There are actually files of Bubniacks model in the game which are also remastered. This just indicates that the face change was decided later on the process (maybe a higher up Playstation or Sony had a word with Insomniac and this is where we are).
No, that is beta material for the original game - it's just a direct scan of Bubniak's head which is why it looks different; look at some alpha material. The change was certainly a higher up choice; also what I believe
I guarantee the reason they changed the face was to make him look more like Tom Holland so they're would be more visual synergy with thr MCU. It sucks they didn't think this Peter could stand on his own visually.
I feel like spider man miles morales handled his facial expressions much better since that game was made with the new face in mind, the reason it looks bad on the pc version is that the game wasn’t made with the baby face in mind but they added it any ways
I had the same thought exactly when I replayed it recently with my girlfriend. I felt bad because we weren't together when I played the original so she didn't really understand why I was so upset with Peter's emotionless fuckin face. But maybe one day Insomniac will get smart like Running with Scissors and let you play as both Peter's the way you can play as 4 different Postal Dude's in Postal 4.
after playing both i actually like the new face a lot. the only problem with it is- he kinda. always looks smiley. like his emotion doesnt change in his face. other then that no problem really
The problem with this game is if you're try playing it on PC with a gaming laptop "a high end gaming laptop" no matter what settings you apply there are horrible fps drops all the time that drop down into the single digit fps constantly and makes the game completely unplayable. It's sad when every other game I play hits in the 100+ fps range on high to max settings consistently but this game will drop into the single digits every 10 seconds while swinging around. Just shows how much the Devs actually care.
"Our new actor has matches Yuri's mocap acting more than the previous one" Okay? It's just mocap though, why change just him and only him? Also Benedict Cumberbatch did mocap for a freaking dragon in The Hobbit...it's a pretty lousy excuse and there was absolutely no reason in changing it.
I suspect it was because the model actor for the original Peter was asking for a lot of money dance the game was selling so amazingly. I think thats why they picked a UK model for the new Peter since UK models are cheaper.
anyone experiencing audio bug same as me? sometimes in the mission, the SFX becoming unaudible and the voice dialogue becoming high pitched like a chipmunk, really need help to fix that for better experience
@@Devil-it7le idk if it helps you but i had similar problems. The reason was, i locked the game to 60 fps in nvidia settings to remove some little stutters. And after that this audio glitches start appearing. So i uncapped it and it went away
@@maxgreen1804 well I got a fix too😂just need to close the game and restart it when you're having this audio glitching ..worked for me no audio glitching since then
You know that misson before Davvis death when you're in one of the Fisk's construction sites to stop the demons, well in that same mission they have a Helicopter right, i'm playing that mission right now and... the Helicopter model is quite... weird.
I’m curious to hear from someone who played the PS5 version without having played the PS4 version and experiencing it with this face model first. Did they connect with this Peter Parker more than we did or did they also feel like something was off?
The problem with his face in remastered is that IT WAS plastered over a pre-existing one. He looks much better in the Miles Morales interquel (for the one cutscene at the start atleast) and it's likely it'll look and emote even better in Spider-Man 2. I still miss his older one but I've made peace with it.
I love both, and I find the whole thing about the new face is stupid, like the amount of hate is dumb. it's to the point where the guy the new face is taken from is constantly bombarded on social media about John's face being better and that he's not the "real spiderman" and it's ridiculous. it's not a big deal, the series will continue with this face and people need to deal with it
@@Limes_not_Lemons It’s a big deal to me personally, I won’t go to the point of making the other dude feel bad but that game was such a big part of my child hood. I connected so much with that Peter to the point of him feeling like someone real. Taking that away feels like losing family almost idk why.
Not even the goofiness of the face it's literally out of place. It looks newer compared to the rest. Look at that scene with him and mj. He looks textured differently then her
It may sound weird. But that's the truth. That's what they get for ruining the way Peter Parker looked in the game. It's like a Bootleg Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield. They've made a bunch of mods for the game. I really hope they make a full 100% remake of the original to replace that crappy one they made. I'm just so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the new one. My friend actually likes the new one better and I started questioning everything about that man.
It feels like the internet went radio silent awhile ago about this but it never stopped bothering me. Even though I could absolutely buy remastered, I won't. It was an unesisary change and as you said it makes him feel like a stranger. So ima keep playing the PS4 version, 30fps and all. I won't support this. Thanks for being willing to mention this even when everyone else forgot.
