Today we are looking at the old Ricoh GXR. It's a modular SENSOR system with tons of different options to choose from. I have the infrared, standard 10 megapixel zoom kit, and the renown Leica M-mount.
I think it's a great street shooter today, with or without the M-mount.
The color production is beautiful while still pretty close to real life, and the files are easy to work with in post.
I plan on going over this little guy again and perhaps compare it to other street cameras I've used thus far. Thank you for watching! Sub, follow the instas below, etc. lol

Such a sweet camera. I've looked at the infrared module for a new infrared pocket camera but haven't pulled the trigger. Cool you got the M mount as well. Anyway, awesome video.

Thanks for the view and comment! It's quite a novelty to have such a versatile pocket sized camera, especially one that could shoot IR. I believe I bought my infrared mod from etsy for 40 bucks too!

I really like your style. Love that you're sharing the gospel of pentax, you're K3 video totally convinced me to stop chasing a KP deal. I found a K3 orig recently for $250. Can't wait to share my own thoughts and snaps. Cheers!

Nice review and photos. A rare and also an exotic camera these days. It looks smaller especially in hand than I previously believed. I was going to get one of these ages ago, I should.

If you're in the market, I just listed mine on ebay lol! It was a hard choice to put it up for sale, but I have to fund my future projects (like paying the heating bill haha)

@@MattsNotes so the one I got came with the S10 (not the truck lol). I'm watching for a cheap-er Leica M mount but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for me at the moment.

One of the cameras I just sold but it was great while I had it. Really enjoyed the black and white I got out of the A12 mount.

I now use a GXR because my M8 died ( fixed now bty issue ) but you left out loads of features digital zoom on the m module is handy , silent shooting with electronic shutter , custom profile modes that can tweak in camera it's my new travel cam after my m8 died in thailand

Great points! I wish I still had the GXR as it was a fantastic street camera. I would've loved to test out the A16 mount. I'm sorry to hear about your M8 dying in Thailand! I love the country and plan to travel back very soon!

Really interesting... A friend shared images from a Panasonic Lumix some years ago and I was impressed. I picked up a simple 6mp point and shoot ZS1 with a Leica lens for less than $30. Amazing "shirt pocket" results, but I wanted a viewfinder, longer optical zoom, 4k video and a flip screen, so now I use a Panasonic DC-ZS70 ($250) which also has a Leica lens. 'Not for the faint hearted with such deep complex control of so many features, but incredible value for money to be found at all prices in the used Lumix range however?

I have a Leica M8, M9, and the GXR Each are great cameras and they all have a little bit of a different feel. But I agree the GXR is very similar to a Leica. The M8 seems a little bit warmer than the other two cameras. The B&W photos on the Ricoh are very similar to the M9. The main difference is the crop factor on the cameras. I like the RXR when I need to get a little bit more reach with the lenses.

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your comment! The IR mount came from Etsy at the time. I haven't seen many floating around lately but I'm sure they're around if one scrounges the internet lol
