Love the Juno 60. Very "old" "brown" sound similar to the Polysix. The 106 in my opinion is overrated.

I’m actually surprised Roland decided to add a new synth with System 8 support. Just wish that a) there was a discount on Cloud for people like you and me who already own the S-8 and the TR-8S, and b) finding plug outs were easier and “pushing” the plug out to the hardware was easier. Like you, I’ve had my System 8 for a few months - great little machine. Grab some wood panels for the sides :) RSP-8W is the model for the wooden sides - Sweetwater have em :)

GREAT video. I was super curious bout the PlugOut process. So do you actually need to load this in a DAW, or is there some way to just send out a binary to the system 8? The DAW process feels pretty daunting IMO. But man, you get 4 synths in one hardware.. pretty damn incredible!!

Thanks for these videos, they're very helpful! I have a few questions: 1. Aside from the 3 preloaded plugout synths inside the S8, you need to rent/buy the additional ones correct? 2. If the memory in your System-8 is cleared and you do not own any of the plugout/plugins, are you screwed and need to now rent/buy the JP8, J106, and JX3P plugins to load them? 3. If you rent Roland Cloud for just 1 month, load your selection into your S8 and then cancel your membership, do you now keep those plugout synths that are loaded in indefinitely? Thanks again, and it's crazy how badly convoluted and confusing Roland's marketing and strategies are. Cheers!
@Nu-trix
@Nu-trix Год назад
For 1-2 and 3 my answer is yes. But for 2, I think when you do a factory reset you would get the original 3 plugouts back.
@csongorfarkas3574

Hi, so did anyone went through with the factory reset who could confirm that the 3 plugouts are back? Or should I store these plugouts to SD card before I replace them with some others? Also is there a recommended size for the SD? Thanks a lot

Can you tell me why the second envelope is blacked out sometimes, and sometimes not? It's driving me crazy.
@Nu-trix

It's supposed to represent the actual knobs available on the synth that the Plugout is simulating. The System-8 has more options (and front panel knobs) than most of the Plugout synth.

Hey thanks for the video, something I'm still confused about is the cloud subscription. If I own a system 8 and want to install a plugout do I need to purchase a monthly or lifetime subscription? Also say I purchase a monthly one and then click the plugout button to load it on, will my synth then need to be connect by USB to an internet connection for the future? This is so confusing, I hope the answer is simple and you understand. The video was great but I don't get it :(

@@Nu-trix Sorry to pester you, but this is so unclear on their site. Does everything in the cloud works as plug-out? The Anthology collection is marketed as "sampled", I had the impression that the System 8 is a real synth not a rompler. Or can it do both? And for the Roland Cloud, it seems to get the interesting stuff you need the Ultimate subscription, that is kind off steep if you aren't a professional. But I guess, O.K this is marketed towards professionals anyway.

"any way to load Ju06 Boutique patches?" Basically you can open a JU_06PATCHXX.PRM patch file from JU-06 in a text editor then manually transfer the values from there onto either SYSTEM-8 or JUNO-106 plug-in. Just bear in mind that all the parameters of JU-06 are positive figures most of which may have 0-255 values whereas some parameters of plug-in/plug-out can be from -127 to 127 where 0=-127 and 127=255 . Also JUNO-106 plug-in/plug-out has got more envelope/modulation parameters in the patch structure than the Boutique has.

You can use this as a plug out for your verselab? Or do you want to buy a Roland jd-xi for that. Or just buy any mini midi or better the Roland Xm?
@Nu-trix
@Nu-trix 3 года назад
The plugouts can run as a VST in a DAW or inside the System-8. Some can also run in the System-1 and System 1m. The ACB technology is watch drives the boutique series (except the Se-02) as well as the TR-8 and TR-8s. But if you use it in a DAW, then any MIDI keyboard can control the VST version.

When transferred, the plugout is running inside the system-8 and do not require any computer at that point. From the start the plugout idea was to bring the same sounds from the studio to the stage.
