthy tirades about whatever I did. It made all the difference in my childhood 🤣🤣.
@@stephentietz2144 Me trying to look like I understood a damned thing our teenaged daughter says is so exhausting. I want her to feel like she's being heard, but she starts talking about the things the kids talk about now, and I glaze over. I maybe didn't like what mom was saying, but I totally understood it. Sometimes, I think dealing with mom upset was easier than dealing with our daughter happily chatting my ears off. 😉
I can’t speak for him, but I’m going to guess he has a full time job outside of RU-vid and this social media stuff is merely a hobby. I’ll guess RU-vid doesn’t pay as well as the 9-5
@@_bobjohnson1157 Just depends. Since he doesn't only post this stuff on RU-vid and sells merchandise he possibly could make this a full time job. But I imagine he's just enjoying the nice boost in income instead.
Got asked this dumb shit once at a shop meeting at my company actually, dunno if they wanted a laugh or what but I gave my honest answer, money, then I was strangely asked if that was truly my only motivation like I'm supposed to have another, I told him "stop paying us and see if anybody shows up tomorrow" and the whole damn circle cracked up laughing
This reminds me.... A couple months back I was expecting a large paycheck.. so I checked my account and my paycheck didn't arrive.. long story short payroll thought I quit. If it wasn't for my boss taking my side and having certain words for them. I would not have showed up next day
Why do you show up to work Well see I have this condition called "being alive" and while its expensive as fuck, I'd like to keep doing it. And I need money for that. So money is the only correct answer
Money. The answer is always money. If anyone says anything else, they're lying. 99% of the time, it's money. The other 1% are those insane stories you hear about people trying to find cures for sick loved ones, or having an unhealthy obsession with a specific job that turns into a crippling addiction to work. It's always money, and that's what it should be. Your job should never be more than a tool to enable you to live the life you want to live outside of work. Some people desire lives that require them to constantly push themselves for more money. But make no mistake, nearly every single working adult in the game of life is mainly in it for money.
I got that crippling addiction to work, first day off in 7 years and I was losing my shit not being able to do work 2 weeks ago. Need something to do all the time.
@Tanner Edge How the hell is he going to know what kind of content we wanna see (not that it matters and he’s the creator and he can do whatever he wants) if we don’t tell him. if I could reach through the screen and give you a smack for being so condescending I sure would
The part about starring at someone and it looks like I'm focused and listening but I'm actually day dreaming about racecars... yeah I felt that 100 percent
Kinda crazy cause it's alot those mf in the world ... And really don't know shit .. they daddy or grandfather got them out there straight outta highschool
Honestly if people didn't need money to survive or had all the money they could ever want I guarantee no one would want to work. Of course nothing would ever get done or at least not in the way were familiar with. Even people who like or are content with their job would much rather be doing anything else then spending their time working plain and simple
I like it. Keeps me busy and alcohol free. At home I just drink from sun up til bedtime. lol But really, I do. It's my social life. I like my crew, I like being strong. Sure kicks my ass but I find it healthier for me than trying to stress about being responsible every day. routine is peace.
@@Kryynism Glad to hear that, for me I would spend my days working on my hobbies and volunteering at my local train museums. I'd be busy but also having fun. I'd also travel a bit more and go on road trips. But that's just me.
More time spent training the newhires than actually doing the job they get paid for, I'd be pissed too since you don't get double time for it. After all juggling your job and makin' sure the newbie doesn't off himself before getting paid medical are two full plates in and of themselves, ESPECIALLY if the newbie in question doesn't know how a hammer works. Which is a problem I never thought I'd see past the age of 8.
I was in a class in the off season. I was 7 years in taking three classes. I was sitting next to a kid in his 3 year of being in the union. It was a class to get certified to measure distance from given points. He didn't know how to use a tape measure 😢 I feel everyone should buy old cars and definitely old homes. This place is going to shit. Good luck
2:44; I do, Carpenter here, and I’ve been swing a hammer on the clock since I was 14 now at 41 I’m still as happy today as I ever was. The great thing about being a carpenter is I can do your job but you can’t do mine! Now if that’s nothing to smile about I don’t know what is!!
