Wow. This has become one of my favorite messages from Pastor John. The realness of this topic spoke/speaks loud and clear to my spirit. Dying to our woundedness is a major obstacle indeed; one that requires total faith, trust, and dependency on Christ. We must be willing to surrender our brokenness if we desire to truly heal.

Praise the Lord. Even though I've forgiven the person who's wronged me I could never come to terms with the fact that the person doesn't even acknowledge the fact that they've done something wrong, and it was eating me up this morning. Yet when I cried to my father in heaven he wiped my tears and he paved a way for me to listen to this podcast. Lean onto him and he will give you the desires of your heart.

All I can say is WOW! Pastor John really hit the head of the snake with this one… I’m dealing with a spouse that is constantly bringing me to tears with his treatment of me and his attitude towards me and our children, I’m not going to disrespect him and explaining the details but, I’m constantly trying as a wife to tell him how he’s making me feel or trying to tell him what he’s doing and how it’s affecting our marriage and I can not get a word in… I love how Pastor John answered this question and it has inspired me to forgive him and to let what he says go and to not show the hurt or pain he’s causes me but take it to the father in prayer and continue to love my husband and treat him as if he’s done nothing or said nothing… It’s freeing to know I don’t have to make him feel my pain or hurt but to know the father does and his love for me and care for my heart will comfort me enough to strengthen me and teach me to love like JESUS without stipulations…

Here’s how I am able to forgive those who have deliberately caused me unbearable grief. The evil done against me is actually their problem. Not my problem. They choose to do evil. That’s on them. Has nothing to do with me. So I forgive then because that’s their choose to do evil. Not mine. They can either repent and turn to God which is preferable. Or face God’s justice in the future.

It’s vital to forgive immediately. “Father forgive them for they know not what they do” By not forgiving, you lose your peace, you don’t sleep well at night, yet the person you don’t forgive sleeps well. A great indicator of forgiveness is wishing the very best for the person you are struggling to forgive. A Divorce lawyer shared that nugget with me.

While forgiveness is necessary, it's also important to correct people where necessary. And if they don't reciprocate, that's fine. You can walk away and still forgive without reconciling with them to restore the relation to where it was

Hmmm ... This is worth hearing, but I am not wholly convinced on two points. True - often we do want to broadcast our grievances in order to harvest pity from others. But there is often another motive - to want the harmful behaviour to cease (which is not addressed in this guidance). This leads to point #2 - the guidance to keep it all between oneself and God, trusting that He is sufficiently loving and powerful to do what is necessary and right in that situation. That could be taken to mean that we should never approach someone concerning something wrong we believe they have done to us. After all, God can get that message through to them by other means ... Yet Jesus himself said the opposite, recorded in Luke 17 and Matt 18. The message here doubles down on the one-sided obligations upon the injured party, adding the need for blessing and forbearance. I can't take issue with either. But I think it leaves the picture incomplete and very one-sided. I think it would help many people if forgiveness was seen and taught, not as an end in itself, but as a means to a greater end - that of relational repair and healing. That would bring into play other issues, and responsibilities of other parties (the wrongdoer, those in the church fellowship or own family).

Only God needs to know and He knows when you have been wronged. Let Him handle it and when he does you need to be there for the person that's wronged you. That's hard to do but that's how He works for you in this life. Your goal in this life is to gain eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Jesus last act on the Cross was Forgiving His enemies, the Pharisees..He Died..and Then He was Ressurected. My enemies never admit any wrong doing. They all think self-righteously and proudly they are Right. It is easy to forgive those who admit wrongdoing. But those who refuse were hard to Forgive..but not any more! Once you see the Truth..it becomes easy. Jesus will Show you the Truth..whenever you Need Him to.

In light of this, how do we protect our families and children from harmful family members or people if we are to act as if they didn’t hurt us. I have heard John Piper speak of not re-hiring a babysitter who has harmed our children. If we are to always act as though we haven’t been hurt... how do we say no to evil.

