Spot the engineer with that ironing board! Also, an early 60's vw beetle, cold, noisy & 0 to 60 in 3 weeks!! Love them to bits. Had 4 over the years from 77 back to a 67.
I have several dream cars, but I really lust after an Aston Martin, that sound.. probably a DB9 or new it would be DB11, maybe a convertible. I also love the Pagani Huayra roadster, so sexy and like a Swiss watch inside.
Marc, seeing that GoPro rigging setup just confirms the once an engineer, always an engineer mentality that is felt in all of your videos. Thanks so much. By the way, bought your book bit haven't read it yet. Look forward to doing so soon.
Not long till testing starts, looking forward to seeing if the cars have changed....thanks for the links man...the whole world is lookin at the land of plenty, hoping everyone's ok...hope you n yours are all safe.....
Actually the Fittipaldis drove together in one race for Lotus! It happened in the non-championship GP of Argentina of 1971. Emerson drove the 72C, Wilson the old 49C, and Reine Wisell drove the other 72C.
Hi from Bermuda, My Dad worked for BP in Aberdeen, what is the name of the Hotel you are at, great informative channel BTW. Been to a few races, SIN, Abu, Monaco and the old French GP
My dream car has always been a ford escort rs Cosworth as i first saw when a kid admittedly a long time ago the rs blue shining the stand out whale tail arches i could talk all day and was in awe of the beauty to my eyes and have been ever since just perfect in my opinion
As always great video. My dream car would be a 930. As a boy I was taken for a ride in a guards red 930. Amazing experience that will live with me forever.
My dream cars are both Italian, firstly Ferrari 308 Gts (Magnum PI moustache and shirt included) and a recent one, the Alfa Romeo 4C. Two cars I could spend all day driving and then just looking at... also they have to be both red of course.
Marc..... absolutely great videos! Hooked!! Great show on Discovery! Great engineering regarding the overhead camera shot!! Love it! Great on screen persona and you really do know what you are talking about! Do you think we should have 2 manufacturers back in F1 to promote further development in tyre technology? Love your passion!
@@F1Elvis for the casual F1 fan agreed! I loved the development wars in the Michelin vs Bridgestone days ! The costs for the tyre manufacture or the F1 teams? I assume they would pass it on to the F1 teams either way lol!! What I worry about is that F1 is the pinnacle of technology and development and that makes me love the sport! Absolutely love it! What I hope will never ever happen in F1 is that it will become a too watered down and become to standardised and cost capped and turn into a slightly quicker F2!! If the cost caps and standardisation goes too much further we have that danger!! If you believe some of the F1 media the 2021 cars may be only a tiny bit quicker than the F2 cars? Thoughts?!
Hi Marc, I was going to suggest the Rodriguez brothers. Pedro and Riccardo. But their 'careers' however tragically short, were a year apart. My dream car, above all overs would be the Porsche 956. In some sort of white and blue denoting the cigarette branding of the time. Others would be the Ford RS200, Lancia Delta S4, Peugeot 908 HDi or the Porsche 930. Cheers Marc. btw you were lucky to visit Aberdeen and it not be raining :p
dream car no problem a Lola T703B obviously a replica will do ! Rolling chassis no problem ....wheeler dealers can finish it up for me.with a ali big block Chevy :o)))
Watched an episode of wheeler dealers: dream car at the weekend, really liked it. Liked what you did with the bike seat with the Barbour jacket. Good show mate, will catch up with the rest . Hope you get another series .
My dream car, since I first became a racing fan in the 1960's has been the Shelby Daytona Coupe. what a beautiful car! It's chief designer, Peter Brock, now owns a company that is continuing to the produce the Daytona Coupe, with modern improvements in suspension and material, etc., and comforts never added to the original 6 racing coupes to make them legal and (nearly ) practical for public roads, so the dream is, in theory, not an impossible one, except for the limitations of my pauper's income. I love your videos.
F1 brothers Pedro and Ricardo Rodriguez Never raced at the same time though Mexico’s newly redeveloped Grand Prix circuit is named after Los Hermanos Rodriguez
Great choice on the early 911, gorgeous cars, and definitly high on my dreamcar list too. My number 1 dreamcar would be a Lancia Delta Integrale EVO 1 in mint condition.
Hi Marc Apologies if I missed it in a previous vid, I need to catch up since the Christmas break. What’s your drone? How do you find it, and finding places in the south to use it?
loved the new Wheeler Dealers, properly made it for me having you on there Elvis! Dream car is a Porsche 962 Derek Bell Signature Edition 2007 and or more realistically a GTR R32
Did the Rodriguez Brothers both drive for Ferrari in F1? I know they both drive for Porsche in endurance racing. Dream Car? S1 Lotus Esprit - my 007 fantasy!!! Keep up the good work and thanks for the chat in the BA lounge in Munich after you filmed the mini launch!
