I met Elizabeth Sladen at a Dr. Who convention in LA back in the late 70' She was completely charming and graciously danced with fans at a nightclub after signing autographs all day

The greatest Doctor and Companion. The standard by which all others are measured.

I'd love to see a modern episode done with the special effects from this time period.

As a kid, I watched the series but sometimes hiding behind a pillow because some scenes were way too scary for a 6-year-old boy. Great memories though.

Tom Baker is the Doctor Who of my era and the greatest Doctor Who as far as I’m concerned. Jon Pertwee comes in second.

The location filming for this story actually took place in Portmeirion, which is better known as The Village from Patrick McGoohan's tv series 'The Prisoner'.

A first I thought this was a full episode!

There's a Dr Who audio book called "Beautiful Chaos" that follows "The Masque of Mandragora" story, read by Bernard Cribbins. Starring the David Tennant Dr and Donna Noble! Well worth a listen.

Love this story. Really grown on me over the years. Some great performances from the guests, some of the best in the history of the show.

You know it takes watching these to understand what the Doctor means when he says, "No one ever listens!" It's exasperating!

I’m liking these classic who short clips,keep them up! Especially these types of ones that are the stories in 30 minutes, Please do more!

I wonder if Sladen have had some training in woodwinds like the clarinet...note how she unconsciously did the reed-moistening on that recorder. They don't have reeds, but someone with the training would have that habit whenever holding one. Putting herself in that position might trigger her sense memory.

I just bought this story and honestly it's one of my favorites already. been a fan of this series nearly 9 years as of right now and I have many stories to watch and buy

Water Down the Drain, a Sparker and CSO - Classic Who SFX at their finest!

I am watching this because I grew up with the modern era and always wanted to try the classics

I really liked this one. It was Hugh spirited, the energy was high, the music and cinematography were above average, the guest performers were enjoyable and I dug the designs of everything from the SFX to the masks themselves. Fun fact: there’s a novel and an audiobook that acts as a sequel called Beautiful Chaos.

Sad that it wasn't the whole thing. I could tell the moment new characters appeared and weren't introduced. Still good that I saw an episode of classic Who though, when I wasn't even born at the time it was first aired.

Watching old TV is like a sort of time travel.thats u back to the time when u first watched it.

I'd rather watch it unedited. Bit difficult to follow with bits missing.

Those were good times back then in Britain. The seventies and I enjoyed the series and theme music at the end.

Mandragora Helix aka blue paint going down the drain. The sfx budget was lower than Tom's daily lunch budget

I loved Dr. Who as a child in the 1970s. I was about 7 years old, and I did get really frightened. I really enjoyed his companions, Sarah Jane Smith and Leela. Tom Baker is unbeatable in my opinion. I think Peter Hinchcliff worked very skillfully to inject the horror genre into the show.

Loved Tom Bakers "come get some" eyes and expressions. Man was Classic Who the absolute best EVER!!

No expense spared on the special effects once again! I can imagine the read through now. OK folks our first spacial disturbance encountered by The Doctor and Sarah is the Mandragora Helix. It is something really large and powerful. We really need to sell its intensity and scale. Any ideas? *Someone stirs their cup of tea. Ahhh Haa!

The first time I watched this, on YTV in Canada, I used to think this was originally played daily like some sci fi soap opera.

Tom Baker is a real awesome actor. Iit's to bad they still don't use him more in the new adventures of Doctor Who. There is no reason they can't use him. He still awesome actor at 86 years of age.

I can't remember if someone already has, but is there a video of the isolated music from this story, that and Sarah's last but one story, always makes it one of my favorites.

This story works better as a 30 minute episode. I feel at 4 parts it drags a lot. You could go from part 1 to part 4 and not miss much.

When the story ruled the show. No outside issues influenced the story line, no attempts at feeble post modern humour. OK, it was simplistic, but as far as I can see, far more genuine and sincere than the overblown, indulgent, affected self-indulgence that the modern version of Who provides. Bur Hell, many people love the modern version, so what do I know?

"Ah-haaaaa..." "What's that?" "It's the wife running away another of her luminous Lush baths..."

Notice the long stretches of time with no dialogue whatsoever. That’s something that literally NEVER happens in nu who, in which the writers seem to think there’s some rule of television that says characters must never stop talking for even a moment.

I love modern Dr who, from the 10th through the 12th, but I've never seen any classic who episodes. They aren't available on any of the streaming services I have. So I'm watching this, thinking this is an upload of a full on regular episode, and I'm confused as hell. I'm thinking "this episode is a mess! It's just jumping all over the place and I can't follow what's going on." It took me longer than I'd like to admit to go check the video description to see if this back and forth, seemingly random, clip situation was just the crazy style old who was made in...or if it was in fact a highlights clip. I was very relieved to find out I was just being an idiot, and that old who isn't this incoherent 😄 in my defense the length of the video and the opening tag saying what episode this was made it look, to me, like this was a full upload. I'm glad it's not garbage because I'm really looking forward to watching all of the old episodes in the future.

Sarah: Doctor what is that? Doctor: it’s the kitchen sink, but someone appears to be pouring blue paint and soap particles down the plug hole!
