Thanks to, or in spite of, Al's history tutelage (at the bowling alley), Curtis (Larenz Tate) scores an A on a test, but not without having something up his sleeve.
I miss when old people were like this. Della Reese is dressed how my grandma used to dress back then lol and their relationship is how my other grandparents used to interact. I was a kid when this came on initially,I really miss the black society I grew up on.
I was just watching some these episodes this morning then I just heard that Della Reese died today that makes me sad may she and Redd Foxx rest in peace.
"I feel like a new man!" "Me too, but I think I'm gone stay with you..." Hilarious!! I'm steals that for sure! I love Redd and Della!! And Larenze Tate! Who knew he was on this show!?
I love this show. They don't make them like this anymore. Its sad that this generation that's coming has nothing but garbage to watch on television. Shows like these had a positive message and image as well. The Royal family was one of those shows you didn't mind your children watching. Now this stuff that comes on today makes me run. Thank God I grew up watching shows like this.
C. Buck Hyres it was, but that’s not why the he went busted. He never paid his taxes. But he was on the rebound when he was doing this show and then he died on the set.
@Vegas Mitchell so judgemental and ignorant. Did you ever think that maybe, coming from poverty, that he hated seeing people he cared about in poverty? And gambling is just as much as a disease as any other addiction? But most importantly, who needs your sympathy? You say "I never felt sorry" as if anyone asked you to.
Redd Foxx- Born john elroy sanford. born december 9 1922- died october 12 1991 at the age of 68. great comedian and actor HE was so broke when he died that eddie murphy paid for his funeral
rip red fox this my first time seeing this show i loved his show sanford and son hes verry funny.he died of an heart attack doing this show. thank you della reese for a wonderful show
Wow. . .just WOW I'm so grateful we have something as incredible as RU-vid there's so much I've never discovered I learn something new everyday I have NEVER seen or even heard of this show in my life even tho I was only a 1 year old baby when this was made this is such an incredible piece of black entertainment history Eddie Murphy created this show with a practically all-star cast R.I.P. Redd Foxx and Della Reese.. I never expected to see a little Naya Rivera and I never realized she was also Little Richie's friend on Family Matters she's literally been acting all her life and now she's in the tabloids for her messy fight with her husband lol smh and Larenz Tate who went on to become a very well respected Veteran of actors and still looks exactly the same..this was a gem that I just happened to randomly stumble upon..thanks for uploading and keeping incredible things like this going for the next generations to see 💯✊🙌👑🔥
after Redd Foxx's passing they brought in Jackee' Harry, first to play Della Reese's sister Ruth, then the show went on hiatus to re-work the series premise...when the show returned, instead of being Della Reese's sister, she became the Royal's oldest daughter, named Coco...but after Redd's death the show didn't match the ratings it did when Foxx was on the show
Sadly, Redd Foxx had a heart attack on the set of this show. The cast was slow to react because they thought he was playing like the Fred Sanford character did. He was revived but died later that night at the hospital. I remember when this happened. He was only 68 years old.
TEVIN WILLIAMS maybe so but he was a old man and lived amazing life so I bet he was happy cause shit you can’t take none of those things with you after you die... and you really never own nothing and most of the time when you rich your damn family fight over everything even if you have a will.. so shit in his case nobody gets nothing cause the RIS took everything
who left this milk in the refrigerator with just a SWALLA IN THE CONTAINAH! HA! that line she also said in Harlem Nights!!! DELLA! This show didnt last long but had great potential and a real good ensemble cast. The bad news? Redd Foxx had a heart attack ON the set of this show and died there.
***** Too bad he isn't recognized for it. His Star should really be bigger than it is. I have one of his concerts on DVD and with the First joke had us all laughing.
Mother Father, even the greats like Redd Foxx were treated like sheeple. Such a shame the producers displayed no remorse during the time of his death. I've always said corporate America will step over your dead body to turn a dollar. Foxx, you ol' heathen I miss you.
So sad #ReddFoxx) was Making, his come back with this show OH yes it was a hit but sadly as we all know he passed away on the set while filming rest in peace my brother Redd Foxx and my beautiful sister Della Reese 2 Class Actors Most of All let us no forget" entertainers, as well as... Legends tonight it just turned a new year 20/20 and look you see that us your fans have not forgotten about the both of you when it's time for me to leave this world your names will still carry on May God bless the both of you ( 👼)
This was a hilarious show with dela reese and red fox you can't go rong it was sad to hear that red fox passed especially on the set but he may be gone but will never be forgotten rest in peace my brother and i hope ms dela reese is still with us i haven't heard other wise cause she is a damn good actress and real funny too.............
This show could've had a chance had Redd Foxx not passed on. It was a VERY lame idea to add Jackee' to the show after he died. Della said Redd's character wasnt even mentioned in a death or phased out. He was treated like a recurring character. There one day gone the next. What a way 2 treat a comedy legend.
soulman2000 His death was mentioned. They had a funeral episode. Don Bexley, Slappy White and Reynaldo Rey were in it. Doesn't change the fact that the Producer killed him, though.
This show, just like "8 Simple Rules" and "Chico and the Man" was on its way to being a long-running classic, but when it's main star suddenly passed away, rather than simply end the show, they chose to continue. The obvious conclusion was that the magic just wasn't there anymore. The big hole left by the dearly departed star could never be filled by a replacement.
Just watched Lorenz Tate on the Breakfast Club and he mentioned this show. I remember watching and loving for this show and hoping for Redd Foxx to fix his finances, then he died. Another show I liked was 'Me and the Boys' with Steve Harvey and Madge Sinclair - then Madge died. SAD
