@@freedomedwards2729 Dec bought those at a store. He mailed the red one to Baxter to make him believe that Sperma was the killer. Because remember, the girl they were looking for was said to have a red clip in her hair when she went missing. By doing this, he makes Baxter fill justified in murdering Sperma, and ensures that the case will never be reopened. Remember he told Baxter, don't ever search Sperma's name again or else the case will come back to life. I believe Dec was the killer, and because of his job he had access and the resources at his disposal to frame believable suspects like Sperma. Rewatch the movie, there is a scene where he asks Baxter "Why do you do this (pursue the killers)?" Baxter said, because he wants to nail the bastards. Dec said he does this for himself ( to protect himself from being caught). He literally was telling on himself the whole movie. Its the little things that get you caught he would say. And he was a master at covering up the little things.

@@fraydizs7302 Why would he keep evidence that could get him caught? He's too smart for that. Reverence he said it's the little things that get you caught.

When Deacon seeks into apartment and tells Malek he found a box in the floor. Malek's specifically asks if he found a red barrette bc the missing woman was last seen wearing one.

@@MoviesNeverSayDie what does that have to do with anything? The newly purchased pack of barrette’s was not with any of that man’s belongings. NOT. AT. ALL. This response is not even aligned with the fact DEACON purchased the barrettes. And the fact the girl had on the same red barrette. Please do a rewatch. Pause it when you get to Ronda the jogger. LOOK at the red barrette. And then fast forward to when Deacon goes through that man’s belongings. He never finds a red barrette. NEVER. Deacon buys the red barrette. Dude. That is the point!!!

Deke didn’t know what red barret to get. He just bought a pack and gave one to Rami because otherwise he would be haunted by the fact he killed someone who wasn’t the killer. Rami didn’t know what the red barrette looked like either, although I may be misremembering. As far as I remember rami knows about the red barrette because her parents tell him.

I really enjoyed this movie. I recently watched it (last month or so on HBO) and it was still a compelling watch.

It's interesting that the only two people we actually see killing people are the two police men.

That's becouse you missunderstood a movie...movie like this is great,masterpiece, and has a lot of questions, many misteries...Acting is phenomenal, Denzel Rami Leto , extraordinary guys, academy awards winners...so whatc it again, but pay attention !

In the major thing is not one of them was a serial killer but I do believe even though they didn't show it Jared Leto's character killed somebody cuz he said he did but they couldn't prove it now Denzel accidentally killed the girl the detective killed Jared Leto then they put evidence to make it look like he did
