I think it's supposed to give a visual hierarchy for which missiles are the best. White < Red < Yellow < Green. But there are a few mistakes, such as the AIM-9M being green on the F-15J while the AAM-3 is yellow

The F-15EX is based on the E yes, but. It is still a different airframe. Compare them side by side and you'll see how sleek and aerodynamic the EX looks compared to the bulky and heavy E. Whatever they did is absolutely incredible because the EX can maneuver like a thrust vectoring aircraft without thrust vectoring engines. The programming in the FCS is just ridiculous.

​@@RedFail1-1​​Yes, and neither will the JSI be "just an F-15C". What I was trying to say is that it is based on it in the way that it too will be a single seat aircraft mainly focused air combat. It won't lean into the attack role nearly as much as the E based EX. I never meant to say the EX wasn't a very capable airframe, just point out a difference to the JSI.

@@mauswaffeit will be lighter, but EX will have loads more thrust, since it uses those GE motors seen on the F-16C.

@@jacobbaumgardner3406 From what I understand the only basis to the claim that the JSI does not upgrade engines comes from an article using the sole source that nothing about such upgrades was mentioned. However these seem to disregard just how little we actually know about the project. Another thing worth noting is the collaboration with Boeing on the project, with them even stating it to be onpar with the F-15EX and F-15QA, as well as calling it a "total transformation of the jet". Both of this is from Boeings announcement of the project in 2022. What I see as likely is that an engine upgrade is planned, mainly due to the planned increase in payload demanding it. Only that no public information in specific details has been released yet.

@@SixteenthSine20 most of the games are 12.7 and 12.3 when queuing 11.7. AIM-54 spam has also been borderline broken.

Not sure when you tested them, but at least on launch they had a REALLY poor delta V and overall were just not great, apparently that's being adjusted though

​@GeneralLee2000 they patched the motor from a MICA one over to a single stage motor with 20100 newtons for 7.5 seconds now, so acceleration is better than the AMRAAM up to about 12km, then the 120 holds the lead but, the AAM-4 has slightly lower drag as well so- the two are somewhat interchangeable now

@@GeneralLee2000 Did a basic test at 8,000m against static mach 1 targets to see how much speed the missiles bleed at various distances at altitude. Shooting at 40km, Aim-120A/B is doing ~1.65 mach at impact (~1.8 with 25 degree loft) while AAM-4 is doing ~1.8 mach with no modifiers (Marked improvement over dev server state, where the same test yielded an impact speed of mach 1 despite a slightly higher top speed💀). Time to impact difference was still ~2-3 seconds in favor of Aim-120A/B, presumably due to acceleration. The missiles about even out at ~30km with or without the added loft for Aim-120, and within 20km, Aim-120 appears to be slightly superior, also presumably due to acceleration. It should also be noted that it appears AAM-4 does not get to as high a speed as Aim-120A/B (~3.25 mach to Aim-120's ~3.6), which, factoring the impact speed difference (or lack there of), suggests the missile has a superior ballistic coefficient. However, from gameplay experience, AMRAAM's superior acceleration appears to put in more work once the air gets thicker, as AAM-4's motor struggles more to get it fast down low due to the extra missile weight.

@Registered_Simp The AAM-4 accelerates faster than the AMRAAM, though in the first 5-6km, and the two end up passing around 12km. Within that zone, the AAM-4 should have the edge as its motor burns for 7.5 seconds at the full 20100, whereas the 120A/B motor would only burn the main motor for a few seconds and then the slightly weaker sustainer for another few seconds- at least if I'm remembering the numbers right

As a bvr enjoyer, I'd like to explain this topic a bit. When i was flying low in furballs, most of my deaths came from sudden irccm fox2 appearing from the nowhere. I couldn't realistically do anything to prevent that death. When I die in a bvr fight, I know that that was my mistake, I could've done something differently and win that fight or at least escape it. That's what keeps my interest in this kind of a gameplay

In game it currently has more range but is slower than an AIM-120B. It also has lower maneuveravility in G load, but I've heard pulls more AoA as well making it more agile than the statcard says. Though the missile is still very inaccurate as of now, with the real AAM-4 featuring 5-10% increased maneuverability over AIM-120B as well as higher speed thanks to a dual stage motor that is similar, yet higher thrust, to that of the AIM-7M it replaced in Japanese service. Tge G loading higher than AMRAAM by 5-10% would be ~37-38G in single plane for a conventionally controlled AAM-4. However I've also heard that it might be a bank to turn controlled missile, using the roll controls it has to use the directional fuse. This would mean that the maneuverability is consistently dual plane. However in game this would force a single plane maneuverability, generally dual plane divided by 1.4, of only ~26-27G until Gaijin decides to add BTT controls for missiles that have it. The only other missile to have this that is in game is the AAM-3, which currently has a single plane G loading of 40G, but would go up to 56G with BTT controls added.

I agree about too many players but you see a lot less ground huggers now which is amazing to keep away from fox 2 furballs.

Ye dont understand it tbh, on technical terms the aam-4 should be a tad bit better than the aim-120c, but …. Gajin just doesnt linke the japanese. We have seen it with the aam-3 already, 33% more g than the 9m but it barely performs better.

If you watch defyn's vid, he flies high quite regularly to maximize his PK per missile. You just have to be aware of your MAR because that is crucial to not eating a missile yourself.

it's weird that there are more people flying high with the fox-3 update, every game there's at least 6 guys climbing up to 10k alt. before the update there little to none doing this.

It had the PSP radar that the F-15A got this update currently, and it doesn't have Derby it has AMRAAM. Israel doesn't use Derby, like at all.

I see the low-flyers adapt these days. At the first day of this patch, almost every fox1/3 shot at low-flying target resulted in a kill. Today if half of mid-range amramm shots hit anybody on the deck, I call it a success
