The Overhate for Vivziepop (and why she's incomparable to Amazing Digital Circus) 

I’ve been a Vivziepop fan since the Hazbin pilot and I really don’t get why she’s so hated. She isn’t perfect by any means, but she’s done far more good for the indie animation scene than bad. Even if you don’t like Hazbin or Helluva, you have to admit that her works and success contributed a lot to the success of other indie animations. Most fans of Hazbin/Helluva are also fans of shows like Lackadaisy and Amazing Digital Circus. Why compare/contrast them if they’re all good in their own special way?

Not to mention Gooseworx worked with Vivziepop on Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss and Gooseworx herself created The Amazing Digital Circus

Honestly I’m glad this video exists. Sometimes i feel like i can’t even enjoy or talk about stuff like helluva boss online with out feeling like I’m going start a large argument on discord

These two show have a lot of fucking swearing, and sex jokes. But it also has heart.

I remember when people were saying the writing for Lackadaisy was better than the writing for Helluva Boss. My hot take take on that situation is that it was never about the writing. Lackadaisy is a period piece and fits neatly in the historical fiction genre. From what I have observed, there is a tendency to hold movies, books and shows that are informed and inspired by historical events and time periods. Helluva Boss is a raunchy adult comedy which are often looked down on. In short, people just thought a period piece had more literary merit than an adult comedy not because of the writing, but because of differing genre conventions and sensibilities. So then why was it about the writing? Well, it is because a lot of us suck at media analysis and criticism. Not to mention it is easier to just say the writing is inferior than actually reflect on why some stories work for you while others do not.

I love Hazbin Hotel more than The Amazing Digital Circus. HH wasn't my style of humour but the gore and music totally were my style. However, both the comedy and horror aspects TADC didn't land with me, so I have no emotional attachments to it other than it being a stellar piece of animation (I cannot deny it's good on a technical level). They're both vastly different shows with little points of comparison beyond "popular indie animation".

I gonna be honest, I like TADC but the whole plot and concept of HH, or even HB, is far more creative. Viv deserves her flowers because she opened doors with the HH pilot. Period! I just want her to get out of twitter for a while and that's it. EDIT: Even though nobody said anything, I kinda feel that my comment sounds like as if I disliked TADC because of it's troupe but I don't think so! The series is inspired by the troupe's main source material and has a very unique aesthetic. The real magic of the show is there and the characters themselves. That's why I still like TADC even though I think that HH is actually more creative.

I don’t know if this is based or not, but my honest opinion here is that Hazbin and Helluva Boss are just not for me personally, but that doesn’t mean I dislike Vivzie or anything related to the show! I LOVE that the series helped kickstart (or revive) the next generation of indie animation, and I’m super proud of her and her team for shattering expectations! Just because I don’t personally like Hazbin or Boss, doesn’t mean I’m against them in any way! They’re just not for me.

honestly, I didnt get the joke of "digital circus if it was written by vivzie pop" cuz I feel like if vivzie was writing a show for more age audiances in a world that wasnt the lieral hell she could have totally write something still decent, i do wonder if the reason why tadc and helluva boss are so different, it is as if they are two completly different worlds and two completly different settings

Damn, I haven't seen much from Vivziepop since her old Die Young animation back in the 2010s, but I really don't get why she's getting lambasted this hard for things in the past, when she's clearly learned. I also don't think it's a problem that she has swearing in her show (to an extent, it does get kind of excessive some places). Also, I respectfully disagree with your take about Pomni being a simple character, because the way you described her could easily be used on someone like Charlie from Hazbin Hotel. The generic "Everyone can be good if they try!" All-Loving Hero/Wide Eyed Idealist trope applies to her and looking at the pilot, not much else stands out, but there's clearly going to be more to both Charlie and Pomni's characters than we see in their pilots, so it's a little unfair to oversimplify them from their first appearance.

I've never really been able to get into Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss. But I can totally understand and respect all the love and fans they've received. Amazing Digital Circus grabbed me from just the pilot, characters, soundtrack, and visuals. It's already my favorite indie animation series! That absolutely does not mean other series are objectively bad or worse. It just means that TADC was more for me and my personal preferences.

To be honest I don't see anything really different in what Vivziepop does with Hazbin/HOAB, then what Tray Parker and Matt Stone has been doing with Southpark for the last 25+ years, that shows done everything and way more 'controversial' then what Vivzi's done. Its just we now live in a time of the easily offended and those who are having access to online media and criticism of works so much more then southpark did in its hay day.