It may be unnecessary for the users, but not for the ones actually creating the game, making their work not unnecessarily hard should also be a priority
@@julioforessi1336 This is true. I don't want them to use something if it's that hard to use. Unfortunately not using it has led to this robot. If they're not going to use it we shouldn't have gotten something of lesser quality. Plus like, I'm not even sure I buy the excuse anyways. They work for Sony and have made other excuses for changes in the past that I wouldn't really believe. For example not putting the Integrated suit on the PS4 version. I truly believe that that was just Sony who asked them to cut support and move on and they had to think up an excuse (which didn't really make since) for why it wouldn't come. I also believe here Sony asked them to just make him look like Tom Holland.
I didn't even play the first version, but even I got weird out by the face, it always feel like a random NPC of new york, he is no expressive at all, and the desing feels so different from every other character, is so weird to see the very expresssive face of Doc Ock and while Peter is just looking with some very neutral face every time.
The real one thing i hate about the game is the no fall damage and the physics of the swinging, its not bad but i wish it was more realistic, like when you swing too close to the ground you cant touch it, instead the game bumps you up a bit so you dont, i dont like that.
@@anubisshadowreaper8808 they wouldnt need to make the ground break, at most the minium they have to do is make you lose health based on what height you fell from
@@tomasovichrosic6567 wdym? Spiderman 2 is the classic spiderman game and even then it doesn't awkwardly "help" the player when they swing too close to the ground, it either stops the swinging or spidey runs while still holding the web motion, which gives a more realistic/manual swinging control.
I just finished the main story, and i did not encounter a single major or even mid tier glitch or bug the entire game. Also no framerate issues. Maybe i just got lucky?
I have crashing bugs rt reflections look like water with upscaling on random black blobs in cutscenes high controller sensitivity in the puzzles and low GPU usage and low CPU usage causing stutters and random texture loading delays rtx 3070 5800x 1440p rt on high and crowd traffic on low weather medium and rt distance 4. Runs flawless inside of building and such but when I'm in outside it's shitty
@@mycelium1456 To be fair... I'm running an EVGA FTW edition 3080Ti.... So i'm definitely not the average audience for performance issues.. BUT THE CONTROLLER SENSITIVITY IN PUZZLES DROVE ME INSANE.
the new face isn't that bad, to put it better at least we got the opportunity to play the original with the face we'll see from now on, and at least it wasn't changed after 2 or more games, its the best way they could've pulled it off
Please help me anyone. When i shake camera then a blurry effect i can see on graphic edges.when i don't shake mouse and still standing then graphic edges and corners looks amazing but when i shake camera then looks occurred. I tried every settings like 16X graphic fiilter texture quality high, make details high . Also use TAA,SAA Upscale everything in my 1650 super but still a blurry effect exists. I recorded gameplay looks really bad 😭
Are u not able to play on wired controller cuz it jus lags like hell when I plug my Xbox controller into my pc when I try playing and I’m not tryin to buy a whole controller jus For this game
Spider-Man is 24 in this game with the classic face he looks weathered worn out like he's been burning the candle 🕯️ at both ends for 8 year's and has seen some an been through some shit, making him look more mid to late 20s, the new face looks like he 19 with the whole world in front of him, with no worries at all, I'm used to the face an I do like it, but it is outa place are my thoughts on it.
I understand where you coming from but i don't mind it very much yes in some scenes that look like a robot my only problem is the hair. Why is hair so smooth when he takes up the mask
Anyone having issues where sometimes enemies become's cubes with a mask or spiderman cause this happened to me, later on I completed spiderman and at the end suddenly the maps tend to have low graphics in some areas which makes the player phase through buildings or underground and its been annoying no matter what
@@agenttexas1225 happened to me too. I was playing at 3440x1440 and suddenly the map lost its shit. I was swinging around as a tiny cube and then fell through the floor of the map.
@@agenttexas1225 the HUD is janky on ultrawide lmao. The vocalizer for people's voices on phone calls don't even line up with the frame. It urks me a lot.
My problem with this game is the glaring issues concerning Nvidia GPUs. I'm running a 1650ti with a backup intel GPU for extra memory along with a core i5 10th gen. I should be able to play this game on medium settings no problem, but no, it freezes every 5 minutes and is incredibly choppy.
