Where can you find the most expensive and luxurious villas in Prague? In Bubeneč, of course! And no wonder - even though it is in the middle of the city, it is perfectly quiet. That is why this district of Prague has been and is chosen by prominent personalities for their residences.
Take a look at the Prague villas that have been home to artists, industrialists, army generals and successful businessmen, and which are now mainly occupied by Czech billionaires.
Pellé's Villa
The owner of the Libeň brewery, Karel Knobloc, had a luxury property built on the site of the original pear orchard. The villa changed hands over time and was occupied by the French general Maurice Pellé, after whom it is named. Today, the house belongs to the city, thanks to which it hosts exhibitions of Czech artists, for example.
Suchard's Villa
The author of the monument to František Palacký, the Czech sculptor Stanislav Sucharda, had a luxurious house built in Bubenč, which is connected to a second building - a studio. The author of the buildings is the famous architect Jan Kotěra. Today, both villas belong to the descendants of the legendary sculptor and you can find the Stanislav Sucharda Museum here.
Much Villa
Alfons Mucha and his family lived on the ground floor of this majestic villa, and had a studio on the upper floors. Unfortunately, he only enjoyed the house for less than ten years. In the summer of 1939 he died after being interrogated by the Gestapo and a Wehrmacht officer moved into the villa. Today the house belongs to Czech billionaire Pavel Hubáček, who is the owner of Bank Creditas and the Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary.
The (former) villa of Karel Svolinski
A new building stands today on the site where the painter Karel Svolinský had a beautiful functionalist villa built. The Russian owner demolished the valuable historical building without any permission and had the most expensive villa in Prague built in its place. The house has five floors filled with luxury. And surprisingly, it's for sale - it could be yours for half a billion. You can see what it looks like here: prazdnedomy.cz/domy/objekty/d...
Kapsova villa
Originally built by Lumír Kapsa, the co-owner of the construction company, the villa was designed by architects Adolf Loos and Karel Lhota. However, the villa has recently undergone extensive renovation after it was bought by Daniel Křetínský, the fourth richest Czech and owner of Sparta football club. The garden of the villa is adjacent to the stadium...
