*99% of video games* Boss characters during their fights: _crazy game-breaking screen-exploding bullshit_ Boss characters when you play as them: _baby bottom tier nerfed mode_ *DMC* Vergil during his fights: _crazy game-breaking screen-exploding bullshit_ Vergil when you play as him: _crazy game-breaking screen-exploding bullshit_
Devil May Cry doesn't nerf a boss turned playable character, but instead makes them EVEN MORE POWERFUL THAN BEFORE! (excluding DMC3 Vergil who didn't have JCE as a playable character like he did in his 3rd boss fight)
Imagine thinking that Mahvel created the OP Vergil. Nah, they just continued the tradition, Vergil always has been OP in every game in which he is playable.
@@Gration_ I mean, he got like 4 big moves and some DT exclusive stuff now can be made out of it. He also got a block and some other stuff. But for the most part is a compilation of the other 3 playable Vergils
@Adam J. Harper thats when you mix up your timings to bait out royalguard. Its also hard af to block fast frame attacks unless you know attack patterns which is hard for pvp. Dante will be godlike but only with high execution (which is fair imo).
I love the moment he does the map slash and the music/sound just goes out of the window just to come back in when Vergil sheates his sword, is a blessed thing
@@AtomicSwagsplosion I'd say Dante is slightly better in DMC4SE because of Royal Guard, but Vergil was only a hair behind and far easier to use, and I'd argue that Heavy Rain Swords is one of the best moves in the series (if not the best period) due to it being an on-demand stun for the absurdly low cost of one DT orb, plus you can use it while charging Beowulf. Hello, guaranteed Dragon Breaker.
I meant I did the same thing. I'm a big fan of the series but I never got the special editions. When 3 came out my ps2 broke and I never owned 4 until recently when I bought the HD Collection. Even more bizarre Devil May Cry 2 was my first game.
@@ShinMalphur devil may cry 5 I've played on higher difficulties, Still easier than bayonetta. 3 is by far the hardest, but I don't entirely remember what difficulty I played the ones other than 5 on. I never play on easy, I usually at least play on normal. Then when i beat the game I usually go back and try missions, on harder difficulty, I don't think I did that with 3 though. that said... Just looking at the mechanics from bayonetta alone, like you can't whiff your dodge 3 times, otherwise you get punished, or like the insane damage from the enemies at times, or the lack of a devil trigger that heals you.
Vergil's not the only character who seemed seemingly invincible but loses to his younger brother. It's been there various other anime series for decades. best analogy would be InuYasha where the older brother of the main character was a full blooded demon, has an amazing cool and collected personality with god like abilities and skill, and yet time and again he was sent packing. The conflict between them involving their swords is also another thing.
Well, time for Max to do a Vergil Legacy, he's as clueless to Vergil as I was to Dante when I first tried the series. EDIT - And Legendary Dark Knight Mode it seems. Well, least it would be a very short Legacy Series.
I would hate for them to show up in MK. The best thing about them playing is how fast and fluid their movements are, and MK is anything but fast and fluid.
@@daboyz2374 Ehh unfortunately I don't think KI is popular enough for Capcom to even think about it, and plus Capcom is not really a Xbox leaning company, and KI is exclusive on xbox.
@@daboyz2374 True lots of people dont realize the business aspects of things like that. If capcom did put all the dmc 5 characters in a fighting game, and then on top of that A Xbox ONLY fighting game not only would that more then likely piss off sony, but would piss off all their Playstation player base and rise losing sales on other games because.
“I hate this character! He’s so fucking cool!” Literally me whenever I see Vergil. 😭😭 He can steal my soul any day of the week and I’d be okay with it.
2:11 “How is this fair for the enemies in the game?” Gee you think that it was unfair enough when Dante got SDT and Summon Swords when he got Devil Sword Dante
Ohh, your forgetting faust hat haha 😆 but you’re right. Those are all strong moves. You still had to be somewhat smart with SDT and can’t use it right away. But if you time and place faust hat well, it can help you kill things pretty quick. That weapon’s good, abit too good.
