Let's look at verse 16; "Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." The rock is Jesus Christ Himself, the chief cornerstone spoken of throughout the Bible. It was Peter's declaration of faith of this truth as revealed to him by God the Father of Jesus being the rock, the chief cornerstone that the Kingdom of God will be built on. The Roman Catholic Church has misunderstood and misused this scripture to establish themselves as God's authority on earth. But that was never accurate. Jesus makes it crystal clear that only He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life - there is no other way but Him. All those in union with Christ make up His church wherever they are on earth at any time period. We worship and fellowship with other fellow believers in Christ which are all over the world in various churches. The key is to find a church that holds the true Biblical & Apostolic Gospel as taught in the Scriptures. Personally, I have found those churches that are connected to Reform Theology hold to the Biblical Apostolic teachings and offer the richest teachings of Scripture, Biblical & Church history. Now, unfortunately due to the sin nature in humanity they do divide over various issues. But those are secondary & tertiary issues. However, they are united in the core understanding of the Biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ and stand united. The Watchtower controlled the entire narrative that we as former JWs based our knowledge on - and it was wrong. It was only after I gave myself permission to research outside of the Watchtower's publications that I started to learn the real truth. I began listening to Christian radio, TV, books, etc. along with reading my Bible and praying constantly for God's wisdom, direction, and guidance. Teachings had to harmonize with Scripture. Heck! Just Google your questions and you will find more truth online than in Watchtower publications!! RU-vid has many great ministries to help one learn the truth. Besides our brother here on Beroean Pickets there is also Mike Winger, Bible Thinker that is excellent. Then there is Ligonier Ministries with RC Sproul, and Grace To You with John MacArthur. Ligonier Ministries and Grace To You are in the Calvinism stream. I personally do not agree with their teaching on election but everything else they teach is solid. I personally believe the teachings of Mike Winger and SOTERIOLOGY 101 with Dr Leighton Flowers are Biblically correct on this topic of election/determinism. Correct, Peter did not call Jesus a rock. Peter called him the Christ, the son of God. Jesus Christ the prophesied Messiah is the rock, the chief cornerstone upon which rests the Kingdom of God. Jesus states clearly that only He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus affirmed what was revealed to Peter by God the Father and further connected it to Himself as the foretold cornerstone(rock). This is attested to by faithful Christian theologians & scholars of the ancient Biblical texts & Church history. Although I have done extensive research regarding this point and am convinced of this application for myself each one has to research these things for themselves. If they are speaking falsehood, then they are not speaking the words of the fine shepherd and we must depart from them.

I find myself too sad to even feel critical in a big way with the GB. I only feel sadness for the people who are still mislead. Sometimes I can’t believe that I’m walking away from it. It still feels like I’m swimming away from my life boat but I know in my heart that they are dishonest and the lifeboat is a mirage of safety.
