The positive thing here is that Hoovie just saved somebody from actually being terribly scammed. You know, if Hoovie didn't buy it, someone else would have.
CHECK YOUR AUCTIONS ARBITRATION POLICY. They disclosed it was running rough, but having the wrong engine is a material fact not disclosed. It’s the equivalent of finding frame damage that wasn’t mentioned, you can probably return it.
Yeah he has a point if you paid for it online you will be covered if you got a PSI up to 30 days. The seller has to disclose non-OEM engine if they Green Lit it. If you were inlane buyer then even in if it was sold red light you can still ARB since it was badged as a M series and it dosen't have a M series engine. Claming they Mis Rep'd the car. "See NAAA Arbitration Policy Appendix Effective April 3 2023" You had 7 days (i know its a little late now).
@@sicsrt5876 Bro that seller is Gone...... and I highly doubt he "green" lit it knowing the condition / engine swap... also NAAA Arbitration only works if the auction house is a member of NAAA... you're really reaching at straws here... you and I both know that car was sold "AS IS. WHERE IS. NO GUARANTEES"
@@WrongThink_ right, but the AS IS clause still meant that you’re buying an M series car AS IS. If I bought an As Is Ferrari 308 and when it got delivered I found out it was a Pontiac Fiero with a body kit I can still arbitrate it because I bought a Ferrari not a Fiero
Don’t think the original motor was “blown”, rather pulled out and put in a more desirable platform, then a junkyard motor sourced that would physically be similar to an M motor so that this car could be sold as a more valuable M model.
@@perryelyod4870 That may be so, but Hoovie usually has his tongue firmly in his cheek when talking about his 'hoopties'. This time though he seems genuinely pissed at having been scammed so egregiously.
I reckon this gives new meaning to the check engine light....perhaps the light was telling you to check the engine and make sure it was the correct one... Glad you are feeling better.
I'm so glad to see that you kept the old format! The self-filmed style has so much more authenticity and conversational quality than the production change of the last video.
Their inspections been bs if you have connections you get whatever you want and if you’re a small lot or wholesaler you get fked on a clean car let alone a rough one. But what’re we gonna do about it? We don’t have another option.
Oh yea. We got a v6 mustang for a client a while back, 3.9 was the rating. Scratches and small dents everywhere, not original transmission, top leaked, interior bits were broken. Brought it back almost immediately. Realistically it was a 2.7 at best.
This is why I am so grateful to live vicariously through Tyler's buys. I love cars, but hate car maintenance. So happy to drive an Infiniti coupe. Always starts and runs. Never needs anything but consumables. Good sports / GT car. AWD works perfectly.
Hi Hoovie, just wanted to let you know about a video Sam Crac published the other day about his Aston Martin, saying there's a gearbox release switch under the rear seat on the driver side; apparently engineers put it there for exactly the reason like this where power or other failures occur ! Hope it helps to release your beautiful paper weight from being stuck in 1st gear!
I'm so sorry things are going to shit for you right now. Your channel has been a great diversion for me over the years as I went through some tough times as well. Please keep up the great work on some very entertaining content. Keep your head up, and don't let the bastards get you down!!!
So sorry you're having to deal with this, Hoovie. Hang in there, brother! In addition to whatever else might be going on, we're all pulling for you. (I had a chance to meet you at the first Houston Barrett Jackson and you were so gracious and kind to me and father. I won't forget that.)
BMW tech here again, I can’t say I’ve ever seen an N63 swapped X6 M before, that’s definitely a first! Also I may be biased but the newer BMWs, especially anything B58 powered, is honestly decently reliable. BMWs bread and butter is and has always been the straight 6, anything else isn’t nearly as reliable nor trustworthy. The N63TU (Same engine as yours but updated) is okayish in terms of reliability but it’s not good in the scope of most cars. Realistically most BMWs aren’t too unreliable as long as they’re maintained. The thing is that almost all of the BMWs you buy end up being maintained very poorly and end up being rat boxes because of it.
