Alfa Romeo misfire problem solved on my Alfa GT. I'll show you how to diagnose a misfire and replace an ignition coil. 9 out of 10 if you have a misfire on a GT, it will be the one of the coils. It's a 5 minute fix that only needs simple hand tools.

You don't need Bosch ignition coils. NGK and Denso will be a good choice too. I have the same engine 156 Turismo Internazionale and I replaced my old Bosch ignition coils to NGK and it works flawlessly. Only MAF sensor you should get Bosch. But great content. Keep up the good work. :)

Hey man, nice video! And nice car as well! Just to let you know, I commented on one of your Ford Focus videos regarding a problem I was having with mine, the "throttle" when accelerating. Turns out that it was a problem just like this one, a misfire on cylinder 2 and 4. It didn't show any problems on the scanner nor the panel (like your Alfa Romeo), and it passed all tests during inspection (fuel and air), but analyzing the issue step by step (ignition, fuel, air), we were able to discover it. Using an oscilloscope, it was possible to check the relative power output from each spark plug cable, and that detected a "negative" curve on cylinders 2 and 4. Something with the ignition coil "timing", which was incorrectly managing the sparks for these 2 cylinders, making them not work on full capacity. That shows why the car was having some trouble and throttling a lot when the engine required a little bit more power. Changing the ignition coil and all spark plug cables resolved the issue, the car is now "faster" per say and it's snappier when accelerating, it feels way better. I would only be guessing mate, but I would still start by looking at the coils. It gets hot under that engine cover, they cook often.

Hello sir I need you to reply to me ASAP if you can I have an Alfa Romeo julieta from 2013 I am in the UK and my car broke down far away from home. The check engine light turn on the car was shaking and I couldn't Accelerate more than 30 or 40 miles per hour now my question is do you think I might have the same issue as you? I mean I can have the same problem can be the spark plugs or the coils?

Hi Erick you know what? Many things that once were made in Europe, now, they are made in China and other countries where the production is low cost. Faulty diesel injectors are headaches, for replacement or taking them to the repair shop, for the expensive costs here in Italy. (Everything here in Europe it's expensive, for the inflation and for Russian/ Ukrainian war costs). Anyway, to avoid the issue, sometimes I use a pump and injector cleaner to add in the fuel tank, when the engine starts running rough. I think it is the best way for a good maintenance. Gasoline injectors are quite cheaper than the diesel ones, but the cost of new is still expensive.

Hi, yes unfortunately they don't make parts to last these days... they are engineered to fail, so that you keep spending money on new parts, or even new cars. I don't like this economy method, and that's part of the reason why I think that older cars are better. They just last longer. Most new cars these days will fail a few months after the warranty runs out - this is intentional. Lots of plastic, lots of low quality parts. But anyway, it's quite easy to replace an ignition coil on an Alfa GT so at least that's okay 🙂

@@Horus_Works What clicked that it should be on is we removed the IMRC unit… so it should definitely be on with that removed! But the snap on reader picked up the things I suspected were awry with it! Very strange…. Even the manual ODB method on the Carly wouldn’t show up anything!

@@LincolnRobinson I suspect these bluetooth OBD readers are pretty basic - better than nothing but not perfect. The Snap On I suspect is waaaaaaay more sophisticated.
