@@doja1244 Came here from the Lee Rodarte video, couldn't recall the coke reference in the comments and decided to watch this again.. and this fucking legend pins a link to Jeff's channel an hour ago! Perfect timing
Pure gold. Got me every time I hear this conversation. He said "play" as there's no such thing as a "good" cop in the interrogation room! And that cop played along makes it funnier.
It seems they don't mean shit though. He stated multiple times that he wasn't talking and that he wanted a lawyer present, and they spent hours trying to question him without calling a lawyer. A good lawyer could certainly use this video in order to discredit all evidence gathered from this interview, since his multiples requests for a lawyer were continually ignored by the officers. Seriously, that is so absurd
Police have 0 education. Most never read a single book in their entire life. They're morons. They constantly break the law to uphold it which is the definition of corruption.
They were trying to establish dominance by getting him to explain himself and beg. It's a common tactic in gaslighting. Jeff knew this and did not follow along. Cops deal with opiate addicts all the time and have an intimate understanding of what methadone is.
No one who should be educated is educated the way they should be about methadone/buprenorphine!!! It’s very frustrating. Anyone who is drug testing anybody for any reason or is confiscating drugs for WHATEVER reason should be educated on all the drugs they are testing for or potentially confiscating, etc. (before someone tries to comment, I’m speaking in general I know this video has nothing to do with drug tests or confiscation but these detectives work in law enforcement, they should be educated on fucking methadone for Christ’s sake!!!) with the Oooo
***with the opioid epidemic, law enforcement should AT LEAST know what methadone/buprenorphine is. And I’m not saying these guys 💯 didnt know but many are clueless
You probably wouldn't say that if you were the person he robbed. He ran circles around these pigs and it was very entertaining but dude is guily as sin.
9:14 this is straight out of a Monty Python argument sketch. "I just told you" "No you didnt" "Yes I did, YES.I.DID" Literally minutes earlier: 07:56 (cop: that didnt happen, so please talk to ME, *about something I can accuse you of on tape)
I am not a lawyer, but I find it very interesting how many videos of interrogations feature police "casually dismissing" the rights that they read and try to have them sign. "You have the right to remain silent" "" "I need you to tell me your side of the story" "You have the right to an attourney" "I want an attourney" "What you need an attourney for? You said you didn't do nothin', just tell me your side of the story". It's sort of amazing to me how weird the legal system is, and it is no wonder that police get criticized and made fun of, because on one hand the system prevents them from gathering information quickly, but it also encourages them to "bend the rules" to convince people that they don't need a lawyer or that they can talk to the police because they are just there to help set things straight. Personally, I feel like there needs to be a legal requirement that police not give legal advice to criminals. If they declare that "oh, a lawyer isn't necessary, we're just having a friendly conversation and getting your side of the story", it should be a crime in itself. They are defrauding an individual of their rights, often when they are scared, sick, or injured which constitutes a valid threat to their wellbeing and should be considered duress. I don't know what Jeff did or did not do, but it is not civil to lock up someone going through withdrawal and try to trick them into admitting to any kind of crime by downplaying their rights.
It isn't just bending the rules, what they did is 100% illegal. And criminal! You cannot reinitiate an interrogation once the individual invokes their rights. When he asked for a lawyer, the officer was legal bound to stop speaking to him entirely and immediately. The irony in the cop saying "You just handcuffed me." After breaking the law himself is baffling. So yes, you are correct.
@Sarcastimation Knowing the difference between two drugs isn't exactly some deep and nasty secret. This is grade school health education type shit my dude.
@@cameronpolite2199 True. I dont believe there has been actual legislation, but simply case law. However, in order to uphold a defendents 6th Amendment right, it should be common practice to immediately stop the questioning process. But, as we know, not all cops know or care about the righta.
11:35 Good example of Jeff’s awareness throughout this whole thing. He cuts himself off the moment he starts explaining his story because he realizes it’s going to be twisted against him in some way even if he’s truthful.
Yep but he left without his Butterfinger the cops didn't keep their word so they're branch of designers cops. I tell you one thing I keep my word all the time and I'm prom and I don't BS anybody I say imma do something I do it I say I'm going to buy something buy it. I said take him out for dinner I do it I don't flake out...
He talked more than he needed to, but he got the basic principle right: Don’t talk. Addiction is stupid, but doesn’t necessarily mean low intelligence. Good lesson for people.
@@Qualicabyss lol people really don't want to comprehend the truth about many people's addiction. Some people are fucked up bad in the mind an soul bad childhoods traumatic experiences bad genetics likely a mix of all above. It's simply not possible to get them all the help in therapy oftentimes decades of it an the right medication which is tricky because the best head med's are not often given for head problems. So it's easier to just self medicate the problem comes up with the increased cost the war on drugs create which is the cause of most drug addicts criminal actions. But I can't speak for anyone else but I can stop using when I need to but if honest I'll admit the second my economic situation improves I'm going back to the med's but I don't like feeling nothing half of the time an feeling overwhelmed with energy and goals the other half.