Well... Vivienne surely did a lot of certain... stuff. And I was really judgmental towards her and her shows because I was honestly guided by a common morality statements till that one day when I suddenly realized that I can tell same shit about literally everyone in my circle including myself. Nobody's perfect. We all did so many mistakes. Who are we to judge her? Yes she's a vulnerable person she's childish sometimes and yes her writing was always pretty... lazy. And a lot of her fans got tired from her favorite sex jokes and it's pretty fair I should say. But I got kinda used to those issues. Because I decide if I want to notice that sht or not. I'm just following very understandable plot lines and I can enjoy things I like and don't give a sht about things I dislike. It's all in our minds. I know bout all the dramas around her and all of them are honestly pathetic. Because c'mon guys she's pretty cool. I mean she did so much to become a pro in animation on a certain level and she gifted us two unique shows. They are so incomparable. I'm not a big fan of indie animation gosh I'm even a bit older than she but her media products made me their fan so she's talented no doubts in many aspects. Also she gave so much recognition to artists who's really worth the fame. Her haters are usually people looking for a cheap fame. They're often so toxic and envious. Cause she's a success. Everybody wants a piece of that cake of hers. I don't give a sht about other indie shows they've got honestly not much to offer after Vivienne. I wish one day they all would understand that they ain't perfect as well. And their content isn't something out of space. I guess I'm lucky to pick a certain show and just follow it. If there's anything TADC asd HH/HB have in common, it's that they are amazing shows

It certainly is a matter of personal tastes and experiences. Even within Viv's work, the redemption theme of Hazbin gels with me more than the murder/relationship drama themes of HB (based on what I've read about the latter; I haven't seen very much of it). On a personal level, I'm hoping to redeem myself from the poor choices I made predominantly between ages 16 & 24. I've also never had much of a social life. Zoophobia's premise also intrigues me more than HB, and I think its characters have a lot of potential. But will Viv still feel like doing more with it once she's no longer occupied with one or both of the hell shows? We'll see. As for TADC, I'm very excited to see how Gooseworx will explore each of her characters with some backstories or the like. I'm also very curious as to how they are being held there and the origins of the mysterious headset. Lastly, in terms of the swearing, I think there's an art to not coming off as, "Hoo, look at me, I'm edgy!" When using it.

I love viziepop’s content, I like watching indie animations from youtubers who aren’t a part of big companies. I watched episode 7 of season 2 before watching this video and I feel like the people making mountains out of these little molehills give off similar energy to the insane fizzy fan turned hater in the episode.

i don't understand people hate for "excessive profanity" like, it's just a word. heck, ITS FITTING FOR SHOW TAKING PLACE IN HELL. excessive sexual jokes on the other hand are understandable, depends on if it feels forced and honestly it feels like Chaz is the most annoying in that aspect. striker was kinda annoyed too easy, but i thought the last joke at the end was good, they could've left the last one in and the removed the majority of the sex jokes with striker and stolas and it could've been funnier. besides that i don't see any problem.

I just hate how a lot of the comments from Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss haters down here in the comment section are teenagers who are sure they can "fix" or "do better" than the creator, then you take a look at what they've done as artists and find out that they wrote a fanfic once, which is as likable as sausage water. ok, I understand that the creator may have made unpleasant comments, and as an individual she has a lot of room for improvement. We just have to remember these rules to be better spectators and less like assholes: - separate the work from the creator. Your experience is always better when you appreciate a work without taking into account the comments spoken by those involved in its production. - Did you find any script or world-building errors? How about *thinking* a little and finding clues to fill in with other fans? :) - if there is a big problem that has no justification in the show, suggest changes to the creator! (in a respectful way, giving space for the creator to express their opinions as well.) - if your criticism isn't going to help anyone improve and is intended to offend or just complain, how about keeping it to yourself? that way maybe you'll make some friends!

I remember browsing through memes about hazbin hotel and found a combination of the Hazbin Hotel universe and The Exorcist / Bogdan Boner The Exorcist by Bartosz Walaszek. What a beautiful combination it was.

