I LOVE the Engine, i like the suspension update, the sound ist awesome, but the 21th light mask is not my favorite... I hope she lokks better live. Greetings from Germany
The phenomenal electronics and brakes of the 2018 model saved my life after a driver illegally pulled out in front of me. As long as I live I will always love Yamaha for creating this wonderful machine.
Just sold my mt-07 for a zx6r ^^. Loving the supersport life, getting her ready to hit the track once I get all the necessary gear together. I've ridden the mt-09 a few times and love it. Fits me much better than the smaller mt-07 did, and the power increase is a huge welcome. I would have loved adjustable rear sets on the 07, what a super value add right there. Thanks for the video, I know it's a lot of time to run a channel in English, but we really really appreciate it.
First of great review! Second, the sp version only has öhlins in the back. Fully adjustable kyb in the front. Went to the dealer and preorder a sp in januari and i can't wait to ride it!
Alberto thanks for this video. I just bought the MT-09 and your video helped me make my decision. I traded in a 2009 FZ-1 and though this is a very different bike it is amazing in its own way. Also, my family comes from Sicilia and it was nice to see you ride there. Ciao.
This is a group review done right. You are maintaining distance from the other riders, they are not in the frame often. Very entertaining and good review
Great review Alberto. Just been looking at the SP version compared to the KTM 890R. The price is very reasonable. I am coming around to the look of the headlights. I think its looks will be improved with a rear seat cowl. Anyway, that's enough fun for one day! Go home and get another MotoGP podcast out will you! 😉😂
Ciao... came here by suggestion of YT. thx for review. Your English is indeed above average and I could understand most of it. Grazie mille.. Ciao from Holland
If I wasn’t convinced about this bike, with your video I’m totally convinced that I like it . Very clear and understanding all the topics. Thank you for posting!!
I did a test ride on the MT09 SP and found the suspention really bad good to hear this is no longer an issue even on the standard model also just wondered what the new bike was like for wind protection? Do you get any at all?
a genuine review , much ❤️ from India . I still don't understand why yamaha had to give that weird facelift to the MT series, no doubt it's a wonderful bike but they killed the road presence of an aggressive street naked. The MT was once and always a performer . The first gen MT 09 had more muscle and it suited for riders between the age of 27-40 The second gen is... THE BEST design till date and it suited for riding groups of almost every age group The current gen is much focused on beginner level and would attract more young blood right from 18 ( legal age to ride motorcycles) and I don't think it would convince a rider in the age group of 27-35 . And this bike being in the A2 CATEGORY (euro licensing policy) , I would never encourage youngsters to own this bike as their first beginner high capacity motorcycle.
It's always been like that...SP is for people who don't actually go on track. It's ok, it's better, but it's not track spec. But it's fine...maybe less than 10% of owners go on track anyway.
Great Video bro. Awesome bike. I love that you shared a little bit of the difference between the confidence a street rider may have over a track rider.
When he was talking about the weird deep rumble outside that didn't let him sleep and said he opened the windows to check out what was going on, I half expected it to be some dude riding an mt09 hahaha
Thanks for the review Alberto! You have a new sub! Yamaha engineers also lend their expertise in sound engineering in one of the most iconic cars in the world: LEXUS LFA. So really was an eye (or ear) opening for me to know that they are doing it on their bikes, which is great!
Great review!! The front looks cool! I did not like it before too, but now I have seen it in real, it looks super cool. That claxon thingy looks not nice there yea lol
My first watch of your videos, Alberto - thanks, very good review. Liked the Mt. Etna intro’; glad it didn’t spoil the ride. The Mt-09 looks a cracker of a bike tech and performance wise, but I’m still not convinced by the styling. That front headlight is a no, no! You wouldn’t see the Italians spoiling the lines of their Alfas and Ferraris like that? Anyway, sounds like an all round great bike and worth a test ride. Forza Alfa, Sicily and the Targa Florio!
The competition in terms of price and features is the BMW F900R. I have one but it had problems from the start so I am considering the MT-09 in the future.
I am deciding between Z900, MT09, Street triple RS, Tuono 660. I am prefering driving several hours after working, sometimes circuit driving. Which one do you thing is the best for? Is MT09 good also for track driving or do you thing that for Tuono 660 is faster on track?
Newly subbed! Thank you sir, for the review. I have been looking at exactly this bike for a while now as an option to start riding again. Very helpful. I always did like triples, since the Jota, which is why it got my attention. Volcanoes, on the other hand, I am well used to, where I am in the Andes, LOL!
Yes, most of my family is from Sicily. Also how is the ride by wire on the YAMAHA MT-09? Or Yamaha's in general? I know on the Ducati's I have rode it can create some surging, jerkiness, abrupt or undesired results with modulating the throttle or holding it steady. Putting some inserts in the throttle assembly, for the cam to create a cushion, or rebound, fixes the issues.
Naska, good review but a few points. You said "the anti slippery clutch"- its actually a slipper clutch. And you mentioned fly-by-wire being new. It was also a fly by wire on the old mt09. Great job otherwise!