NO, he did not. The cop had to question the subject. He did. The subject didn't have to say anything but he knew that he would still either need to try to get out of the situation by lying or by talking to the cop at some point.
@@sauliusltcool6902 if they have no evidence they can't keep you past a certain amount of time simple as that. If they think they are close to getting a confession then they can apply for a 24 hour extension but even that will end eventually. It's not China or North Korea.
I can’t help but like this guy. Likely cause he’s wearing everything on his sleeve. He’s actually one of the most honest people I’ve ever seen in this scenario
the fact that the hours just went on a on and no lawyer was called is terrifying and heartbreaking. clearly a violation of our constitutional rights. I would completely loose my shit if I found myself in that position
Alas! This gift of drink, refreshing as it is, Has done sated mine thirst, But has failed to whet mine tongue. Prithee, return me to thine keep, For there is naught left for me to say. - Jeff
I love that the cop tries the whole "we have so much evidence just admit it already" and Jeff goes "like what?" and the cop just freezes like a deer in headlights.
Yep, I'm pretty sure a cop is going to start listing shit way before Jeff asked him 'like what?' He'd fish for a bit I'm sure but after pulling him out of a cell a few times and getting cuked for cokes, he'd lay something on Jeff to try and jar him.
The fact that he asked for a lawyer, and the cop didn't immediately stop asking questions and get up and leave, would let any lawyer worth half their salt get this case thrown out of court.
There's a reason for that actually. I mean he may just really like cokes but he's going through heroin withdrawal, the sugar in those cokes will be releasing some dopamine and help alleviate a small amount of the discomfort. Science
After hearing and watching this, I am glad you are educating people about stuff like this. Not manny understand how smart police officers are or at what lengths they can possibly go. You are awesome for this! 😎👍
simply remaining silent after being read your miranda rights is not enough. you need to verbally acknowledge that you do in fact understand that have the right to remain silent
@@Tohkie You still have the right to remain silent even if you don't verbally agree to it. You generally cannot be arrested simply for failure to respond to questions. If a person is in custody the police must read the Miranda rights if they want to ask questions and use the answers as evidence at trial. By not agreeing you're just making their job a little bit harder, which is probably what Jeff wanted.
@@roizyo Agreed. Cops need you to say you understand otherwise the interrogation could be inadmissible. But there's really nothing to be gained by talking to cops especially if you're guilty, but even if you're not. So say nothing, except I want a lawyer please and thankyou!
@@roizyo he’s already been arrested. He won’t get charged additionally for refusing to answer questions, if that’s what you mean. Dea is right in that “the right to remain silent” is a term of art. It simply means you have the right not to answer questions. Literally not speaking has not foreclosed the possibility of cops continuing to interrogate you. “I do not wish to answer any questions” or “I choose to remain silent” or “I will not answer any questions without a lawyer” or simply “I want a lawyer” is how you clearly and effectively invoke your 5th amendment right against self-incrimination, i.e the right to remain silent
Did anyone else notice the guy invoked his right to request an attorney and the cop kept badgering him. This is a clear violation of his rights. The cop starts a second interrogation and still no attorney. Another violation of Jeff's rights. That's two.
I loved the antihero description and using Billy Bobs character as a reference point - brilliant. What’s left out is the fact that heroin is the true epidemic sweeping thru our streets killing our friends and family while the pharmaceutical and drug suppliers get rich. Also, Jeff is a relatively intelligent guy other than his unfortunate drug problem.
Well, as an ex heroin addict for almost the amount of time he was... I'll say the fact he is doing this alllll while dope sick is.... Insane. What a legend
I was an addict too and i know damn well when he noticed them swarming buddys house he done whatever he had left in his package he probably had a loaded smash on standby..he looked way to fresh to be dope sick bro.
@@bjeffrey1863 i thought the same thing but hasn't he been held for a few days at the point when he drinks the coke...? I was under the impression that the "Wam bam take me back to my cell" moment was like 24-72 hours into being picked up.... So unless he boofed a loaded rig idk how he WOULDNT be sick in those videos. He would HAVE to be, as long as my understanding of how much time he's been held is accurate and he didn't somehow find a way to cop within days of hitting the block...? Anywho.... Wanted to say It's always nice to see another one of us that didn't die and is still out here rockin' and rippin', hope you can keep on stayin sober. I see you out 'chea bruhh. Respect 🤘🤙
Congratulations on getting better btw and keeping up the healthy good fight. I know it’s no comparable to heroin, I have been sober for a little over a year.