Great rational well thought out thinking - as usual! What a wise head on young(ish) shoulders. You also seem to be scholar of the Heath Robinson school - love the ironing board. 10 out of 10 for dedication to the (ridiculous) cause of F1.
Great insights and explanations to the questions. Make us miss F1 a little less. as for a dream car??? That would be the Citroën 2CV. Can't remember any car before this one in our family growing up. Really loved it as a kid.
YES! Great taste Marc. The 1967 Porsche 911 S to the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 are the greatest 911 ever made. Well to me any 911 would be epic but if your asking about dream cars, those fit the bill. I would definitely get one of those or a Jaguar E-Type series I or II.
I'm a bit late to the party ... love the ironing board camera mount. It is this attitude that makes a road dog great: use what you have to get the result you want or need. Being creative saves the day, but you knew that already. Not different for a (formerly travelling) sound guy like me. Show is at eight, no matter what. Just make it work. Great video with superb content. Really appreciate all you put into making it possible. Even shifting sleep to airplane time probably. As for my dream car: 68 Mustang convertible.
a bit side ways choice compared to most people here but my dream care is an MG Magnette the old curvy one not the square one. Would love to just cruise in one, so beautiful.
12:13 Excellent thoughts about opening up the development of new materials. Something like this would change the perception of f1 in the general public positively. Who do we need to push to make it happen ;) Dream car: A Corvette convertible from the 70s
Hi Marc, just watched another brilliant video from you and currently reading your book. Just read about kimis blue hands.do you look back and laugh about it now? . It was Very amusing and informative to read as is the whole book. My dream car is the Audi RS6. I dream that you and Mike could turn my Skoda superb estate into a RS6, in the meantime I'm working hard to buy one myself.
Hi Elvis! One thing I've always wondered since the end of refueling and the sometimes 'boring' one-stop strategy races. Why dont they make it mandatory to use all three tyre compounds during the race? Guaranteed two-stops and less tyre management can only be a good thing, no? New to your channel and loving the insights. Keep up the good work! #AskElvis
Crofty got 3 laps in a Renault a few years ago, you should have a word, hopefully you'll get a drive on a media day at some point in the future 🤞🤞🤞 In the meantime, I obviously know it's not even close to F1 but the single seater driving experience at Silverstone is BRILLIANT
Dream car? Hmm Thats hard. I love my st185 celica Gt4/Alltrac. I love mk3 supras. I mean a ferrari testorrosa maybe. 1920s Bugatti type 37? I mean its tough a dream car you may still have to live with. I think just unlimited budget for my Celica or a supra would be it. I mean an R34 skyline would be great too : ). Basically if had millions id be Jay Leno. I mean Delta integralli , stratos, any 80s rally car basically, the list of oddball range of "dream" cars for me is endless.
Totally agree on the materials. Makes you think why on earth are we spending millions to develop little winglets and flaps that not only no one really knows what they are doing but also don't have lots of potential in the real world. There is so much fertile ground for development in things like materials, powertrain technologies, dynamics control. That's how F1 can continue being relevant and not losing out to FE in my opinion, by attacking those areas the transport sector is really suffering from.
@@F1Elvis Respect for making such good points. It's important that they are brought up, especially by people who are close to the sport and not just fans. Great content by the way 👌
hi Elvis ...your dream car would be a 911...would it be a 1973 Carrera RS by any chance....???? it may not be my 1st but my 2nd... My dream car would be Renault 5 Maxi Turbo
Ron Knox I’m about an inch too tall to drive an S2000 comfortably but they’re great little cars. I have to settle for the Miata or Z3 because of my frame lol
Dream Car part 2. I would LOVE a new Frontline LE50 (MGB-GT) or, have you seen the video of Chris Harris walking around the warehouse of car ready for auction?! that's some good cars there!
I sometimes wonder, why isn't plank under the car made from rubber, so it could help slowing down the car when it "loses" its suspension and wheels after an accident, reducing its speed before it reaches barrier
It's there to control minimum dynamic ride heights and for that reason is only allowed to wear a tiny amount over a race (hence the prescribed density).
I'm aware of its purpose, but it could have secondary purpose... slow down the car after the accident. If it was sticky rubber like F1 tires, teams would also try not to scrape it, because it would slow down the car
Hey Marc! Since F1 teams keep many of their cars and parts from previous years, why has no one ever tried or managed to organise a 'Youngtimer F1" race, with cars from the 00s or 90s? It could even be balanced so that the cars are more equal and have to run less hard. Hopefully some rich gentleman drivers will make this happen!
It does show a good knack for creative, out of the box thinking. Making due with what you have, even if that may at first seem to be too little to work with. I guess a must-have treat for F1!
