Pakalolo was my occasional recreational drug from 1980 until I quit for good in 1999. For me it made me lazy I nevah like do notting but watch MTV all stoned! Ice... tried it a few times in 1987 and said no can do no more not for me I no like stay up all night and I like eat.
I’m a local haole about your age Andy, and I went school in Kailua. Kill Haole Day was the last day of school. Not a random day…at least in Kailua. It was kinda for real too. I actually went da last day one year (cuz I thought it was bs). I didn’t get beat up, but a gang of mokes grabbed me and sprayed me with water and covered me with shaving cream. That was the first and last time I went to the last day of school. 😁

Green harvest was one of the worst government policies for middle class local families in the 80s and 90s. Yup. For sure batu/ice came in and destroyed too many ohanas in the 90s. But check dis out. One of the worst things too in my opinion was this. Choke of my familes use to grow little bit for burn with da family and friends and sell on da side. Then green harvest started for even spray the six or seven plants in they yard. Choke guys got popped and jail action followed. What was the effects from this aggressive policy for local families? Not considering the families that had the cops or side contracts with the PD. Cause they made out good. 20+ year career potentialy with pension, medical, nice house and stuffs ladat. This what went follow. Middle class local familes lost that side income. Birthdays, 1st birthday luaus, christmas and stuffs ladat wen happen. Local small business wen suffer all around. Memories nevah get as good as could. But dis is da worst. Da syndicate dat was funded by pakalolo was local. Dey was vested in the communties dey ran. Huge money was cycling through da state and staying in da islands. When da pakalolo money wen dry up. One new syndicate came in with no live for the communities. They wen flood our communities with ice and sent the money out. Halawa was filled with the bradahs who got in this game. But the vietnamese, chinese, filipino and mexican gangs dat did this was the bad batch ones. The plantatiin batch was the good ones. And stuffs ladat more.
Eh Andy, you no like make pakalolo legal in Hawaii. I was born and raised in Hawaii, stay living in Colorado now, where pakalolo is legal. Wen pakalolo came legal ovah hea, choke people wen move hea just so dey can smoke pakalolo and no get in trouble wit da law. Now get to much people and more homeless people, something Hawaii no need, more homeless. Honolulu to crowded already, you guys don't need more homeless people in da state. I mentioned my "Kill Haole Day" experience in your other Local Haole segment. auwe Andy how many time you goin talk about us? Nah nah just joking it's all good braddah. 🤣 Anyway more on that day... I never saw any haole get lickins not even myself. I only had like 3-4 incidents and all was minor kine but still it was about establishing dominance at me which I did not care for. Years ago there was one young lady on facebook that said that she doubted anything happened back then and I had to explain my incidents and what we had to try avoid.... mainly da last day of school!
Funny about the musubis because my daughter just made choke musubis for tonight's New Years Eve dinner, lol! But seriously, I been there done that and have to say that we don't need one more readily available mind-altering substance to worry about. I see young folks in my workplace already challenged with coming to work on time, keeping their minds on the job, and taking work seriously. Just my humble manao on that.
I like the Migrated Hawaiian design a lot! I am fourth generation from families who immigrated to Hawaii from Japan, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico to work the sugar cane plantations. I think it would be neat to make a shirt for locals who are just that, local through and through but not actually of Hawaiian decent.
I 100% agree with when you were talking about your daughter at a party. Funny and true. When you were talking about FLIP, reminds of my mom when we used to and still when I come home, play cards she will say "Flip, FLIP!" lol because we get some Filipino blood. Makes me buss out laughing all the time. I going get her that shirt :)

Great one Andy..........Thank you for having the same idea about Pakalolo as I do. It is legal here in Ore. and I think it was a HUGE mistake. Your really not free to smoke and and enjoy, due to all the regs. And those who thought they could make millions can't put in the bank, banks won't allow it. you make me laugh talking about kill Haole Day. Every day was KHD when I was 7th grade and my parents moved to Kahaluu to try sa e me from "being one tug" I was the only Haole in Waihole school and had to scrap Alla time untill a Portogee kid name Alvin Champlain enrolled in Waihole. I was saved! I was designated Portogee, Chapman and Champlin sound same thing! Never had to scrap again until Castle High.
