I watched this movie probably 50 times before I realized that the man who starts the riot in 11 was Rue’s dad.

Him: (sees adorable Rue) Don’t fall for it! Me: It’s okay, we all fall for Rue ☺️

Rue’s death guts me every time. Her district didn’t rebel because she was killed, even though she was beloved in her district by everyone that knew her. They rebelled because despite all the brutality, they saw a moment of compassion. Katniss wanted to protect Rue even though it put her own safety at risk. It was two districts banding together not for personal gain, but out of a desire to help each other, and they all forgot that was even possible. It was the spark that President Snow warned against.

When Haymitch says "Embrace the probability of your imminent death And know, in your heart, that there's nothing I can do to save you" just breaks my heart. The kids from the poor side of District 12 have to sign up for grain and oil to be able to survive. They need to sign up once for each member of their family and what it does is put the name of the child in the reaping for each time they sign up. So if a child has 3 other family members, the first year , they have their names in 5 times (4 x for the food + their regular entry). The following year, they have their names in 10 times (4 times for the food x2 years + 2 'regular' times.). The third year, they have their names in 15 times (4x3 years + 3 regular times). You get the picture. This is why Gale's name is in 42 times instead of just once per year, because he has 2 brothers, a sister and his mom. That means most of the chosen tributes come from "The seam" (The really poor part of the district). They are starving, they are small, they are tired, have no energy or muscle mass. No sponsor would take them on. So for the last 23 years, Haymitch watched 46 kids die because there was nothing he could do to save them. And then, he had to go back to the district, year after year, and face the families and loved ones of those 46 fallen tributes. For the last 23 years, he has to live with the memories of having failed to save those children. I don't even live in that world and I want to drink. When he sees that Katniss and Peeta have heart, they have spunk, they have muscle mass, he sees that maybe, just maybe, there is a chance he could bring one of them back alive... no matter how slim that chance may be. Sorry, this is one of my favorite series of all time so I tend to get overly passionate. Thank you for reacting to it

I’ve seen this movie dozens of time at this point, and Rue’s death makes me cry and get choked up with anger every single time. Amandla Stenburg really did a wonderful job, especially considering Rue didn’t have that much screen time.

Great reaction! Loved his openness to the story without being shaded by preconceived notions. While this series is very popular, I still think it’s underrated for how thoughtful the storytelling is & how well they execute it on film.

I love your reaction 😂 I remember watching Hunger Games in the cinema and I had no idea what it was going to be about. When I heard the cannon sounds I got goose bumps all over. The entire feel was amazing probably my best cinema experience together with Harry Potter

28:24 : the Capitol doesn't supply the districts with medecine and food and pretty much everything that makes life comfortable to keep them as miserable and weak as possible to avoid a rebellion, but also to make them more eager to participate in the Games with the hope that they win (because when they win, they also win a lot of food for their district for a whole year).

In the books even though they have that futuristic healing stuff Peeta's leg had to be amputated and katniss's ear I believe it was the left ear she was deaf in but I believe they were able to fix that

peeta teaming up w the careers to protect himself & steer them away from katniss was so smart. he looked out for himself but was also seen as the most valuable person in terms of finding & killing katniss,, so they trusted him w pretty much everything involving her. he genuinely cares for her & is selfless for her in a way gale js rly isnt.

Yeah here's the thing the poor district basically living like it's several hundred years ago while the capital and the Richer low number districts are basically living hundreds of years in the future

Honestly Gale has no right to be mad about Katniss and Peeta. They weren’t even dating. The Hunger Games was so messed up.

The tributes from Districts 1 & 2 are stupid and bad at math. When they had Katniss treed all they had to do was back up a few feet from under the tree and change the angle in which to shoot her with the bow and arrow.