I really don't get it, why put indie shows against another, there are so many factors that come into play, much more than for studio produced shows, it's not a competition, youtube is an open platform and you can watch as much as you want, creators more often than not support each other so the fans should fallow their example

Honestly there’s so much swearing that my brain doesn’t even pick it up anymore. That’s just how the characters talk. I don’t feel strange about it. I personally don’t swear (unless I’m particularly ticked off) but I have no problem with it.

The same people who criticize Helluva boss probably respect Brand Rogers who is way worse in every single way (I am a big fan im just saying). And shows aren't all about "Oh the funni" i have rarely laughed at Helluva boss or Hazbin hotel yet i still like the story. If i wanted to laugh i wouldn't be watching a show.

I always thought of like.. The setting of Helluva boss takes place IN HELL following demons that were put in hell for being bad people? They swear and have sex a lot, so they talk about it all the time. Even if it does get excessive at times it's still comedy to some people. I mean let's take south park for example. Growing up, 9/10 south park episodes I'd watch capitalized on race or sexuality (Typically in the homophobic fashion) to get a quick and easy laugh. Same with the boondocks with Riley, a main character, having a catchphrase of "N----, You gay". Or Uncle Ruckus overusing racial stereotypes in a genuinely racist fashion as a reoccurring joke. Don't get me wrong, I find both of those shows hilarious but at least In HH and HB there's genuine character development and somewhere to go from all of the childish jokes. I mean, ffs Blitz was an incredibly troubled child and is still pretty childish in adulthood. He swears and has sex a lot because he's immature. That's his character. Angel dust swears a lot because he's literally a drug addict. Moxxie rarely swears because he's proper. And, on that note, Millie doesn't over-swear because she was literally one of the only characters in the show with a moderately good upbringing. The writing is genuinely way more deep than "Urrrrrrrr hot owl fucky time blitzyyyy" and leads deeper into the inner workings of the character's minds while also being funny. The fact that so many people are genuinely upset by the way she does her writing is weird in it's own right, but looking over so much character and ignoring other popular shows that do the exact same thing or worse is genuinely appaling to me

BFDI MENTIONED!! There was a time where BFDI and Helluva Boss had an altercation due to some award thing that both shows were nominated for. BFDI ended up beating Helluva Boss and winning the whole thing and HB fans started insulting BFDI as a show for surface level reasons and it's fans were constantly insulted. So I'm not that sympathetic towards those fans because they act the exact same as their haters.

Putting their own creativity and ideas into the movie. If you want accurate historical demonology, write or make fan art of that but leave creative artist alone. Also the swearing counter only works for Blitz, he's swearing like a sailor that's his way of talking. Try use this swear counter on Moxxie, it won't have the same effect or better yet on Harley Quinn show. They have far more swear words then Helluva Boss and no one says a thing to that.

I get that some people don’t like the swearing in helluva boss/hazbin hotel, but it’s hell. It’s probably normal for the demons to swear that much and make sexual jokes of the sort. If anything it would be would weird if they didn’t.

The whole argument of "too many swears" etc is a pretty minor issue to basically not being an issue at all. I remember when i watched the pilots for HH & HB the swearing and goofy sound effects was definitely overused, however for HB overtime as more episode were released they very noticeably eased up on the swearing (if i'm remembering correctly). So for HH we could have just gotten a trailer and a pilot that had a bunch of swearing in it but the bulk of the episodes crude humour could be more spread out and less rapid fire. Also the many comparisons between Viv's work and Glitch and even lackadaisy is so pointless that i'd even go as far as to say that most comparisons are made by Viv's fans and critics to justify their love or hate for her work.

To be honest, I don't even think criticism of Vivziepop for the crass humor and sexual references is actually fair or legitimate. It's perfectly fine for one not to like it or want to consume media with it, but it's just another form of humor. And we're literally talking about a show set in Hell. I don't think one should expect that imps and demons live their lives with a swear jar by the door.

