Today we’re talking about another one of the Hatfield and McCoy feuds most famous events. On Election Day in 1882, an argument between a Hatfield and a McCoy escalated into violence. Ellison Hatfield, the brother of Devil Anse, was mortally wounded at the hands of three sons of Randall McCoy. A few days later Ellison was dead and the McCoy brothers paid a heavy price in a grove of pawpaw trees near the banks of the Tug Fork. Here we try to tell you about the context of the times and the many twists and turns that you don’t normally see in modern depictions of the feud.

On one side they could have let the law deal with them but the chances are devil ans and the others feared they wouldn’t get true justice unless they did it themselves

He was born in 1864 and died in 1882. What more research should he do? Randolph Mcoy Jr, "Bud" was 18 when he was killed. Look it up, the historical birth and death records are there.

Bud was a 15 yr old boy and not involved in the election day incident but was grabed up by the Hatfield gang, mistaken for another brother that was involved 🙄 😢
