It's the last day of August and all I can think about is Fall! It's been a busy couple of weeks, our 35th wedding anniversary and a wonderful visit with my mother and brother. One of our iconic historic hotels The Harborside Inn was destroyed by a fire. Our volunteer fire department contained the fire and kept our entire town from burning. No injuries!
I'm wearing the Eyelet Tee designed by Rosemary Drysdale. I knit it in Valley Yarns Leverette.
On the mannequin is the Fringed Shawl designed by Barbara Bryant. The pattern appeared in the 2015 Holiday issue of Vogue Knitting Magazine. The pattern is available on Ravelry.
I'm working on the Wood and Honey pullover designed by Andrea Mowry. I'm knitting it in Brooklyn Tweed Tone Light in the color way Zest.
I'm also working on the Avaris Pullover designed by Lena Zharichenko. She has a podcast called PurlZknitting and a tutorial for this pattern. Lena also has a design feature in the most recent issue of Pompom magazine and her design is on the cover. I'm knitting this pattern in North Light Fiber Water Street a beautiful 40% Cashmere 60% extra fine merino. This pattern is available on Ravelry.
I'm planning on making the Autumn League Pullover by Alexandra Tavel and I've order the called for yarn from Lion Brand.
Ros of Rosemondeknits podcast is a new delightful colorful podcast.
Ok, please comment if I've missed anything.
Thank you for watching my channel and all your lovely comments!

That wrap is gorgeous! I love hearing you talk about your projects because they are so well thought out and just works of art. A hotel on Nantucket had a big fire like that last year! I think the neighboring homes were damaged, but thinking of it going to the whole town is so scary! Thank goodness all the fire depts worked together to save your town!

Thank you for another lovely vlog. I’m thankful the fire didn’t turn into something far worse…..my parents lost our home and business to a horrific fire when I was young (seven children) and it is devastating. Community is so important…..Loved all you knits as usual!! I’m just starting a Lento sweater this morning but off to have coffee with a friend. Have a lovely weekend.

Dear Diane, The white sweater is just so beautiful. The way you are thinking about your knits is how Ralph Lauren designs his clothes. He doesn't start with the dress but with the women in mind. How does she look, what does she do, where does she live, where is she going? And then he makes a dress for that woman. Ivana ❤

Good morning Diane, As always, it has been a pleasure spending time with you while kntting. I too, was looking forward to switching my knitting from short sleeved plant based project to woolly, woolly pullovers...until mother nature served us with one last hurrah! We've been having a heat wave this week in Québec, with temperatures in the higher 90's. I really thought that my Salty Air Tee by Samantha Guérin would be my last project of the season, but no...I've decided that I have time this week for another one, so I'm making the Joni by Natasja Hornby with beautiful, silky Susurro by Malabrico in a pearly grey color that is very not me, but oh, so great to look at. I bought this yarn while visiting Chicago on a mini knitting retreat this August and I will think about it every time I wear it. So just like you, I also "fantasize" my knitting. I recognized the Vogue issue you showed with the shawl on the cover....I have it also in a box with other back issues. So funny the habits we share as knitters, eh? I made a similar "Missoni" inspired straight scarf with some Noro wool (I'm lazy so I didn't want to have to change the colors) and it was so beautiful that I ended up using it as a table runner in order to be able to see it all the time. I'm still discovering the wonders of KnitCompanion myself, and this week, thanks to an podcast episode by Knitty Natty, I learned how to play with charts, create a whole new page and bring more than one chart on the same page, line them up and merge them...game changer! I also learned about the Magic Wand, with which you can all at once color all your actions, like "Cable left", "Cable right", etc. and the cherry on top of the sunday is the magic row counter, with which you color all those knit stitches in between and KnitCompanion will show you the number of them in this color coordinated circle. Wow! I was tickled pink you referred to the Stephen West mnemonic aid about being "Right back" and "Left through the front door"! If it helps just one other knitter, then it's worth it. Thanx for sharing. The fire you talked about in your intro must have been quite an event in your community. Thankfully, it seems no loss of life was reported. We can always rebuild bricks and stones, but bones... The voluntary firemen are heroes. My best friend's husband is one of them in a small community near Lévis, Québec and he's had some intense experiences while waiting for backups from the big city. Trois Pistoles, eh? Amazing! An immersion course in such a small community is something I'd never thought of. It must have been quite an experience. And a whole year apart with you visiting ? Lots of kilometers to and fro must have been made during those months. I find it very useful when you refer to other podcasts. It's a great way to broaden my knitting horizons with people I would otherwise not necessarily have been able to connect with. Pleeeease, don't talk about Purl Soho's Linen Quill sales anymore! It cost me a fortune last time😯! I have enough of my yarn buying/hoarding pulsions to manage on my own without others nicely adding to them! I just fell off the wagon again this week I must confess, with a Holst Garn sale. You go straight to their Danish website and they soooo nicely do everything for you, the language, the currency, the delivery... you get the picture? That yarn is like crack, and they are the friendliest pushers in the universe. And because it is so amazingly cheap, ...you get more! Like in cones, with some lace alpaca to match instead of mohair...they even have a chart that tells you which Titicaca (that's the alpaca base laceweight's name) color is a perfect match to which color in all of their other bases (and they have a few). Just be warned..if you visit the website, you are a stronger woman than me if you don't end up buying anything. You have been warned! Well again thank you for taking the time and energy to put this lovely episode together, Your 30ish minute limit means that I'm always left wanting More and More - just like the cake! Happy knitting Diane! 🧶🧶

Good morning Isabelle, thank you for your lovely note. Oh boy could we get in a lot of trouble if we lived near each other!! Our weather has also turned again, very hot and worrisome as hurricane Lee is looking for “weather maker” conditions. That’s was the old timers call this hot humid sticky weather during hurricane season. We usually rely on cold Canadian high pressure to keep them out at sea. I also put down my warmer knits down and put a pair of fingering weight sock on the needles for my husband. I love the Joni Tee. I also love grays however not my best color. However, I find silver jewelry and a reddish color lipstick helps. 😂 I’m up early this morning and thinking about all my reorganization and redecorating projects. I’m working on my studio, desk and storage area. Also, my husband and I are redoing our home office. Since we sold the business I’ve been avoiding it. It’s a nice size room and it deserves to be loved, it served us well. Sooo, paint, hardwood floor, bookcases, new lighting fixtures, etc…….. will be out fall project. This project requires going through a lifetime of photos and deciding whether to keep and scan, frame, give away or toss. I do love our knitting community and all the wonderful people I’m meeting because of the podcast. Thank you so much for being a part of this incredible experience. I absolutely love the time I spent in Quebec and Montreal. It was like an extended honeymoon. I had taken French in high school and enjoyed getting a chance to try it out. I hope you have a nice Sunday and as always happy knitting! 🧶