When coming across this drama that I so happen to run into while I was just minding my own business is just so ridiculous that it felt like I got a headache by just looking at it. The whole "TADC if it was written by the writters of Helluva Boss" situation is honestly really stupid and pointless drama that just didn't need to exist. I honestly think Viv really should've just ignored that joke video and just mind her own business because her tweeting the situation didn't really help her case that much. I like Vivzie and her hard work on Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, but she really didn't need to be involved with something that is just making a joke out of "how" one of her shows was written. But, I understand why she got triggered by the video because I honestly think the joke video about TADC having excessive swearing just felt really distasteful for how that is how Vivzie writes in both the Hazbin Hotel pilot and Helluva Boss. I watched the Hazbin Hotel pilot so many times that the amount of swearing wasn't excessive to the point where it is not present every five seconds or so. Hazbin Hotel is really tame compared to Helluva Boss. Helluva Boss is more excessive with the swearing and I can understand why it can get very annoying after a while, but I see the series as more than just a compilation of swearing and adult humor. There was stories to tell and I liked the characters quite a bit from what I've seen in the series (although I haven't seen every single episode). In my personal opinion, watching that joke video I mentioned at the beginning really wasn't funny to begin with and seeing the trend of "X show if it was written by Vivziepop" tweets and threads is honestly very annoying and grating to come across. If the joke video was re-worded without the context of poking fun at one of Vivziepop's show's style, then I would see it as just another post that got popular and just move on. And the discourse of comparing TADC to Vivzie's shows is honestly very stupid and pointless because I agree that these shows aren't really comparable despite some noticeable similarities. In general, I'm not one to compare pieces of media with each other and just dumping one over the other. TADC and its pilot in my personal opinion is not my favorite because it really just didn't click my attention to become a fan of it unlike other people who do. I watched it a couple of times and I just don't personally think it is memorable enough for myself to be a fan of it. It is a decent pilot with some flaws, but I'm just not one of those people who is a fan of the indie animation series. It does deserves its popularity it gets and I did see that a lot of effort was put into it. TADC is just not for me to be a fan of it. Hazbin Hotel on the other hand clicked with me when I first watched the pilot for the first time back in the year of 2020. I fell in love with it to the point where I watched the pilot so many times and the fan content throughout the past couple of years until I heard about it becoming a series later next year. The story was a great concept, the setting makes Hell look fun, the 2D style animation is very refreshing to watch in modern times, the characters are likeable in their own ways to be memorable, and the voice acting was very well done. Although it is not perfect per-say and some aspects within the pilot did not age well, but I honestly don't let the flaws hinder my enjoyment of the pilot no matter how many times I've watched it throughout the years. So yeah, that is my personal take on all this drama and discourse revolving around the TADC VS Vivziepop's shows to the "X Show if it was written by Vivziepop". It's honestly really stupid and pointless that it all had to occur when we are close to ending the year of 2023. Vivzie should honestly not reply to every single piece of controversy and just stick to Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss updates instead, while at the same time she doesn't deserve all this unjustified hate she gets on a day to day basis.

Vivzie isn't perfect but who would be perfect after so many attacks? Like seriously, Twitter looks for any reason to accuse her. Her shows are LGBTQ friendly and inclusive yet the scumbag activists were looking for reasons to call vivzie transphobic (LIKE WTF?) and homophobic because 1 or 2 examples isn't enough so it means phobia, apparently. I don’t think many of the people who actually attack her actually have good reasons to do so. Most of the time they do it to promote themselves. Plus they bring up old stuff to try and take her down without realizing people can change. Yeah, if someone did something bad back then it’s justifiable to get upset over it. But it’s not okay to think they didn’t change when other people no doubt did the same shit or worse. People are quick to judge and not look at the bigger picture. She is definitely not perfect, but it’s thanks to her that we do have a lot of these indie projects. I have no doubt in my mind that something like The Amazing Digital Circus and LackaDaisy would have as much relevance as they do now without Vizie paving that way on RU-vid. It took her a long time to get this show off the ground and people are just wanting to stop it to get clout for it. They don’t have real reasons and honestly I stop caring what stupid shit they spread.

I really enjoyed my time watching the Vivziepop shows! Helluva boss has that right amount of Raunchy that reminds me of older shows like Drawn Together. I liked the other shows like ADC, Murder Drones and Lackadaisy, but I really like Helluva Boss for it's humour and it's amount of profanity. Though I'm starting to love some of the characters. Fizz so far is starting to seem like a favorite!

I rarely swear, well at least on english xd and I have no problem with use of swears in helluva boss or hazbin hotel. These people gotta stop pretending cuz it's obvious they doing it for attention, it's popular to hate on successful popular people so they gotta find something, that's just how it is with everyone. In my opinion Vizzie's biggest problem is that she responds to it, she should just ignore the haters and focus on her work and look at the positive comments instead cuz you can't change people, haters gonna hate, you can't control that so might as well just let it go no matter how irritating it may be.

