I hadn't seen this doco before, but I do have Charlie's book, and it is one of my favorites about Elvis. I don't know why people refuse to believe Elvis had bone cancer, if Dr Nick had tests done on Elvis to diagnose. It would explain why Elvis was taking such high dose pain killers, the poor man. Along with the mega colon, which would have been excruciating at times, and the glaucoma, enlarged heart, is it any wonder he had trouble sleeping, and was in pain so much? And most people around him said he was taking too many pills, and was high on them, or drugged to the point where he couldn't function properly. He tried so hard to keep his illness from everyone so he could keep going, and look what it did to him. Years of criticism for drug taking. The poor, poor man, I could cry with the injustice. What a relief it must have been for his soul to depart that tired body.
@@TCB0816I’m not doubting you but, where did you hear this? Charlie said Dr.Nick said it and he waited till Vernon died to say anything about it. I find Charlie to be one of the most credible around Elvis
@@TCB_MAMAI don't remember who told me this, it's been years ago. I think I heard it in an interview , could have been Lamar Fike or Sam Thompson I guess...I don't think Charlie was very credible, he might have lied or Vernon told Dr. Nick to say that to make it look serious. Who knows...after so many years...Kathy Westmoreland said as well in her book Elvis told her he had cancer...but I was never able to find out what is really the truth about this.
Charlie was a true friend to Elvis. I am so glad that Elvis had Charlie. Thank you so much Charlie for the friendship, love and care you always gave Elvis.
I met Charlie several times in the 80s and then in the 90s I got to know him a little bit. What an amazing human being. When someone asked me who I think Elvis’ best friend was, outside of Gladys, I always say Charlie Hodge. Loyal to the end 🙏🏻♥️
1000%. What a great man. I wish I had gotten to even shake Charlie’s hand or give him a huge hug. He was a beautiful soul and I hope he is so happy reunited with Elvis.
Love this I believe like Billy Smith, his first cousin and Charlie was the really mostly them too, or his good friends that he could trust❤I miss Elvis the KING of ROCK and his good friend Charlie Hodge) especially a I miss Elvis ❤ beautiful music. I listen to it every day.
I love watching and listening about the life of our beloved Elvis. Charlie was the very closest to Elvis so he would know the real truths about him. I bet they are in heaven just playing it up having the best of time just like here on earth but much better. I never knew EP had bone cancer. He is free if all his pain now for sure. I thank you Charlie for sharing the friendship and life you had with Elvis. Anyone would have loved to be in your shoes. Thank you for taking such good care of him.
Thank you for this great documentary. I've long been looking for an honest pure story of Elvis. It id so difficult to discern between truth and lies and rumours.
If you really want a TRUE story that would be Billy Smith n his wife Joe...Not saying Charlie didn't tell the truth..But honesty would be Billy Smith..He knew everything about Elvis from the day they were born... Elvis confided everything in him.. Elvis knew who loved n cared for him without judgement and would never go against him...
@@heidivanooijen-blezer142 Billy Smith n his wife Joe have a podcast on RU-vid...and Danny is a cousin of Elvis n he grew up at Graceland. He also has a podcast now called " We always do Elvis... Interesting, because it's getting true life on Elvis...Stay safe..
I think I like Charlie the most from his entourage, he seems the most genuine. Iv read all of the books about Elvis from other people close to him and Charlie seems to be a whole lot more in my mind. X
Charlie was an easy going guy who was always there for Elvis. Probably the easiest to get along with. All the people who claimed they were Elvis' best friend, Charlie never claimed it, I think he was always the most low key of the people surrounding him. He was always there and he was the one person Elvis could always count on. He was there on stage and off. He always supported him.
If Elvis had had bone cancer it would have been noted in the original autopsy. The autopsy was reviewed twice by noted pathologist. One of those times was for Dr. Nick’ trial. All three stated he died from a heart arrhythmia due to chronic use of prescription drugs. Something as serious as Bone cancer would have been found,
Something as big as bone cancer would be found if it was looked for,or it wasn't put on the certificate..We already knew how Elvis was in bad shape ( Medically) We don't need to know everything...All we need to know is that we miss him n he gave so much to us...