You would love the 911 by Singer and Williams. It’s gorgeous! 😍 also, have you ever thought about building your own Caterham/Car for the summer? You obviously have the ability to do it...
Yes, love the Singer Porsche's, I was at Williams last week having a look, they're amazing. Definitely want to build a 7, just need to build my garage first!
Dream car - the one and only Honda NSX-R 😍 Or Lancia Delta Intergale EVO2, in green 😍 Hard choice, can't get my head around of which could be The One 😂
Have you ever heard of fuel magnets? Well, my advice is to not even bother with them if you're not using biofuels; magnetic fields have no effect on non-polar molecules like petroleum, but biofuels like ethanol are actually highly polar molecules.
I feel like it would be hard to see Arthur Leclerc in a Ferrari with Charles since Mick is also in the Ferrari programme. Surely Mick would get priority over Arthur with the history his family has with the team? (plus Mick is higher up the development ladder being in F2)
Oh man another great video and what ingenuity ( ironing board - but can you iron ?) and commitment ( sleep deprivation- glad your young )- I also love the 911 closest I got was a couple of VW BUGS - hope you get one someday PLUS a ride in a F-1 car ! Who do I need to talk to ? Cheers - get some 😴
Hi Marc. Your answer to Oscar's question raised another in my head: Is there a maximum amount of ballast weight that the teams can put on an individual car? Thank you. Love the channel and your dogs! And ... Nice McGyvering with the ironing board! Dream car: Shuppan Porsche 962CR- We're dreaming, right?
I have a bunch of dreamcars but not the funds to fix em up. I’ll list them in order I would renovate them. Range Rover mk1 (the one with the massive doorhandles) Porsche 944 -85b (busted head, but I have a new one, needs a new interior though) Golf GTi mk1 (The one in best nick, perfect daily in the summer, just rough enough) Subaru XT turbo (for sale, just don’t love it like the others)
Dream car? Im happy with my Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Technine at the moment. In a sentence, I'm sort of driving mine at the moment. As its been the F1 off season, Ive totally reconnected with my love of music, and been to 3 awesome gigs in that time, all rock/metal acts in Halestorm, Alter Bridge and Slipknot. Im going to ask this question, does the off season in F1, maybe not the teams, but the circus that follows F1 give you time to draw breath and reconnect with other loves? Loud cars and loud music. Now as for a Dream Guitar, a PRS Vela in Winterburst with a pair of PRS 59/09s and a 5 way switch in it and a PRS Vibrato system on it. Something that is versatile, but can do the utter filth when its needed. That would be mine at the moment. That would probably come in a a cool £7,500.
Another question. What's the simulator like. Does it move to simulate G forces and suspension thumps and bumps and have high def screens all around, or, is it a glorified Codemasters F1 2019 like mine?
Nothing like Codemasters game! It's an F1 chassis mounted on hydraulic rams, in a room of panoramic screens. You can even hook your crash helmet up to hydraulics to simulate G forces on the neck.
Dream Car: Ferrari 355 GTS - RHD, manual, Giallo Fly Yellow. Ideally an earlier car with the non-airbag wheel and the carbon fibre seats, but both these I'd sacrifice if the other conditions were met. I'm not a huge Ferrari fan, but the 355 will always be perfection for me. Could have bought one a couple years back, then discovered my wife was expecting so went with a Lotus Evora 400 instead as it was a 2+2 and we can do short family outings in it now, but whenever I see a 355 I can't help but long for one.
@@S2GUnit more just an issue of lack of garage space and not wanting to get rid of any of my other cars to make room for one! I'm not sure I'd want to wait too many years before scratching the itch, won't be able to enjoy them forever...
Oh gosh I'd really have to fight between a ford gt 40 mk iv or a shelby daytona. in a dream world I could drive both then decide...and also i'd have a lexus lfa for when i want to speed around in air conditioning. and newey's aston martin looks astonishing.... :D
Talking of driver salaries, I thought it was interesting that Dr Marco said that because they paid a huge amount to Max they couldn't afford another big salary (Vettel). I thought they pretty much had a blank cheque with RB + sponsors 🤷♂️ Obviously in the short term it means Albon isn't getting a pay rise lol
@@F1Elvis I think Vettel going back to RB was over the second Max signed to 2023 (frying pan & fire comes to mind lol) but it was weird how Dr Marco worded it. Vettel's so boxed in now, there's nowhere to go and having a make or break season isn't exactly going to relieve the pressure on him...& his driving
SHELL BAHAMAS IS IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING TWO OF THE BIGGEST POWER PLANTS IN THE COUNTRY POSSIBLY BY THE TIME I POST THIS AND YES SHELL IS BECOMING VERY MUCH SO ENERGY SUPPLIERS .
