In which Resident Evil goes on-rails with The Umbrella Chronicles & The Darkside Chronicles.
In late 2007 and 2009, Resident Evil would take a couple of cracks in the on-rails space with Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles. They're both a lot of fun if you enjoy these kinds of games. Darkside Chronicles is one of the better examples of a sequel making improvements (with one major exception).

The Resident Evil series had flirted with the idea in the past with the light gun focus, but not a full-fledged on-rails shooter. The motion controls of the Nintendo Wii left some room to explore this style of game.
Other franchises in the horror realm would make use of it - such as Dead Space. I do have some fondness for on-rail shooters - House of the Dead 2 is one of them.
There would be 2 on-rail shooters for Resident Evil. Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles - so let's take a gander, shall we?
This review/analysis/retrospective/critique on Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles will look at how the games are played, their differences, their strengths and drawbacks, and more.