Actually I did the math and if you take the time that their are swears in the show with the total runtime of the show. The swearing takes up a whooping 2% of the shows complete runtime so far

But yeah, there is nothing wrong with Hazbin hotel and helluva boss, and there isn't any similarities, apart from the ones you mentioned and Micheal Kovach. People care too much about animation quality instead of the actual story. TADC (murder drones too) have amazing animations and stuff but for murder drones atleast, i dont understand the actual story. For hazbin hotel the story is very easy to understand and likable. (Helluva boss was also easy to understand but just a bit meh so i understand if people aren't a fan of helluva boss. Also the amount of swearing isn't even too bad, yes in Helluva Boss there's some scenes where theres a fuck ton (im so funny) but it's not always that bad. Me personally, I don’t like the digital circus at all. I respect people who do like it! I do! If you like it, that’s fine! But I don’t. I find it to be boring, bland, cringe, and unfunny. Some of the jokes in there look like they’re straight out of gacha life cringe (or gacha life itself), the pacing is awful, the character writing is… Meh. When I first watched it, I left 2/3 of the way into the video out of boredom. I feel that the only characters with good writing are Jax and Raggetha. Not to mention that Jax is ACTUALLY FUNNY! I understand that I’m likely going to get a lot of hate from this comment, but I’m simply just writing out my opinion and why I feel the way I do. So please don’t come at me with hate as I was not hating on the show, I was giving my opinion. If you like it, that’s fine! A lot of people do! Majority in fact! I just think that HB and HH are better 🤷‍♀️

The thing with Vivziepop is that none of the drama and controversy gets to her. And that's what makes her haters and detractors so goddamn angry. Like ripping a small animals head off, angry. It's actually quite hilarious. Back in the day, the best thing to do was to ignore your haters, because they'll get bored and find someone/something else to hate on. Now people are so goddamn toxic and hateful they'll just never stop throwing shade or just start saying some really horrible stuff just to ruin your life

i honestly don't care about the drama and conflict going on behind the scenes. i like both series and so far and i don't get why non related backscene drama has anything to do with the entertainment content...

Her writing seems better when she stays in certain lanes... Other than that I cant get into her content... My reaction to her writing is always just ..."hehe.... oh...hm... ok..." but her musical scores and fight sequences? My jaw drops... her team is AMAZING at animation and the visuals. Only thing I like about her writing is when she writes love/ relationship dynamics... and not because I'm some romantic... she just seems to be very good at that... Besides that her writing is so forgettable I legit don't know what the show is about. I find Ozzy and Fiz VERY interesting.... I hate that gay couples are always depicted as horny sex crazed degenerates( yes I know it's hell) ... but seeing Ozzy (the lust demon of all people) have that character development to where he first mocked love... and now he is admitting to loving someone has been such a treat to watch... Having characters overcome degenerate behavior in favor of love in Hell is brilliantly ironic... Thats why I am hoping Hazbin Hotel will be great.. Charlie is the contrast we need in Hell...

Overuse of swearing? I can name dozens of adult animated shows that are FAR worse in of swearing than Viv's shows. Atleadt Viv's stuff has it's cleverly delivered timing and a reason as to why the swearing is there in the first place.

Despite her well-known and apparent faults, the show's as well, she's still a great example of success in the animation industry and I don't believe that it's a stretch to say that she's a role model to a plethora of people. Success as grand as that like doesn't appear overnight all of a sudden and thus it should be taken into account that a massive amount of hard work has been put into each and every one of her projects which is something, at the very least if you're not a fan of her in the slightest, to be respected.

idc if there are slurs in a series i dont like it when is too often it leaves a bad taste because it shows that the writing highly relies on how stupid gen z is when it comes to humor trust me every single adult i have seen doesnt know anything about helluva boss or hasbin hotel is just teens watching this and the constant swearing is mostly a humor praised by teens nowadays the animation though is fucking incredible i cant disagree with that they really show how much dedication they have for their fanbase. Nevertheless i dont like either HB or HH but i have no problem with it aside from the slurs and just because of them but the amount of time you hear them. i think TADC does it a bit better because even if there is swearing it is cencored especially good when kids watch it unfortunately...

Anyone else wanna talk about the fact that the humor and language used in Vivziepop's shows are actually rather appropriate for their settings? Both shows take place in Hell. Naturally there's going to be some crass humor and swear words, you're dealing with demons and sinners from Hell.
