Ellison Mounts, of the Hatfield Clan, was hanged in on February 18, 1890 in Pikeville, Kentucky for his role in the murder of Alafair McCoy during the Hatfield-McCoy Feud. It was the only legal execution of the feud. Mounts was believed to be the illegitimate son of Ellison Hatfield which would have made him the nephew of Hatfield family patriarch, William Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield.
