@@Jazzfan22 trae plays better in the playoffs than in the regular season. The make up of the team isn't suited around his style. Funny how Luka has accomplished the same but y'all on his nuts. I'm not even a Trae fan.
I honestly think the Spurs should look into trading for Trae Young. Bring in an all star veteran point to go along with Wemby. They have plenty of young players/ picks the Hawks would want.
Yeah sure go trade a bunch for a team that you own their picks, and bring in a short, doesn't defend, inefficient scorer just so you can help the Hawks out of their own bind. Might as well say they should trade for Dejunte Murrey hahahah
@@22s22a The Spurs entire success model is predicated on loyalty to their culture. We call It being “Spursy”, meaning you’re “over yourself”. I don’t see Trae Young ever being “over himself”.
Video request: can you do a follow-up video with a few Trae Young trade ideas? Trade value in and of itself is one thing. Finding a trade partner that would want a talented yet inefficient, undersized, bad defense playing guard with that sort of contract would be even harder
I think you are missing the business side. They could just be settling to be good enough to sell tickets and get nationally broadcast games. Everyone can't contend so the next best thing is to make money. Trae is must watch TV even if he's an orange cone on defense
There are, in reality, a very small number of players are good enough to build a team around but you unfortunately don't know that until you try, the pelicans discovered that with AD, the wolves discovered it with KAT, the Jazz discovered it with spyder and now the Hawks have figured it out with Trae
Utah had a solid team. They just couldn't get over the hump. 2018 is the except because they didn't stand a chance against Golden State. Spida shocked the world defeating Westbrook, George and Melo as a rookie. No way in hell was he going to beat Golden State. But if he did... would've been a great story once he retires
As a Hawks fan, I was excited about what they were building until the Murray trade and Travis Schlenk leaving. The team is stuck in mediocrity and I really don't know how they can get unstuck. They traded all those picks for Murray. They wouldn't get those picks back for Murray or Trae. I don't trust this owner with his young meddling son or the inexperienced GM.
The one thing you miss is that it's been over 30 years since we've had a star talent on Trae's caliber. Trading him at this point would drastically affect ticket sales. Upper management simply has to get the necessary pieces around him to be contender.
The Hawks are wasting time trying to make Trae the franchise player right now. A undersized guard with 0 defense and isn’t good with handling physicality isn’t going anywhere, UNLESS you do it completely right by surrounding him with 3 and D wings, and a secondary player that can help the scoring load, BUT defend aswell and I don’t see it happening. Basically do what the Warriors did for Curry and that ain’t easy to replicate.
Yes. Even if Trae can be a devastating offensive weapon on a good evening, as opposed to just really high volume shooter on a normal night, Hawks should definitely trade Trae rather than trading Murray. We can all see Murray as a starter on a championship team. That can't be said about Trae.
As a Spurs fan, I just hope those picks we got for Dejounte turn valuable. Realistically, the reason we got Wemby was trading Dejounte. With him on the Spurs, we are a 30-ish wins team, and hopefully, those picks can help us either trade for someone good, or pick up a young talent through draft. But even as the trade happened, I don't know what Atlanta was thinking, because even though on paper, pairing Trae with a defensive guard is good, Dejounte needs the ball to shine his offense. If they got Derrick White, maybe Lonnie Walker and maybe someone else instead, they would in my opinion, be much better now. (Ofcourse, Spurs wanted to trade Dejounte to tank, but that caliber of players would've made more sense)
@@goldzipfelchen4721 I think that would be amazing, unless we get to pick Topic in the upcoming draft. Imo Trae has been overhated by the statistics and recent rise of Brunson and Hali. Vassell would really need to work on the backcourt defense part, but besides that, really unstoppable duo offensively.
Traes defense is starting to become underrated imo and his reputation is starting to proceed. He aint that bad. If you watch hawks games, dejounte gambles a lot and the ONLY good-great perimeter defender is jalen johnson bro. The problem is not offense and honestly trae and dejounte are fine together. It is defense. If we had defenders we would be top 4 seed.
Teams that would actually make sense to trade for Trae: 1. Orlando Magic (they finally get a star-level offensive combo-PG); Markelle Fultz, Wendell Carter Jr., Jett Howard, & 4 1st Round Picks. 2. Brooklyn Nets; team fit makes sense, but outside of Mikal all they really have are the Cams, Widdie, and Picks. 3. Timberwolves: Karl Anthony Towns for Young Straight up.
Everyone always talks about how talented this Hawks roster is and has been. And then every time a player leaves Atlanta, people realize they weren’t that good. Kings aren’t happy with Huerter. Jazz aren’t happy with Collins.
Both those players (Collins & Huerter) were progressing nicely early in their careers, then fizzled out and got traded after a couple of bad seasons. That's why the Hawks traded them off. Their stock was falling and it was clear they weren't going to be pieces to keep.