That was exactly my thoughts, all bmws he buys are highly neglected then the blame ends up to BMW itself. I personally have an older 06 x3 with the 3.0 engine and is currently at 190k still original engine and transmission, only issue currently is the bump from the transfer case needing rebuild but I have it unplugged for the time being until I order a new one to have this old one as spare. Also had a 00 e46 and put 215k on it, only scrapped it because it developed the Sub-Frame cracking issue, but engine and transmission were great too.
@@amrfz6114 it’s alright in terms of reliability, about the same as the N63TU. No valve seal issues like the older cars but there’s still some common issues like the turbo cooler lines, some plastics, etc.
That BendPak storage lift is so cool and costs 34K not including installation. It seems like almost all automotive RU-vidrs get complimentary lifts provided to them which must be nice.
If a car is not as described by the auction, you normally can claim your money back if you deal with a reputable auction. Hence the reason why the auction doesn't release the money to seller right away.
You are right but normally you only have a few days to inspect it and get your money back. Big issue if you’re going to get a car shipped to you from an auction and haven’t seen it yet..
@@freakymrq True, but the court would rule on reasonable expectation, and the car was labelled X6M, with X6M, badges and X6M engine cover the least of what I could see and understand. If you’re purchasing from an auction, you’re paying based on what you see and the description. And if the engine swap wasn’t mentioned, it’s pretty reasonable that any person would be expecting to be purchasing a M car. And if Hoovie could prove the seller knew about the engine swap, the case would be pretty open and shut. And even after that the seller could be brought up on potential criminal charges for fraud.
I’m really sorry for all going on in your life Tyler, some things get tough for all of us in a moment in time and the only thing we can control is how we manage them. Keep your head up Tyler
What’s going on with Tyler? Did I miss something? I’m not sure why he’s moving the home collection to the hangar. Any idea? I would be greatly appreciative if you had some answers. Thanks man.
@@deezholehis wife left him because he spent all his money on hoop ties and she found out he had several illegitimate children with different members of the WNBA and now he got a vasectomy in hopes to win her back but she can’t stand the site of him nor his hoppties any more…
And especially because he specifically said while it was under construction that it added no value to the house to anyone but himself. He wouldn't do that if he was expecting to wind-down operations and / or leave in only a few years.
Hoovie says this car is hideous but I kinda like the style of this car, I have no idea how practical or performance oriented this thing is but it’s not a bad looking vehicle IMO
Don't believe so, as to my knowledge some salvage auctions (believe this was a normal auction) won't even allow you in the car, but I've never bought a car from auction, so hopefully someone else can shed some light on this.
The VIN wouldn't tell you anything in this case since it was originally an M car but the engine was swapped out. I wonder if they swapped out the engine just to part it out separately since the rest of the car was junk.
On the Aston, there should be an orange release tab under the driver side back seat. Lift the seat and find it, and pull the attached cord to disengaged the transmission from the wheels and put the car in neutral. Samcrac just covered this in a recent video, I believe.
Hi thanks for the content. I have an e70 x5m 2012 since 35,000 kms for the last 5 years. I simply fix anything that starts to go wrong, before it's a major expensive issue. Its @ 100,000 kms now and it's tuned to 700bhp with M10 turbos, cat less downpipes and seriously it's no issue. It's all about the maintenance. If you buy a highly tuned car of any brand, it costs lots to run them. If you spend a small amount minimum maintenance, they go wrong in a big way. Any performance high end car! It's not just BMWs. Ferrari brakes are terrible for example $6,000 dollars every 2 years. Electrical faults left right and center, Lamborghini transmissions fail all of the time, clutches on Aston martins transmissions, McLaren's have loads of recalls failed engines. I've had the privilege to drive them all and it's not isolated to BMW.
As a shop that works on these often, and has done so for ten years, we tune and upgrade them as well, this video is completely inaccurate and a bad source of information, I’ll happily back up my claims with documents. Video should have never been uploaded.
Probably was about to get repo'd and he did a quick engine swap with his buddy before it was picked up. This was most likely just slapped together enough to get it to move. I bet his buddy has a modded X6 "M sport" with a 70k mile S63 Bright side is that I am sure there is someone out there that would love this car and spec. So you should be able to sell it pretty quick with the exposure of this channel, even with full disclosure of issues.
