The part of this that makes me feel better isn't just the obvious correct verdict but the fact that the jury had to know that it would enrage rioters and possibly risk their livelihoods or even their lives in delivering it. The were brave enough to say "we won't be intimidated". Good for them.

Kyle showed remarkable trigger discipline. He actually stopped firing when his attackers backed up and only fired when they encroached upon him again. This is the most clear-cut case of self-defense I've ever seen. I hope the prosecutors are disbarred for withholding evidence. It's unbelievable they brought any charges in the first place.

Oh? Was he at his father's house when this All happened? Was his father there with him & getting the crap beat out of him and Kyle was defending his father? It really comes down to what predicated him being in that Riot zone in the first place. I've carried a gun legally for years, exposed and concealed, As a civilian, You learn when you can use deadly force and you also get a feeling for how much trouble you're going to be in, even if it comes out in your favor if you have to pull that trigger. So many of the comments here are people talking off the top of their heads & in the abstract, with no experience and not thinking things through, any more than Kyle, a 17 -year-old kid did.

It is supporting a calm and peaceful community which would be beneficial for your community. Community building is the role of the current govt.. Voluntary community activity has limited success and usually moves slowly guided by the current local govt.. Almost ALL people claim they are too busy to participate in community activities. Mandatory community activity is socialism/Marxism and therefore, more govt. Organized religions have tried more community building, but have been thwarted due to unacceptable invested religious values conflicts. Simply claiming we need more community building without simultaneously offering accompanying outlines describing steps for attaining that end is just "ideas blowing in the wind." There was no reason for the governor issue a press release that he was calling up all of those national guardsman (500) several days before the case even went to the jury. BTW, why bring in 4 or 5 times more national guard for this jury verdict than he did when the riots were destroying the city? It was a threat to the jury that they need to come back with the verdict he wants.

If you run after someone and chase them down you are no longer an “unarmed” Victim, you are the aggressor. So simple. What are we doing here?

They are still a threat. You end the threat. This is the danger of a fight. Fight to win, not teach a lesson. Someone points a gun at you, you have every right to put them in the ground. Even if they then "run" the threat remains.

@@drew9584 wrong. If they run, by law they are fleeing the altercation, if you chase them you are legally the aggressor of the situation at that point. Whether they instigated the situation or not.

Last I checked It's not a fistfight if the opponent doesn't consent. It's an assault.

When he did that my jaw literally hit the floor! If I was in that jury, as a responsible gun owner and life long hunter, I'd have come unglued! You don't point a fricken gun at anyone! Even in gun stores when you're checking the gun out, you point it at the floor or clear of any live human!!!