@@killawatt8243 it’s absolutley comparable because the hardest battles are the ones with ourselves. So you both accomplished the greatest already! Now wish me luck cuz I need it ahahah
I was on Dilaudid and I started getting sick 4-6 hours after a hit.... I heard heroin lasts longer but no way you won't be sick a full day after a hit right?
Thanks a lot for all your vids, they helped me a lot when questionned about a minor incident by the police, even if the laws in my country are different, I could still see the traps that cops would setup for me and happily jumped over it while saying.."Oh there is a trap"....the lady cop who interviewed me clearly wasnt happy that i did not play her game.
Jeff without a doubt is an addict but you can tell that he is not responsible what the fuck happens here based on his tone of voice and his natural badass manner
You can be detained and not free to go but not under arrest. But yeah as a general rule that is good. If you are detained don't talk to cops. Everything can and will be used against you. Not to help you
Frankly, Jeff ought to have sued the cops who kept interrogating him after he asked for a lawyer. After all, they performed a blatant violation of his rights.
I'm not some ACAB nerd, but I firmly stand by the stance that the second you get into an interrogation room, those people are not your friend even if they're looking into a case that you're innocent but close to, they are your enemies who will lock you up and not give a second thought about it, so any effort made to piss off interrogators no matter who's doing it is always a good thing by me.
I’ve seen interrogation videos where the person was guilty (Chris watts, etc) and the cops are praised for their intelligence and prowess (and I agree). But seeing the same “tricks” and tactics used when they’re trying to nail an innocent person makes you realize how neutral they really are at the end of the day and how you cannot depend on your honest communication to do anything but screw you over. Cops aren’t all bad and they certainly aren’t all good but they don’t care about you they care about how they can work you over once you’ve gotten to this point, your actual guilt seems secondary. It’s nice to see someone like Jeff shake up the power balance by even 1% and throw these guys off their game tbh!
I have never laughed louder or harder than when the police officer told Jeff that he had the right to remain silent, proceeded to ask Jeff if he understood, and received total silence in response. xD
Well the cops say "anything you say can and will be used AGAINST you in a court of law" they don't say "anything you say can and will be used in your favor to help you out" So obviously 🤫🤐
I am not done with the video but I feel so sad for Jeff. He seems like a really intelligent and well thought man, sucks that life put him in that position. Take care of yourself people
They just keep dragging guy outta the cell and giving him cokes. He drinks the coke, doesnt sign anything, then says "take me back to the cell". Fantastic.
Remember though that each time he gets out the cell for interview he is further into withdrawals. Heroin addiction makes you need lots of sugar (don’t ask me why, it’s a strong craving) the police are using (or hoping) to use his withdrawals to get him to crack. It’s like being in hell when you get nicked and got a habit. Jeff is actually a pro with these guys and they know it.
@@monokumano415 i don't think that this exact interaction actually happens in the video, i think it was more of a summary of what happens in it. I could be wrong tho.
In an odd way I understand that.... At first he initially was like "wait, no! Fuck this!" Then just as quickly his mind went to "ah fuck it...yeah, whatever."
@@jackkawf4449 don’t think so. He’s purposely giving false answers to be able to fight it in court. In no way is he agreeing or disagreeing to anything. I’ve done this exact thing when being interrogated by cops. If you give the multiple mixed answers it always gives you an out and then they can’t use it so reliably in court against you. I can easily say no then they say huh? Then I say yea as in, what? And not in yea I understand.
I love this video, bad santa segment and looove the antihero part . Props for our antiheroes JEFF THE LEGEND, Dr Gregory House,Tyler Durden,Bad Santa etc... .these people are our true heroes.
Some of the police officer's body language (the little I notice): 6:24 - Notice his scratching of his chin as he says, "talk to you about what happened last night". He is clearly nervous. He knows they don't have a case. No doubt Jeff (most likely subconsciously) picks this up. 6:44 - After saying, "I think it's in your best interest to (talk to the police)" he starts sitting restless in his chair, moves forth and back, moving things about pointlessly. Again, nervous, unable to find a good resting position, not at ease, not calm.
Jeff played the game to get snacks and a coke lol , I love it ! Especially at the end when he told them I’m only here for the coke , the detective was so done with him . He’s an addict but smart and savvy as hell, I use him as a learning tool❤
@User name 1234 They can only detain someone for so long without adequate evidence. Apparently, they arrested him on suspicion and had no evidence, unless they can trick him.
"I am currently running from the police. Judging by the way he is pulling a taser out of his pocket with an annoyed but not angry look on his face, I can conclude that he is utilizing the common police technique known as a tackle."
