People need to peacefully protest and block the boat ramps to keep them from entering the lake. Peaceful protest. Lake Okeechobee used to beautiful. I literally cannot believe they are allowed to continue. The lake has taken such a hit from these chemicals. It is a crime against our world.
If we protest it will trigger all the uneducated conservatives who hate hippies and treehuggers when they need to realize if they were educated on these issues that affect them we'd be on same side. I'm always down for a good ol protest though and personally think it's a great idea. We'd for sure get arrestand then they'd bring armed cops next time. We jus jeed to keep showing this and spreading awareness and get people to stop voting for corrupt and inept officials.
@@kimm.5514 I just can't understand how private companies are contracted out to spray these lakes for money. The old spawning bays of Lake Okeechobee are ruined. What used to be hard bottom has all turned to muck. It is just crazy. It is just sad that the lake doesn't fish or look like it used to. It was just gorgeous.

Conservatives vote on party no matter what the history is on said person running for whatever office. My family is conservative and thinks global warming is fake and hate hippies, treehuggers, environmental groups and basically people who stand up for the environment. They love anything to do with more gas and oil and no govt restrictions on developers or corporations who are the ones destroying our water and land. I'm not confused. You say you support the environment but you destroy it with your votes for corrupt officials who want money and power and give zero f's about the ecosystems they destroy.
When these guys KILL lake okeechobee they will just move on to kill another lake somewhere else, it is a shame this is happening to a place where i have fished for 40+ years and soon it will be gone. Thanks FWC .
There is another way to fix the water hyacinth problem on lake Okeechobee and make a profit doing so. In simple terms, if you chop it up, ferment it, then distill it. You get 92% Ethanol. The solid by-product is an awesome fertilizer. Money made from Ethanol and money made from fertilizer. Besides the fact it would create jobs, and clean the lake at the same time. They figured it out in Africa, which is working beautifully by the way. Why would it not be done here.
A guy told me once he was in the military he was on a huge ship waiting to off load. The ship went out to sea a few miles dumped 1000's of oil in the sea. The man in the military couldn't understand why??? But in law enforcement, military, government and other jobs you just do what your told.
I am not the smartest guy but I kept a few fish tanks. I learned real quick that chemicals are only a temporary fix and usually create other problems. The right fix was always adding MORE life. Not killing things! My tanks ended up incredible, had crystal clear water and were almost maintenance free. People would look at them in awe and first thing they would say is "what chemicals do you use?". Somehow people have been conditioned to kill things to solve issues I guess.
We are from the government. We are here to help. We are armed with studies from universities that show how we can spend money we don't have to help our constituents receive contracts that make profits which in turn fund our re election. Praise the Lord...
This is a shameful destruction of such a beautiful body of water. They need to STOP! This is a staple fisherie that's known around the world, and they are destroying it. THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED....
This is horrible. How did you get the shots of these spray boats? Were you piloting a drone just overhead? They certainly weren't behaving in a manner that would suggest they knew anyone was watching them.
My lakes dead from this same thing. I bought a house for enjoying the water now its desolate the birds have left the area and theres no oxygen or food, for the breeding of fish or birds.
Sorry but the FWC is a political organization. They have totally lost sight of their original mission statement I have tried several times I'm a volunteer with Wildlife Commission but I have been shunned because of my opinions