Good points on the Atlanta Hawks future. I like Trae on the team he is awesome on offense. When Gallo was on the team he created his shot and he was tall. He helped Trae and Hawks a lot. We need players that are all tall except for Trae and not necessarily good on defense but tall and can score. Being tall one can play defense if Quinn teaches it and makes a staple for the Hawks.
As a many decades old Hawks fan I can tell you exactly what's going to happen. We limp on for a few years and then Trae signs elsewhere. Then Atlanta will blow it all up and start over again.
The owners dont want the team in the luxury tax but are doing well below par. The only way to improve realistically is to swap a big asset like DJM for a wing like Siakam (not sure how mathematically that sffects their cap).
As a Hawks fan i'm torn between waiting a tear down and wanting to build around Trae Young and Jalen Johnson. This roster is stuck as a play-in team-but if a star were ro come here, I think we could be a contender.
@@jnmc2498 Saying "you don't know what direction you should go in" tells me you want Atlanta to be teams like Toronto and Portland, holding on to cores or stars players longer than they should 🤔
DJM and Trae are both PG and they don't play off each that well. It's pretty much just pass off and each create their on shot. It's kinda pathetic how static they can be as one passes the passer then just stands there like a statue once he given up the ball. Hardly putting the defense on their toes.
Hawks need Quentin Grimes-type guard along side Trae. They need someone to be their POA defender and shoot open threes. Send Murray and Bey (he ain’t resigning) to NYK for Grimes, Fournier and three firsts (two protected, one unprotected.)
i feel like hawks needs a point forward like ben simmons or draymond along side trae rather than siakam, so maybe trae young doesnt have to do it all, playmaking and scoring at the same time i still think trae is the closest to steph if he just had a point forward who can hand him the ball and make a space for him
Problem with Trae is he won’t let anyone else take the reins. People always point out his “assists” yet it hardly equates to team ball. He’s a good basketball player but a terrible team player 🤷♂️
Because the Hawks are a terrible team whenever he’s off the floor. The Hawks offense is top 5 in the league. There’s no reason for anything to change on that side
Trae is a great individual, it is yet to be seen if he has the Kobe moment and becomes a great team player. He has oodles of talent. He just needs to trust his team more.
We need a down low presence. We thought it would be Okungwu but it isn't. I thought that having Ayton, KAT, Lauri Markkanen or Myles Turner would have been a net positive. We need to trade Bogi, Hunter and/or Capela to get a really good player downlow.
The Hawks have done a poor job with De’Andre Hunter so they’re stuck with him until his market value increases. Trade Dejounte, Bogdan and Clint. Actually make an attempt to develop AJ and Kobe, otherwise package them with the larger contracts that are hard to move.
In crunch time whether you up by 3 or down by 3 you have to have "in your face"type of finishes.I would give his finish a 7.5,like I said before he's over average but not the fit for the Hawks.
It’s like they’ve never wanted to go all in on a Trae led team, they’ve brought in guys that don’t really mesh with him, even on paper. The Murray acquisition never made much sense to me because he’s a pg, but they’ve made him a sg and again he isn’t a guy that really works with Trae. Then the front court is just young guys, they don’t seem to have anyone with real experience in the league. And now it’s Siakam who’s rumoured, but he doesn’t move the needle, especially with what they’d be giving up. They had to be willing to build around Trae from day one and they just didn’t seem to be making the right moves. But I also don’t think he’s the main guy on a championship team.
Trae, Hunter, Bey, and Bogdanović all have to go for the team of Atlanta to improve.. Murray, Capela, and Jalen are great.. they should be you key players to make a playoff run. You pay Trae a stupid amount just to realize he's a stat chaser bricking 3's and layups(40mill a year?) to bring team fg percentage down for a L.
I don't see the Hawks finding a trade partner for Trae Young. Granted, it could happen, but only if Atlanta takes a deal meant more for a bad contract and picks than for talent. Dejonte Murray and DeAndre Hunter...I think both could easily be on the move. This is where they would be able to find some talent to go with the picks. Clint Capella, same. Anyone else...I think they would only move for salary matching purposes. Not because of any major trade value. All of them are good players. Not a single one of them though are better than a second option for a team wanting to win a championship. Like, I can see Trae Young traded, I just don't see them getting close to as much as it looks like he should get on paper. Because of the chemistry issues. If a team has any concerns about whether or not he can fit into their team and style of play, they won't make that move. There are only a couple of teams I could even see going for that kind of move. Detroit, San Antonio, Los Angeles Lakers and maybe Toronto are about the only teams who might have an interest. Even then, I am not sure. The rest of the Hawks...I can see them getting good value in return on trades. Hawks fans...in case any of you happen to read this. I am not saying Trae Young sucks. He doesn't. It is more of I don't see where he fits on many teams right now, the lack of defense and with questions about his ability to play well with others...it will limit his market.