Does one have to want and accept a warm relationship with a family member who has hurt us severely and may or may not have repented, even if there was no warmth and only malice from this person from day one? And how are we to process that trauma alone, and hide the fact that it has been a formative harm done to us that permeates almost every part of our life and our struggles in faith? How are we supposed to heal in isolation? And are we supposed to not warn others of the dangerous patterns that may endanger others?

Forgiving without repentance: Pastor John discusses the challenge of forgiving someone who doesn't admit wrongdoing or seek forgiveness. - Implications for personal relationships: The conversation led to insights about applying forgiveness in his own life with family and colleagues. - Full forgiveness: Pastor John explains that complete forgiveness requires the wrongdoer's recognition of the offense and repentance. - Enemy love: Alongside forgiveness, the concept of enemy love is discussed, involving treating adversaries with kindness and blessings. - Forbearance and endurance: The conversation introduces the ideas of bearing with one another and enduring difficult situations in love, covering a multitude of sins.

Where it's not motivated by a desire to be acknowledged in the hurt, it's a desire to have the person/people have that revelation that they were wrong AND repent. Repentance makes forgiveness easier. Some would say it makes it possible. I'm not certain there's not something meaningful there, but it seems the other's repentance is not a prerequisite for forgiveness, one to another. I'm wondering if the scale of the wrong matters. It also seems not since God's justice and righteousness are so high as to make all wounds virtually the same before his wisdom.

Just a word of caution - I have lots of experience with narcissists (covert and malignant). These women also claim to be Christians while covering their many sins to look like wonderful people to their followers they’ve expertly deceived for decades. These types have crafted ways to receive receive receive from good-meaning, well-doing others in ways that have far-reaching, extremely negative consequences that the giver did not foresee. While I applaud comfort, compassion, and friendship towards others, I must say that extending this sacrificial giving of oneself to these types only works to affirm them in their self-righteousness and only encourages them in the demonic games they play. And they play you all like a fiddle. I have never seen an instance of this love changing a narcissist into a true biblical Christian, only masquerading as false light!

What about when a close relative is making innapropiate remarks to you? And your kids feel uncomfortable around this person. Do you continue to have a relationship and treating him good? Even when this person denies it proclaiming he is just joking. What should I do as a Christian? We have called him out and he denies doing it. I am not angry or hate this person I just don't want to be around him.

What about when a person is wrongly accused of a crime & suffers for decades in prison or receives a life sentence for a crime they didn't commit? That is horrendous & unforgiveable, especially when another person's lies affect an innocent person for the rest of their lives! What about when a person lies and causes the death of others? Jesus Christ was an innocent man & was unjustly charged! In my opinion, it is still unforgivable what was done to Jesus Christ! Yes, Jesus Christ was God & big enough to forgive His murders, but human beings all fall short of the Glory of God! Some transgressions are so great that it becomes impossible to forgive another person regardless if they are repentant or not! I wonder if you would still be speaking about forgiveness if you were subjected to a heinous crime against you or your loved ones!
@robwilkinson8497
@robwilkinson8497 5 лет назад
People miss the point when it comes to the ridicule, torture and Death of Christ. It was about the Jews being used to help provide the ultimate sacrifice. As for people telling lies about others? I live in a small town, where there is no escape from that type of thing. Its not to the point if being wrongly tried and put in jail...but its enough to smear a character where they get ostracised, for life in some cases, to the delight of the troublemakers. Its a sick and nasty world. We ought to be thankful for Christ.
@moriahcampbellart
@moriahcampbellart 4 года назад
Jesus spoke of forgiveness despite being subjected to a heinous crime against him and his loved ones (ie his Father) - and he went even farther and gave it freely to all so that we may come to the Lord and be reconciled. We could dispute about what is justified and what is not, but at its foundation, that debate would yield no good fruit. It would save no one, nor would it reconcile anyone to God’s glory. It may not be “supposed” to be this way, but it is this way. Our opinions do not change fact, and the fact is that Jesus suffered beyond anything we could ever endure, and at our hands at that! Yet he still offered himself to us again, and here we stand forgiven. If Jesus our Lord and Savior leads with that example into the kingdom of heaven, who are we as his inheritance to do any different? We are called to forgive, not to justify.
