The difference between Shaun and Morgan is that Shaun's main priority is to save people's lives no matter the cost. Morgan, on the other hand, just wants to prove she's better than the other doctors, particularly in the eyes of the patients, so she often tries to play the hero. In this case, she failed miserably.
That’s not how I viewed it. I think Morgan was looking at it from Jazz’s career impact rather than potential live threatening situation. Shaun is very much safety first whereas Morgan took a risk to prevent potential sample taking damage, though that decision we know to be very costly.
Me, I think is mainly because Morgan’s competitive nature and the fact that she let her own emotions rule over her head get the best of her while Shaun is more focused and just want to help out
This scene from the episode made me cry... I hated the decision from Dr. Morgan, where she wasn't listening to Shaun. He had proved himself to be right in 99% of the cases. This patient could have lost a finger, instead of a whole arm... that's why she said "He told you"
BlackQUEEN• 7 I just watched the episode and I’m confused on what happened can someone explain, shaun said they had to cut a little bit off the finger tip to check if there was a bacterial infection, I don’t know what Morgan did after
Morgan, well the patient is gonna sue her for medical malpractice and negligence definitely gonna win because Morgan lets her ego get in the way of saving patients.
@@B1izzardHawkNot really, in actuality for something like that, if she took her to court that’s actually a likely scenario of what the charges would look like
I only know of Manami Ito and that’s the only reason this episode didn’t give me a nervous breakdown. Being able to imagine that maybe this poor girl got another chance to play again a few years later. It used to be prosthetics returned only the most basic function so if you wanted to do something like play an instrument you had to find workarounds (play with your feet, etc.). Now we are beginning to see just the start of what bionics can do and it’s exciting.
I love how almost every one of TV doctors with "conditions" (like Shaun or House) will be right every single time and still the colleagues won't believe them the next time
In the case of house, while he ends up being right most times in the end, you still gotta have people questioning you because if they didn't, then there may be the one time where he is actually wrong and messes up badly. Like in that one episode where he was going to amputate every limb from a little girl, chase stopped him in time and found out that she was allergic to light and didn't need amputation
I feel like if the other doctors didn't fight them, then the shows would not be as interesting. Plus, I feel like hospitals are a collaborative effort. If everyone kept accepting one guy as right all of the time, it leaves very little room for second opinions. What if the doctor was wrong but everyone just accepted them as right? Things will fall through the cracks. Doctors should question each other. They literally have lives on the line. There is little room for error.
This was one of the funniest scenes in the show because the lady doctor thought he was trying to scare her but she has no idea that his brain is blunt not jokingly
By far the most complex character in the entire show. She constantly sways in the grey area. She wanted to save this woman's entire arm and hand. That is why she she hesitated on getting deep tissue cut out of her finger because she would never be able to play violin again. There is a lot of deep hatred against her character in the comments, because you're looking at it in hindsight of what happened.
See the thing is, you can play without one finger. There's an option of changing the dominant hand or play differently, an archer can shoot with index and middle if they lose their thumb. So is violinist, you can't play shit with 1 hand but your cooch or cock.
People are hating on her because it's the arm of another person that was amputated because of her EGO. When you are a doctor, you need to make sure issues are dealt with sooner than if they became much much worse later down the line. But she didn't listen to her co-worker because of her ego and this was the result.
@@sir.mohamadpickingcotton1079 You are mistaking the definition of ego with empathy. A lot of doctors build psychopath tendencies. She simply has not become a psychopath yet because she is not a doctor yet
What they don't show in this clip is shawn immediately wanting to verify if she has nacrosis when she came in and the other residence hamstringing him bc of her own attachments. It's implied that the reason they had to cut this much out is that they waited too long so had blondie actually listened she might've lost some feeling in her hand, but she would still be playing. There's actually very good malpractice suit here. Blondie is lucky this is a show
I loved this scene. I'm happy they're showing Morgan's empathetic side. From her entrance into the show I liked her but didn't know why - now I know it was because she was actually quite caring on the inside, despite her hard exterior. Love Morgan!
I do see that side to Morgan too. I notice that with a few patients she considers their lifestyle and tries to fit the treatment to them, making it person centred, like last season with the girl who's heart was outside her chest and with the mountain climber in a previous episode of this season. She is the opposite of Shaun; he sees symptoms and considers the best way to deal with the symptoms without thinking about the person and how it will affect their lifestyle, and Morgan tries to fit the treatment around the patient and their lifestyle, but it might not be the best way to deal with the symptoms as demonstrated here, she delayed treatment and it cost the patient her arm. Unlike Shaun, she makes everything a competition and wanting to be the best can be dangerous and change a patient's life. Hopefully, she will learn from this mistake and grow as a character.
if its in real life she can sue the doctor because someone suggest already that if her finger will be cut her arm will be safe but because of the doctors pride and grees for achievement everything end miserily
A lot of people hate this character (Dr. Morgan) But I really like her. This episode is the start of her development. The writers have a lot of potential in this character.
Personally, I think Morgan is actually the character with the most compelling story. She's feisty, hard, unapologetic and driven. But she's also a devout Christian. And, as we see here, incredibly empathetic. The more I learn about Morgan, the more I learn she isn't just the ambitious one with a serious case of Resting Bitch Face. She's a person too!
Sadly Without her bow hand the best she can do is Twinkle twinkle little star. The flexibility and stability that the fingers, wrist and elbow provides nothing can come close, not even 5% of a bow arm. There are so many techniques of a bow which is now lost.
I don't think she did anything wrong. She played it defensively, and if Shaun was wrong then she would've had nerve damage for no good reason. Just because she was wrong in the end doesn't mean her methodology was incorrect.
Atleast consider the idea of other doctor. There are certain lab test which can be performed immediately like sample biopsy to ascertain the signs and symptoms of the patient aside from imaging which Morgan fails to consider (because she was looking down Shawn be abuse of him being autistic). Serves you right
her finger got infected, and shawn suggested cutting it off but morgan tried to play the hero by going the "it's just an infection it's going to be fine" to that girl and the result is the infection spread out to that girls whole arm, that's why the girl said "he told you, it's your fault"
i get she lost her arm but her career is not over we see time and time again people wit one arm one leg succeed in a physical and musical standpoint s in their careers 🤷🏽♂️ not to undermine her injury but she still can have a successful career
I get what you're saying I completely understand but look at it from her perspective, she has been playing the violin with 2 arms now she has to be told she lost one. that's not something that can just be easily overcome, at first it might seem like she giving up but really think about it. If I lost one of my arms that I literally had my entire life I would feel the same way she's feeling now.
Even if she managed to overcome and play again, she'll never be picked over a non disabled player. Player with such injuries often have to perform solo, attracting attention by showing off how they can still play with their handicap. It'll be their disability that'll be thrusted into the forefront than their music. Imagine it, relearning and playing again, just for your lack of an arm to be more prominent and well known then your music. She would forever be the one armed violinist. She'll never be JUST a musician, always the oddity.
Stop. Just. Stop. Please!! I like Morgan the way she is. She doesn't need to be tokenized into a homosexual out of nowhere like all these shows do these days.