You can say that for 80% of other guards. We can put the likes of Brunson or Mitchell on a pedestal but nah Trae is a bad defender and is a coach killing cancer.
The change the Hawks NEED to make is to have Trae pull a Curry and let him play more off ball. Yes, Dejounte isn’t quite the distributor Trae is, but I think it unlocks him much more as a slasher, it makes Trae more lethal if his threes are mainly catch and shoot, and hopefully he could (to a lesser extent) have a Curry-like gravitational effect on opposing defenses
Hawks have tried that over the years. Trae was getting to open spots off the ball, but we could never get the ball to him. He'd just be sitting out there open and we'd end up turning it over. That was part of the motivation for the DJM trade, but even that hasn't come to fruition.
bro i'd see trae young fit perfectly in san Antonio in the off season as a restart for him and the start of a cicle with san Antonio like Just Imagine trae young , Devin vassel, keldon/sochan, sochan/ (the First rounder they draft in 2024) and wemby. that to me Is a play in team with everyody under 25 y/o and room to improve
Atlanta needs a couple players or player types. 1st is a Draymond Green type player. Maybe Draymond Green himself, or a Ben Simmons if he ever gets healthy. The second player they need beside Trae is a Clay Thompson type player. Maybe Clay himself or a Mikael Bridges(good luck with that one) - DFS? or Royce O for D Murray?
Atlanta Hawks starting lineup point guard Trae Young shooting guard dejounte Murray small forward Makil Bridges power Forward Jalen Johnson Center Bol Bol
I want the Hawks make huge roster changes before the season end. Trade every player at possible because the season is finish for Hawks who cannot make to playoffs imo. I love Hawks to demand them trade even Trae Young.
@@vicenteoliveira865 steph underrated defensively, not saying he's all defense team level, no but idk if it's their system but he does hold his own especially when you consider how much he does on offense
his defense is better that when it was during the 2021 run so that has nothing to do with that he's playing lights out…most guards aren't great defenders
Trae Young to Toronto for Siakam? Pair him with OG, Barnes, and Poetl. Get a glue guy 2 like White or Melton. Schroeder off the bench. Seems pretty decent.
Hawks fan here. Anybody wanna know what's wrong with the Hawks? Ask Travis Schlenk!!! Look at the players he drafted: John Collins- Mid Trae Young- All-Star, All-NBA Kevin Huerter- Mid De'Andre Hunter- Mid Cam Reddish- Trash Onyeka Okongwu- Mid Jalen Johnson- Mid AJ Griffin- Trash Ya'll see that? Everybody keeps blaming Landry Fields, but it was Travis Schlenk who built this team. Landry finally got us a shooting guard who can play next to Trae, something Travis should've done all along. Kobe Bufkin might have to be the one to save this franchise now.
Hawks never had a great SG with Trae Young. DJM is clearly a point guard he doesn't get to the foul line near enough as he shoots a ton of mid range shots and his defense Iis ok but is overrated. Also Capela is so limited on offense it hurts to watch with his limitations. OO isn't stepping up as a starting center. Hunter is mid at best and cant rebound to save his life. AJ Griffin fell off the map and the coach is giving him little chances to play. The coach did give Jalen Johnson a chance and was panning out then got injured and missed a month, but at least he has returned. All in all the team is poorly constructed. They're a pretty small team that needs an All Star at SG and a Big at center that can space the floor. Those two things really seem hard to come by apparently.
Lets get crazy and trade Young and take your pick of another player to Toronto for Pascal and OG and flip the problems on both teams and hit the reset button. So you know when I did this on 2K they were both 50 win teams and eyeballing a Ring. 😂😂 This logic is good enough for a lot of people.
I think the Problem is that Trae needs to be the No 1 option to work in the NBA, but he is just nowhere near complete enough to be the No 1 on a contending Team. Tray is kind of a poor mans underseized Luka Doncic, ironic enough that they were traded for each other. Trae has great offensive ability, but he is propably one of the worst defenders in NBA history that make you immediately one of the worst defensive teams in the League, even if you are surrounding him with mainly defensive talent. I thought Isiah Thomas was as bad as defense gets in the NBA on the Celtics, and then i saw trae young.
He should be in a situation like New Orleans. Replace him for CJ and you have a perfect team for Trae. Trae might be the biggest star between him, Ingram and Zion but at least he's got two definite stars alongside him. But that's never going to happen. One, it's too expensive. Two, I don't think he'd want to play in New Orleans
So tired of this worst defender ever narrative. Did you know haliburton and trae have the same defensive rating? And trae’s was actually better until recently?? He’s improved a lot and if you look at the rankings there’s tons of people with a worse defensive rating that trae
Trae Young need to come off the Bench periodt. start Boga or trade him for Z.Livine #8Bulls🤔.....He hurting us bc it's all about him Now(All Star)🙄..We got tooooo much talent to be losing like this....sih should be 3 or 4 in the East about Now🤔
