FYI those race tips from coach apply to EVERY crit, ever.

Hes gotta work a bit on his corner skills. He got driven out to the corners quite often and lost a lot of speed. Nearly every corner was able to be taken without touching the break. The later u break, the longer you are fast. Corners is everything in crit racing

I started racing this year (4 races so far, none finished yet😅) and I can speak from experience, it is really hard to get used to all the pushing and stuff thats going on in the bunch. It is also pretty hard for me to get to good position in races, because I lack the skills. This channel helps A LOT.

I'm amazed to see these us crits. so many high-end bikes and so many bad roads in the urban/industrial districts, you guys are racing in. kudos for not crashing so much.

Great analysis and great riding Creighton. You look to have been doing yourself a major disservice by not tucking in behind someones wheel and saving some energy. Most of the time showed on the video you aren't sitting behind anyone and at time you can see that you are pumping out 200+ Watts but beside you and keeping pace is someone who is tucked behind a string of riders and they aren't pedaling. Absolute mad heartrate :O
@user-vw4hv4dj4e
@user-vw4hv4dj4e 2 года назад
With corners u need to ride way more agressively. Hes young, but without willing to risk more u wont gain a place. For the hill stage. Hit it at the end of the hill and pedal down the hill. Pedaling down the hill, even a bit will make a faster recovery than just doing nothing. You can also gain like 5 places each lap every time

In fields of this size, on courses this small, it seems like you would have to be in the first 30-40 bikes at the starting line to even have a legitimate chance to move up/place well by the end. Instead of the race coming down to the last corner, these races seem to be decided at the first corner.

The older you get, the more you realize crits have a lot of potential to be won in the first lap. CX is the same. Most riders are not warmed up or have the adrenalin pumping in the first 10 minutes, so it is one opportunity to get a break and keep the pressure on. Creating a break from the whistle breaks the pack up and strings the separate units out. This makes it very very difficult for groups to organize themselves to catch you if the break cooperates. Obviously, this is harder with a top field, but the principle is the same.. Being at the front from the beginning gives cleaner lines on technical courses and gets you away from crashes and others' mistakes.