VASECTOMY NIGHTMARE! The taxi I booked to take me to hospital for my vasectomy didn’t turn up so my mum had to take me! Instead of just dropping me off she insisted on taking me in and waiting in the waiting room! She might as well have said to the receptionist “Philip’s been a very naughty boy, can you fix him”🙄 To top things off my old English teacher was in there too😬
im bafffled and i say this with love , how a man so long into cars with so much money and time invested in them, is still such an esay mark for scammers..
whenever I contemplate buying an older sports car, I watch Hoovie's Garage and the longing disappears immediately. My checkbook sighs in relief. The clouds part and I hop in my Honda and drive away.
I am really sad about everything that is happening to you. I hope that you will get better. For the X6 M50i, I am sure that if you put some love and care someone will enjoy it. It is still a twin turbo V8. Have a great day.
Hang in there Hoovie. The rough road will smoothen out soon😊 As for the BMW, you can part it out, or do another Chevy (Corvette) engine swap like you did to your Porsche years ago. Have fun with it. Mod the hell out of it🤪
You want to try a motorcycle? I had an RS1200 with a leaking crankshaft seal. That is behind the clutch on a lenghtwise four inline. For the clutch to be removed you need to build intermediate support for the engine. Then you start to dismantle the bike from the rear. Rear wheel, brake, shaft drive, subframe and gearbox. Make sure to get the absolute right clutch throwout bearing because the wrong one will hurt the new clutch you put in because you won’t be doing this again.
The week is not complete without new Hoovie's Garage content. As enjoyable as ever. Glad to hear all's well with the wedding vegetables. As always, more videos please!
Genius who can’t research 😢 It’s very common to “replace” in this manner. The blocks are the exact same. The turbos, coolers, and engine management make the power. This video is an embarrassment to American bmw mechanics.
I'd still want to see how it runs once the misfire is cleared. If somehow the M ECU works with the non M engine, that would be interesting. Either way, spend the $350 to fix those rear shocks. Sheesh.
There is a shifter release pull under the driverside back seat of the Aston. SAMCRAC just had a video recently and had to get his off a trailer that way. Hope this helps.
The divorce forces not only the "life changing surgery" and fleet selloff but also low quality sponsors for online betting that may or may not be federally illegal.
Why would a divorce force a vasectomy? That’s mind boggling to me. Wouldn’t you want to stay intact in case you find the right one and want to have a family with them?
It'd be great if it were that easy. It would have taken an inordinate amount of diligence for the auction company to find it, even the car ninja only found out after looking at the block stamp with the car in the air. What then? Go after the bank who probably put it up who would have had no idea or the owner that can just play dumb? That rabbit hole would just waste a lot of time and money trying to chase it down when there's too much plausible deniability and finally finding the culprit, the lawsuit would likely be like bleeding a turnip.
@Caleb That's why call them out because two reasons. One you know they have done this before and will do it again. Second it's completely unethical and sends a bad name across the industry to any auction house of reputable companies.
The most expensive vehicle acquisition method, leasing,. is frequently selected with the driver dumping the car at end of lease, avoiding out of pocket repair expenses, so crap continues to roll off the assembly line.
My wife fell in love with a 2009 Mini Cooper Cabrio. I wasn’t there to stop her. For those of you who still don’t know: it’s made by BMW. Yep, you can all guess the rest …
Hoovie, you are perfecting the "lovable loser" persona to an art form:-) Just when I was thinking, how does this BMW situation get any worse? And then you start violently bouncing with that horrible suspension on your sensitive jewels (been there), and I absolutely laughed my ass off. We're with you Hoovie, through thick and thin!
@@nattodatto Agreed. That's why I put quotes around it. I don't think he's a loser either. But, it is a character he plays to some degree, and I love it! He never takes himself too seriously.
@Hoovie there might be a neutral safety switch or something behind the driver seat (under the rear driver side seat if there is a back seat) that can be accessed. It definitely is a thing on newer astons but not sure when they implement that. Samcracs recent Aston video showed how he got to it. Worth a look!!
Apparently this is just how you do it at Auction these days. Want to do an engine swap? Buy your donor car, swap all the good parts between your car and donor, sell it at copart as an M, AMG, Rubicon, GT... but actually it's all your old base model parts.