@@furious_malic7808 You can use SDT whenever you want as long as you have Quadrupled S. And the strong moves on Faust Hat requires a lot of orbs. Then again, that drawback doesn’t really matter if you have a ton of orbs saved up already
Honestly same. I do wish that the gauntlets were something other than Beowulf tho. Not different in gameplay, but different visually, like how the Mirage Edge is just the Force Edge. Woulda been cool if the gauntlets were called "Urizen" and reflected his visual aesthetics
I know it's suuuuper unlikely, but I wish they did a noncanon story for vergil, where he actually was a "good guy" and Dante was urizen, and some updated story/dialogue would be awesome, but alas, $5 dlc wouldn't go that far, lol
@@motivation_exceeded6611 I mean that's the actual dlc price you pay that's not included in the special edition, lol. But I wouldn't mind $20 or so for an actual story dlc for vergil, or like 4, maybe even playable Trish and lady again
@@motivation_exceeded6611 Nah remaking all the games as just a roll reversal does NOT sound like a good idea lmao. Then it'd look like capcom Is just running out of ideas.
By the lore, he should be had Mundus abilities since part of him ate the fruit who also source of Mundus power. But that would be more broken than ever.
I'm so happy Vergil is a mix of his 3 and 4 incarnations and then some! And the rule of thumb with Vergil, he has always got to be OP asf in everything he is in and the tradition still stands! He has always been insanely fun and I can't wait to play him when I get my PS5, also lol Max's reactions are always on point
@@Brollyssweetface yes he does. a capcom community manager did a showcase stream yesterday and whenever he strings three (or was it 2?) normal JCs together he shouts 'JACKPOT'
That rapid strike thing Vergil does with Yamato looks exactly like Uesugi Kenshin's from Sengoku Basara. Not surprised since DMC and Basara have been copying moves from each other for years. I believe they both have the same battle planner?
@@sulthanarya3281 Those are just easter eggs. The latest Basara has Masamune and Mitsunari have Dante and Vergil costumes and weapons respectively. There's also MonHun, RE, and Street Fighter costumes too. Basara is a Capcom game afterall. Too bad Basara might never make a worldwide release after Samurai Heroes, but I'm still hoping.
@@KuroNoTenno your right. I tried him again recently because it’s been ages since I played his Dmc3se version and correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think he has extra string combos like Dante in 3. That’s disappointing but he is still abit of fun to mess around with. Definitely not as fun as Dante though.
Can't wait to see the inevitable gif of the PC mod version of 14:00 with a 2b model and the enemies being buff shadowed eyes men. Yep a quick 5 sec gif of that "I know where this is going" would be awesome to see somewhere. >_> (stares at the entire internet!)
A lot of this Vergil is ported from dmc4 but improved. His concentration gauge gives him a ton of powerful moves, but it goes down if he runs, misses atttacks, or gets hit. He gets it by doing moves and being idle. Should've called it the motivation meter though
Nero's arm became the *new sheath* since Vergil discarded his old one when he faced Mundus in hell(DMC3 bonus cutscene when you kill 100 enemies in the credits)~ You can also see in DMC4 when Nero saw the floating sword in the lab, and when he summons it, that it doesn't have a sheath~ Idk about Dante having the same sheath as Vergil when he retrieved it from the real hell gate~
Tbf, Vergil's downfall it's a clusterfuck. I take just some cutscenes over that. But I will admit that atleast Downfall got some cool enemy designs, which the base game lacked for the most part
I hope so too, man. More dmc is always awesome to see. I’d definitely playing the lady and trish for sure if they were playable. I hope their movelists get expanded.
*Vergil transforms into Sin DT* Dante: Hey that's my "thing" get your own form! Vergil: Well we are twins after all. Dante: I don't think that's how that works.
