I think sometimes when you're in this type of conundrum you have to take a step back and think if the value of both pieces was the same, which one do you choose because the money sometimes can cloud a decision. It's nice to make money but it's even better owning something you really love.
In my eyes the Rolex Submariner Bluesy is the most beautiful Rolex of all. As it is my all time favorite watch I just bought it from my local authorized Rolex dealer. I seldom take it off my wrist and this super gorgeous Bluesy makes me feel just great wearing it. It is the Rolex Submariner Blue Model M126613lB-0002 with the 2-tone 18K gold and Oystersteel bracelet.
That's awesome that Mark sent you his watch to review it, though he does his own review of that watch. That speaks volumes on trust and wanting to see a fellow watch enthusiast being able to give a review. Keep in mind Mark owns a "Hulk" as well. Good job.
Phird. I have both of those watches in my collection. They're the same watch yet completely different, for different situations. Plenty of room for both in the collection if you can swing it. I'm pretty excited about the new gold bluesy, so it's on my list. It's tough to answer your question because it just depends on what you love. If you love them equally, then I would go with the Hulk because you can wear it in more situations and you can always buy a yellow gold bluesy...but they're not making the Hulk anymore. I'm guessing you would toss and turn all night with regret if you sold your Hulk. I would keep it.
That solid gold blusey is a heavy hitter in the watch game. If the day comes that you can trade out of a SS piece for a solid gold piece it’s a no brainer IMO.
Hold onto that Hulk. It’s an iconic Rolex piece that will only rise in value over time. It’s special and magical when you see that sunburst dial in natural daylight. I got one at retail in 2018 and my Dealer told me he only received 1 Hulk in stock for every 6 or 7 black Subs that Rolex sent him. In 10 years, it could easily be a $30K-$40K piece. Even if Rolex brings back a new, improved Hulk down the road, Collectors will always prefer the original.
Sell the Hulk. Get your profit. You've enjoyed Hulk for a while. It's time to continue your journey with a better value for money timepiece(s). I think the "Hulk hype" will not last forever.
A used Bluesy two tone is a good alternative - selling under retail - more or less same price as the black one. However, as new the price difference between those two is USD 5000.
I had a Hulk and sold it a few years ago. I made money on it back then and was happy about it but I sure wish I kept it to cash in on it now! If I still had it and I had the opportunity to do a strait trade for a gold sub, I would do it without hesitation.
Stunning piece. That blue is amazing. I could be happy with a two tone bluesy though. All gold just says too much in my opinion. But it is only my opinion. The Hulk holds it's own in any sub battle. That green dial is special. The Cermit doesn't hold a candle to it.
If you love them and wear them you keep them if you need money you sell . But one thing I wouldn’t do is look at them as investments yes they go up but there are other places for that IMO. I personally would sell at those crazy prices if you have something in mind that would outshine them💁♂️Good luck bruce
FYI ... the Bluesy in this video is the older model and it is the 40mm model watch. The new one is a 41mm model. How could I tell? The old model has yellow/gold fonts on its dial face. The new one has all white fonts on its dial face.
I have a Hulk and tt bluesy which I think is a great combo as I get to enjoy the beautiful sunburst dial in both cours, but the solid gold is smokin’. I have also thought about swapping the Hulk for a solid gold bluesy but have come to the realization that I cannot be without my Hulk. Such an amazing watch. I agree with you that the price will only escalate in time, so hold on for now and follow your heart. If we’re wrong, well, then you will always have the Hulk and that’s a pretty good thing.
Thank you again for a spectacular video! Congrats Marc that is a spectacular watch. As a resident of NYC and in normal times a business traveler, I don’t know that I could ever wear this out and about, I would fear getting mugged! Wear it with pleasure and safety!
FMD Bruce, I’d be pissed if someone put my brand new gold watch on a timber box like that. With the clasp touching the case back. That gold is soft and I bet my left ball you put scratches on that thing. Marc is precious about the scratches on this sub, even to a point of putting protectmyrolex on the polished links.
Awesome video, Bruce, thank you. Can't tell you what to do, everyone is different. However! Selling Hulk, getting grail VC Overseas and maybe a little left towards a plain black Sub-Date would be my option. Well, you have the black GMTII, right? Ugh! Never mind.
I mean, the price can go either way in the future even if you predict that it may go nearly up to 30k in few years. If you cash out now, you wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. If you enjoy the bluesy as much as the Hulk or more, I don't see why not. Gold would mean it will have lower minimum value.
