I saw the Ramones in 77 at the Paramount in Seattle. I had the album and knew the songs, but all I could hear was noise at the concert. There was fruit being thrown at the band constantly and they did not do an encore. The drummed was injured dodging fruit. My room mate was in a back up band when the Ramones played Bremerton. A girl named Anne [aka the Cheyenne band] went to the Ramones motel room and got her T shirt signed. DON'T PUNK OUT. Anne was not shy.
Just blows my fucking mind that In the 70s you think of nothing but disco and some rock and roll and outa no where a group decides to break free and create a new style of fast pace rock that sounded so new and crazy at the time and went on to be the most legendary genre of music of all time! 💯🤘🏼
When I bought their debut album at 14 years old it changed my life! If I remember correctly it was 18 songs in 36 minutes and I must have listened to it 1836 times!
When it comes to being "punk" everyone thinks that you have to cause trouble, break shit, spike and color your hair or "spread anarchy" but the ramones seem like they never really did anyone of that. They have a cool, calm, and collective manner. I like to call them "class punks." They go about their way and don't acknowledge anybody and to me, that is more punk than "spreading anarchy."
I saw AC/DC twice in 2009. Just about the same show both times, sat on different ends of the stage. 19 songs, took 2 and a half hours. For that same amount of time, you could watch 2 Ramones concerts. Hell, the full concert video on RU-vid is like 26 minutes lol. Amazing live band. Too bad I couldn't see them.
The Ramones--making the world tolerable every day for 2 minutes at a time. One of my all time fave bands since I first heard them back in the mid 70s. Thanks so much for uploading this clip, nice to be able to see it when I want to and share it when I need to. :)
I love how the whole time Johnny and Dee Dee and freaking out and Joey starts jumping around, and the whole time Tommy just keeps a steady beat. This is real punk man.The
He recorded a solo album in the Netherlands in the early 90s. My band practised in that studio back then. We met him a couple of times, he was so spaced out smoking blunts reading comics playing SNES.. Great memories!
1967PONTIACGTO the live album in my opinion is a toss up between ‘Some girls’ by the stones, or peter Frampton, ‘Frampton comes alive’. That last one is a bit cliched but it’s just so damn good, especially with weed.
