Well you don't have to worry about me. I would never underate this group that gave us popular music magic for decades. No way would I ever underate them.. ❤❤❤❤❤Hollies rule.
I am 55, lived a life of abject loneliness. A month ago, a gorgeous young woman exploded into my heart and soul. Every night and every day feels like a lifetime of pure LOVE. I played her this song on Valentines Day. I expected a few tears, but by the time that bridge finished after that first chorus, both of us were crying our eyes out. We played it 7 more times that night. She insists on waking up to this song every morning. We both still get misty eyed, realizing what each of us is giving the other. This may not last forever like in the movies, but our Love for each other is burning brighter than a whitest of white stars. If life tears us apart tomorrow and I live another 30 years alone, I will die knowing what complete love is...
Harry has a mannerism that I’m sure we all find endearing. When he is in musical joy, he reaches up to touch the headphones, as if to touch the music itself. 😘
Being born in the 50s was a blessing .Especially when it comes to great music. The 60s 70s and 80s has produced some of the greatest musicians and singers ever.So much talent. We had it all.
This is my favorite song of theirs. It's almost otherworldly with the Instrumental arrangements and harmony of voices. Only one other song give me goosebumps similar to this. It's "I want to know what love is," by Foreigner.
Tony Hicks is giving the guitar 🎸 hell to the opening of the song and Alan Clark is fantastic on lead singer. This is my most favorite ❤ Hollies song 🎵 ❤
I have always thought this song was hauntingly poignant , and beautiful....great choice...why these guys arent legends Ill never know...they were incredible artists, writers, and storytellers.
The song was written by Albert Hammond who writes songs for other artistes and is also a respected singer in his own right. You should react to It Never Rains in Southern California, Down By The River, Free Electric Band. He has also written many number 1 hits for: Leo Sayer When I Need You, Julio Inglesias To All The Girls I Knew Before, Whitney Houston: One Moment In Time, etc
Whenever they sing "All I need is the air that I breath" it makes the hair on my body stand up it is so fricking awesome!! 🤗 The Hollies had such incredible harmonies.
Harri, great reaction to THE HOLLIES, Very underrated band from your neck of the woods MANCHESTER, although I have to say the prime days were with GRAHAM NASH, ALAN CLARKE WAS A GREAT SINGER unfortunately contracted throat cancer and now doesn't sing. My recommendation is LONG COOL WOMAN IN A BLACK DRESS, a bit of a rocker for them. Take care kid.
Great song! 😃 Graham Nash was in The Hollies but left. This led to founding Crosby, Stills + Nash. Despite leaving The Hollies, Graham is still friends with lead singer Allan Brooke. Suggested next video: He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother RIP Bass guitarist Eric Haydock, in 2019 🎸
Elton played piano on He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother and was paid 12 pounds ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jl5vi9ir49g.html He was still Reg Dwight then
Its 1974 I am heading to meet my friend for a trip to the mountains of western NC. As this song came on the mountains first appear in my front view. It was a combination of majestic view and majestic song. Memory of a lifetime. Thank you Hollies!!!!
The truth is they got it during Christmas when they were doing a show and they had to come up with a name quickly. one of them looked up and said look Holly, let’s just call ourselves the hollies. True story from Alan Clark himself.
He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, Long,Cool Woman in a Black Dress & Bus Stop are some of my favs by this fantastic band. I used to put one of their records and play it for hours! 😻🎶☮️
In the 70s, a lovely lady called Kay used to pick me up in Ealing and give me a lift me to Shepherd’s Bush in West London were we both worked for the BBC. Each journey seemed to be accompanied by this song. There were obviously other songs as well but this is the only one which remains in my memory. Perhaps it was the delightful company of Kay which was responsible God bless you, Kay, wherever you are. .
I was around 9 or 10 when this came out. It was always on the radio in Philadelphia. Reminds me of summer. I still love this song all these decades later.
Summer of 74. I was 13. Not a care in the world. Will forever remind me of summer fun. Getting my independence. My mother was letting go.. I was allowed off the block. Lol I was a teenager now!
An much underated group in my opinion which deserves more air time on YT. In 1969, the Hollies released an album titled 'Hollies Sing Hollies' and it shows off their different styles to a tee. In particular, you might like to take a listen to 'Please Sign Your Letters', 'My Life Is Over With You', 'Soldier's Dilemma' and especially 'Marigold/Gloria Swansong'.
Yo8 need to listen to the earlier Hollies, when they had Graham Nash singing harmonies. They were a better band back then. I suggest the song Bus Stop. And of course, you need to listen to Nash's later band, Crosby Stills & Nash aka Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Check out Nash's song Our House (about Nash living with Joni Mitchell). Also, check out the band Crosby & Nash. While you are at it, check out Joni Mitchell's album, Blue
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother is my fav Hollies tune. Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress got some airplay when it was released. Both are worthy of a listen IMO
Glad you mentioned the lead vocalist. That was Allan Clarke and he also doesn't get the recognition he deserves. As others have mentioned: He Ain't Heavy (He's My Brother) and Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress Should be next on your Hollies Journey!
Actually it wasn’t originally Hollies but Allan Clark alone as he tried solo career and consequently he sings alone without harmonies. When he returned to Hollies the song followed…🙄
My favourite Hollies song by far. Happy to have been born in the early 1950s and to have grown up with such amazing music. Check out Barry Ryan's "Eloise", written by his twin brother Paul, also Crispian St Peters "You Were On My Mind" and "The Pied Piper"
Ahh.. childhood. This song reminds me of my father. He played this a lot when we were in the car driving through europe on holidays... good memories.. Miss you Papa.. 😢
Live version of their cover of "Blowin In The Wind" and " Carrie Ann". Also "Bus Stop", "Lucy", "Sandy" (B.Springsteen cover) ....... tons of great Hollies songs.
The hollies. What a fantastic group .I had the pleasure to see them live in Exeter uk being a brit makes me so proud of the music we have produced on this tiny island .
@@jamesjohnston9225 actually Hollies: Bus Stop and Look through any window were written by Graham Gouldman who also wrote For your love for Yardbirds plus No milk today and Listen people for Herman’s Hermits🤔👌👍 Later he played in 10cc✌️
Allen was one of those people who could make my blood pressure rise and love this song and as some one with adult asthma this is sometimes how I feel and LOVE that opening guitar
So much great music was coming out in those days. We were very spoiled. With these reaction videos I am newly appreciating these gems for how truly great they are!