I agree that the PS4 Peter looked a lot better, but Mary Jane and Black Cat's faces for any of the versions look so weird/like they're made out of clay/pudding or something. That's not the case for Sable or Aunt May for example, but it feels like the MJ/BC faces just do not look "right" to me.
I have really struggled to play the PS5 remaster. The new face is just terrible. I am wanting to skip every cut scene that has peter in it. I hope that Insomniac have secretly put Bubniack back in for the 2nd game.
More I think of it more I doubt that it's because of facial bones they did this stupid thing. I mean we are at the age where we create so many games which has fictional characters all with different body & facial structure and some bones just made them go so mad they just reboot the parker lol! I am not buying it at all. 1) Why they hired this guy in first place only to later realise that his bones structure is not correct 2) Is bones structure really matter... I mean the bones were the reason why we didn't get 60fps in ps4 ?? 3) They could've replace peter parker with anyone and they decide to go with Tom Holland look alike instead of going for someone who can be a fitting replacement.... yeah sure totally not trying to capitalize on mcu version.
i'd be willing to bet that either the old guy did something stupid and got fired or they wanted peter to look more like tom holland to keep the brand consistent
I suspect that Bobniak was terminated since he could've been asking for more money considering how well the game sold. They say his 3d model wasn't accurate enough but thats bullshit since modern technology can let Benedict Cumberbatch be a mocap actor for a damn DRAGON. They replaced Bobniak with a UK actor, and UK actors tend to be way cheaper. That and they also wanted to make him look like Tom Holland after all that happened. I don't have much evidence to back any of this up though.
It can be a disappointing masterpiece, my problem is how can RDR2 be longer than this game by like 5-6x although Spider-man has barely any motion capture in it?
Good story, good visuals, good gameplay but enemy AI's are dumber then my ass and I have played in hard settings if I am not mistaken. Especially sneak stuff in game seriously needs to improve. Why no body talks about that.
Why is that?. There's literally no reason for them to change it other than to make their own work just slightly easier, I mean, in all honesty I can definitely buy that using the face of the actual human model will allow them to more easily program the next games
So this whole video is just about shitting on peter's face?! Then just changed the title of the video to "Spider-Man Remastered "New" Face Catastrophe [In-Depth]" His face isn't that bad tbh imo and he looks more like a peter parker stereotype, His face wasn't bad before it's just his face now really doesn't matter that much to me, I will never hear the end of this drama about peter's face man. But tbf i don't really get emotional during dramatic cutscenes so i guess if you do, You have a major point. all i am saying is that i think this video should have a different title.

watched 3 of your videos review. Felt like reading twitter review thread. Mostly nitpicking something really irrelevant like Personal Opinion and it goes too long. While personal opinion in review could be good but your videos is more about criticism and going to deep with opinion seriously scream Twittard, while the actual game related is short like ads
@@RobertEdwinHouse9 Compared to any Arkham game? It's been awhile since I played asylum or city (haven't played knight at all) but even so I expect a lot of mechanics like stealth, combat and web swinging to be a good leap forward in SM2 but we'll have to see when they release gameplay.

i didnt paid any attention to face animation since i refunded this game because how awful cookie cutter experience it was. its a same garbage that i just got over with playing arkham knight and prototype1. spiderman got the same vantage point swinging. spiderman does not do upside down crawl on roofs, because most staged designed got no roofs at all. everything is plastered on the map. combo counter does not elreset when get hit so no sense of a challenge in a fight. i found new respect for arkham knight game after playing 2 hours of this awful spiderman game.
Jeez, it's pretty obvious, they wanted an actor that resembled Tom Holland a bit more for the Remastered version. 4:05 I like the new face, the problem is during some cut scenes, they use different lighting, a good example is Aunt Mays death. By the way, They used Ben Jordan as a base for Peter's Remastered face model. i.redd.it/tjrgtw44lbq51.jpg The final end result in the game looks like a combination of Ben Jordan's and Tom Holland's face. I understand your gripe though, they've should have just included the old Peter Parker face ((John Bubniak) as an extra option in the Remastered version. Maybe some talented PC modder can figure something out in the near future to get old Pete back.