@@MarneyII I know he got hooked on uppers in the army .The bone cancer is debatable...You do know there were two autopsy reports..One that had to be made for the public and Vernon paid 390 dollars to have the other saved for fifty years.. Seems everyone knows everything but no one knows anything...
Elvis Charlie Huges one EAP best friend Elvis made Pure Gold did so much is best all of Guys stood by Side Buy house Brand new cars Elvis was so amazing to Friend
We only have 3 more years before the results are made public record, correct? 08/16/2027? If he were sick like that today he could have seen specialists for each of his problems and they could have removed some of his colon
Elvis considered Charlie and many of the guys around him as "friends"....not sure they all deserved the title. They all exaggerated and blew their time with Elvis out of context...and weren't always honest in their "story telling". Elvis definitely had no plans nor intention to marry Priscilla.....the decision was never Elvis', a prime example of ignorance on Charlie's part on a lot of important things. For Charlie Hodge to promote Priscilla and André the Alien is another example of his close ties with the wrong parties, not necessarily always for Elvis. Elvis was too trusting and too kind for his own good. God Bless and Rest his soul 🕊️❤️⚡💯
elvista: you think ELVIS didn't want to marry PRECILLA, then he wouldn't of done it. But, he took her to live with him, he lived her, kept her in Graceland and he cheated on her. She was humiliated workd wide. How would you feel if you where her.She finally had enough, and needed for someone to make her feel like a woman. I DONT blame her, I would've left too. 😮
@@lilliangilbert4986Priscilla came to live with Vernon not Elvis. Elvis did not even contact Priscilla for months after leaving Germany, even though she kept writing him. It was 3yrs before Elvis ever saw her again. That's when she pleaded to be able to come for a visit during the summer. After she went back to Germany, she played the brat, told Elvis she was failing school and would not be able to graduate. Then pleaded for him to call her father to let her come live in Memphis. Elvis told her father, Priscilla could come live with his father and Dee's family and he would pay for her to go to a private catholic school in Memphis and make sure she graduated, Elvis was in CA. most all of this time filming movies. Priscilla decided she didn't like living at Vernon's and moved herself in Graceland without Elvis even knowing.
This is a cautionary tale as to how the 👑 deteriorated right in front if everyone,, charlie coming up with the cancer story to explain the king eating the most potent cancer treatment painkiller Dilaudid like candy, that says it all "enablers" even after he's gone, Charlie is still making excuses for him. Vernon's not around to back up the story nor is Dr Nick. I've never heard anyone in Dr Nick's family say it? I never heard Dr Nick say it?You're just going to have to take Mr Hodges word for it. And everyone keeps saying to the Memphis Mafia why didn't you stop him,, This is why
@@piecesofep lol ✌ I love the 👑 I love the good the bad & the ugly. On his last trip to Hawaii hes wearing his drug enforcement jacket 🤘 hell yea! That's why he was the king, he did it his way, & I love the stories,, the real ones! Thanks for uploading this! 🙏
@@lilliangilbert4986 You talking about charlie saying he had cancer? Are there medical records that are sealed until that date? I would bet the farm Memphis Hospital doesn't say Elvis had cancer. Lol but that sure will be an interesting story
@@piecesofep Charlie Hodge didn't want the memo! He just did what he wanted to do and mooched off of Elvis as they all did. Disgraceful grown men. There was a book written by Dee Stanley ( Vernon's second wife ) that stated Elvis had bone marrow cancer. I think she may have been the one to start this but I wonder if she knew something....
@sharonlindseay3980 Doesn't mean shit. You could've been born in 1840, and you still wouldn't know. You weren't there WITH them. You didn't know them, what they thought, so still, you don't know shit.
You can tell the slightest bit of plastic surgery on his face took away from Elvis. Notice that one picture with Charlie in the car? That looks like post plastic surgery that Elvis did not need. Gingers book cover also has Elvis post surgery with his eyes. Notice his eyes are not the same.