Can confirm life as the bossman is great when everyone knows what to do. I don't even have to say nothing to anyone at times. My record going without giving a single order is 3.
Forty years. For forty years Roscoe was waiting to share this wisdom he was blessed with on his own first day. Also, how old is Ricky, if he was among the first three employees of this 40-year old company?
"I have bills to pay, I need to fill my fridge, I get paid barely enough to keep me from looking for another job, and finding another job is a pain in the ass."
A bad day fishing/hunting is better than any day working. Agree if it wasn't for my need to eat regularly and not live under a bridge and stand on a ramp holding a "I'm too lazy to work" sign. I wouldn't be working either. But I guess it's because I was taught if you want something, work for it. Don't expect someone to give it to you.
Had a boss once say to me "where's the integrity in people anymore wanting the holiday off it's like people just work for the money these days." I refuse to believe he didn't take holidays off when he was younger.
I do hardwood floors. And I hate all you assholes! I've done so many board replacements different people being ignorant. Contrary to popular belief hardwood floors aren't really that hard they scratch if you look at them funny. And once you have to take a floor part from the middle because of two or three fucked up boards it ain't never the same. The best one was a plumber that hooked up a toilet on the second floor on a Friday afternoon come Monday morning 1200 ft of bamboo flooring glue directly to slab ruined give me my partner a week and a half to tear that shit out so yeah fuck the plumbers, but no reality is usually the site supervisor fault for being so far behind schedule that he has to have people come in after us we're supposed to be the last ones besides the cleaning people in that house new construction I'm talking about here. Oh yeah and a double fuck you to The appliance guys we still can't figure out how to install an under counter dishwasher without destroying four or five boards right in front of the thing. Okay that's all thanks for letting me vent .
(In the voice of Roscoe)... NOW LISTEN UP, now me & Ricky don't agree on much, but uh...THATS info you NEW guys need!...go on Ricky, tell it like it IS!
One I live where I work I enjoy and love what I do at the group home ya there's bad days but that's anywhere you go pick your battles carefully don't sweat the small shit don't le/ anybody walk on you and you're good
It's funny that this video popped up today. I was thinking about a similar prank on my last day on my current project. A lot of ppl here think I'm a mole already lol
Simple. Ricky is the owner, but not the founder. Roscoe founded the company but when he got to 198 years old it just got boring so he handed it over to Ricky
Ricky “ inherited “ the company from Rosco, and is Rosco’s stepson by his 3rd ex-wife. The first and second oldest stepsons use pronouns, and the 3rd in line is a software developer for google…. Ricky was it.
What motivates me? Having a place to live and food to eat. I have heard coworkers say if they stopped paying them they would still come to work because they love it so much. Which is what we call in the business complete and total bullshit.
Does it count that I make my self like being a steam fitter because I have at least 30 more years of an awesome career? I've met people that hate it and still show up because it's work but honestly. It's great because there are so many different jobs to do that it is not like any single plain job that normies have. I can be building a pipeline, maintaining a refinery or building any sort of energy plant. All of the above options smacks the sh!t out of an office job(that most deffently pays less). Ua 663!
The youths today aren't much different from others before them. They lack any desire to be responsible for results, they would rather someone else be in charge of them and have to answer for the job.
I know lots of 50 year olds that aren't worth a bag of broken hammer handles. I'd take a almost any 20 year old over a old guy that is a legend in his own mind
Just keep that fly zipped and watch your pockets swell! Believe me, there are too many men out that can't make the connection between taking their pants off and wondering how their money escapes!
To some extent safety guy is a joke. But you get out what you put in if you're working at the right place. Small businesses that treat you good are where it's at no safety dick good pay and they cant afford to not have you if you're a worker.
if you are a pipeline welder.... Ricky is on the money 95% of the time on this one... the other 5% keep it in their pants .. or only take the scraps of the checks to keep the peace.