They're all stunners. You did them justice in the sunlight. A tough decision. I'd likely sell now, get the profit now. You never know, next year Rolex could bring back the Hulk. And those 30K values would tank. You'll be in the black regardless, but I'd sell while it's hot, and move that into a stable timepiece, for me it would be trinity, no Rolex. I don't think the old Kermits went up, with the Cermit release. Great video Bruce.
The kermit went up long, long ago. It hasn’t dipped in value since the new one came out, so unless the Rolex hype settles, I doubt the Hulk’s value would drop much solely due to a reintro.
It’s a year later and now that Hulk is basically worth $30k. I think for me it would be time to cash out and order a gold Sub or green dial gold Daytona if your AD can snatch one for you
when I was a kid growing up in texas in the 80's all the people that "made it" all wore pimped rolexs in bitone or full gold, The dials were often decorated with diamonds on the hour markers. I often wonder what happened to all these watches as I don't see them on the used market much. maybe they were fakes, LOL does rolex even do diamond decorated dials. I wonder what the story was on all those decorated dials were.
I have both of them and love it. I have a black sub too, and some friend think im crazy having the same design (ie Sub) in 3 different Color’s… i just love the Rolex Sub, iconic, good looking, versatile, durable … can go on forever hahah. Nice video!!
Can you sell the Hulk and still get new watches from the AD that you use? We get banned where I live if the AD sniff that we have sold a rolex profesional model
I wouldn't swap, the Hulk is a much more wearable watch, not a "safe Queen". I for one would be much more nervous for many reasons to wear the gold watch on a daily bases.
Can’t see the Hulk getting to $30k in five years as you suggest. Prices will come down to earth when ceramic Kermits become more available. Just like what happened to Batman after Batgirl was introduced. Anyone who spends over $20,000 on a Hulk should have their head checked. That’s ceramic Daytona money.
Compound the gains from the Hulk then go to the Bluesy for value. The Gold collection that Rolex has is currently undervalued, the steel on the other hand, just hype.
Today its the Hulk tomorrow something else. I say sell the Hulk while its still hot...buy the gold watch. Cant go wrong with gold. The hulk is a green dial watch. Next year rolex will come out with a purple dial called the prince and the hulk will be forgotten...but that gold beauty will shine on.
I think you’d regret selling the hulk, certainly at the moment. What about your plans to get a Royal Oak? Maybe you could keep the hulk and sell some other watches in order to procure an AP or VC in the next year or two? That saying, the Bluesy is stunning but it lacks the versatility of an a stainless steel sports watch.
Tough choice, all i can say is that SS Sports series are way over priced and whether it will burst is everyone's guess. Precious metal is still precious metal though.
sell hulk and get the half gold bluesy half gold bluesy looks younger and less dangerous wearing in different situation and you will have quite a bit of cash remains
Hulk prices will drop. If you ever sell one now is the time and thats IF YOU NEED THE CASH..I flipped my Batgirl because A i never liked it and B I am pushing that cash into a new Cermit but I did not need the money I just wasnt a fan
The Hulk is fantastic, but the price is only due to speculation. One day the bubble will burst. Then the price will go back to normal. I don't see people willing to pay 30'000$ in ten years for a Hulk. Another model will be more popular at that time or the hype of horology will be gone. The Hulk is not a rare model at all. This is not a Rolex Daytona Paul Newman or a Submariner Comex.
Must admit the new bluesy would be tempting you would also be able to pocket a good amount of cash . The solid gold personally I would never contemplate. It’s way to blingy for my liking , I also don’t like the image it projects , it’s also too heavy ,and a scratch magnet . When I handled this a few years ago I felt it was way over the top and kind of garish and cheap looking .A watch for people who are desperate to try and impress others To me two tone provides more than enough bling .. Add to this most people will think it’s fake and you have really bad taste. But If you can live with the downsides why not ? It’s about the wearer if they love it that’s what matters ..
It’s gorgeous but I struggle with it logically. I can understand a gold dress watch, maybe even a president. But a sub is a dive tool, and gold dive tools don’t make much sense.
B M yes, understood. That’s why I would never get it. That premium is too high in my opinion. Id rather get a used Lange, Patek or independent. I could never justify to myself to pay that money for basically a gold bracelet and watch case. Unrelated to that: also wouldn’t wanna walk around in a fully yellow gold watch :)
For the last 2 weeks EVERYONE who has the Hulk is spamming videos left and right comparing stuff to THEIR Hulk, just talking how amazing it is now that it's gone form the stores, bla bla bla.. It's getting a bit old and boring, but it seems the Hulk fanboys are the best way to get views. Goldberg's channel is even worse, like a broken tape recorder that got stuck on repeat. I rather enjoyed this channel up to a recently, time to unsub and look for actual original content elsewhere.