@@piecesofep The Bone Cancer story has come from two sources who say that Elvis himself told them - Charlie Hodge and Kathy Westmoreland. Marty Lacker flatly denies it stating Vernon was worried about someone leaking sh*t to the press, so he started that rumour to see who would tell, but when Lacker was confronted by Kathy Westmoreland during an interview with Larry King, instead of reiterating what Vernon had done and why, Lacker instead changed his story to "Well Elvis had a good imagination". It made me wonder if Marty Lacker was being truthful because if what he had said in regards to Vernon and what he had done and why was true, then why didn't Lacker simply reiterate it? Also, with that change of story, he's actually suggesting Elvis told Kathy Westmoreland that story so he would garner sympathy and maybe get her to stay with him. Can anyone see Elvis doing that for that reason? He could still have any woman he wanted but not only that Kathy Westmoreland by all accounts was not only his girlfriend but she was also a very close friend of his, as was Linda Thompson, and I just can't envision Elvis doing that to a friend of his.
Unfortunately, you also betrayed Elvis, Charlie, and sided with Priscilla, playing along with her and distorting the truth about their relationship. Elvis never loved Priscilla, he was indifferent to her, we know very well the reason for his marriage to her. You're lying, Charlie, when you say Elvis was overwhelmed and decided to marry Priscilla. You did not protect Elvis's good name from any slander. You were never a real friend to Elvis. The whole "Memphis Mafia" thing was never worth Elvis's friendship. You were never worthy of Elvis' attention or his friendship. May your treachery and your lies remain forever with you and with Elvis' number one enemies named Priscilla and Parker.
@ValeSan-ir8on Wow! That's some attack on Charlie Hodge. There were two people in the Memphis Mafia who were loyal to Elvis Presley to their graves and that was Joe Esposito and Charlie Hodge. Lamar, Red, Sonny, Billy Smith and Marty Lacker who liked to call themselves "The Original Memphis Mafia" were a clique in the Memphis Mafia and they all dumped on Elvis Presley's Legacy, and reputation. Joe Esposito's second wife, Martha, was diagnosed with an incurable Cancer and so Joe was in desperate need to pay for her medical bills, but instead of writing a tell all book which would have got him millions, he instead wrote a book that was of love and respect. Yeah he told some home truths to speak of but nothing that wasn't already known, but he never expressed them with a bitterness and revenge, he expressed them with respect and love. Charlie had nothing but good things to say about Elvis - he never disrespected him or his legacy and he ahs shown his Love for Elvis Presley time and time and time again. That he thought Elvis and Priscilla were in love, why is he betraying Elvis by believing such a thing? I only know Prisclla never loved Elvis because of what she has revealed over the years, but I don't know at all whether or not Elvis loved Priscilla at one time or another... There might have been a time when he did...... who knows....
@@Della624no. Joe was NOT a "friend" to Elvis behind his back. Apart from his own blood cousins and relatives, Elvis Presley knew exactly what the men around him were about. Charlie Hodge was loyal until after Elvis died....then he, along with Jerry Schilling became Priscilla's lackeys for financial and other gains. Esposito was always in cahoots with Priscilla and André the Alien to manipulate Elvis....no, they were not deserving of the title of "friend" to Elvis in the end. Elvis gave them all the benefit of the doubt....to his own detriment. Sad, really.
2 people that don't lie are JD, Charlie, and Jerry Schilling! These guys truly loved Elvis, and Elvis loved them all so much! Charlie JD Jerry all say the same Elvis loved Cilla, an yes he wanted to marry Cilla, cause he did in a interview Elvis said the best thing that ever happened to him was meeting an marrying her! ❤
Valerie san : you shut your pie hole, how dare you say that about Charlie and Pricilla they where the closest to ELVIS. IF HE WHERE HERE HE WOULD BITE YOUR HEAD OFF! 😂😂😂
Yes Charlie The Gopher Hodge He Was Always Full Of Bullshit. The Spy Of Graceland Just Like All Of The Memphis Mafia Bullies And Lied 🤥 About Everything They Could For Money 💰 Well Elvis’s Money 💰.
I wish I could read his book, no longer in print can’t afford what they are asking for a copy. Charlie seems like a true friend to Elvis. I wish they would put it back in print. 🥲