I know what's wrong with it... You have a stock m6 computer but not a m6 engine. Meaning it's just a bad tune, and it's expecting parts (like turbo) that are missing.
This isn’t a scam. BMW replaces these engines all the time. N63 and s63 are the same block, this mechanic is a goofball and the RU-vid star did zero research.
Last year I spent $10k attempting to resuscitate my deeply broken 2014 BMW X3. I recently sold it for….less than that. This vehicle had been fastidiously dealer maintained its entire life and never driven hard and yet it managed to blow its engine at 82k miles. Service manager at the stealership was, like, “yeah, that generally happens to these between 80 and 100k miles,” so blasé like that was a completely normal thing to say about a modern vehicle with under 100k miles! 🤬 It also needed an a/c compressor replacement which turned into a 6 month maintenance quagmire with said dealership awaiting parts. I will NEVER own another BMW. For an allegedly “luxury” brand, I had a horrific ownership experience and treatment from the dealer. My new car is a Mercedes GLA, just got off the big boat from Germany and will be in my garage in a few weeks. ✨
Sorry for your loss of a S series engine tyler... now i am a bmw fanboy and the V8 you have in there is still way better than the average European bmw 😅 I'd say try saving it and maybe seeing if you can bump up the power on it. It be great content
Get well soon Tyler. Thanks for keeping us entertained. Wishing u a good car that u can make money out of for the future. At least skip a lemon for once :D
Someone absolutely bought this, pulled the engine out of it, threw it into something else or flipped it, dropped a Junkyard N63 in it and auctioned it.
My 91 E34 M5 served me well for 17 years before I finally sold it, the only major trouble it gave me was when the brake master cylinder was losing pressure and caused a dead clutch pedal that required multiple pumps to work again for a bit. Would I buy a BMW post E39/E46 era? NOPE.
Seems like a great time to call Westin about swapping something more interesting in... Might just want to swap out the rest of the car too while he's at it.
Hoovie, I’m sorry you’re going through a shitty time in your life. I’m genuinely asking why you won’t have your garage anymore soon. So many people like to try and assume and gossip and try to create stories/scenarios. Obviously it’s your personal business and when you’re ready to talk about it if you even choose to that’s up to you. We love your content and hope you’re able to keep it up!! Hoping for a better speedy recovery and better things to happen to you! I got shot last week and we’ve had a shitty last month so i understand life sucks but like you said it’s still good!
@@dlproductions9574 that doesn’t mean anything, just cause he isn’t wearing his ring doesn’t mean anything in particular. He could have damaged it or lost it. Maybe it was too loose on his finger and hasn’t had the chance to fix that and have it resized. You have no clue. Which is why i mentioned that people keep creating and assuming theses stories/scenarios. For example my wife’s wedding ring was damaged and saved her from smashing her finger and she hasn’t gotten it fixed or replaced yet cause we don’t have the time to get it fixed or the funds to go get a new one at this time. And it’s been almost if not a little more than a year, who knows it doesn’t matter cause we’re married, don’t need a ring to know that
@@dlproductions9574 still it doesn’t matter, like i said my wife’s ring has needed to be fixed for a year and we just don’t have the time. Don’t assume shit cause you don’t know. Until he says it if he chooses to disclose that info you can’t just decide his person issues and stories.
This is another example of the scammers that are out there. This sounds a lot like what the goonzquad went through with their 67 Camaro. It was advertised as having a high performance engine. And when the car showed up, there was a junk yard engine out of a pickup truck quickly thrown into it. I think the owner of the X6 took the good M-power engine out of this car, to put into a more desirable car. Somewhere there's another BMW driving around with the engine from this X6.
this is why you listen to your previous errors in buying cars like this, and fact that you dont learn from mistake and keep thinking itll be diffrent this time.... ye no
Oddly @hooviesgarage. The more I see content on this car...the more I admire it. Even this jacked up, scammed version. I feel like I would still drive that car with honor. Kind of like Doug Demuro, I admire it's quirks. Personally, i would continue to keep this car on the road because it is so interesting with its backstory. Anyway, great content. Sending love and healing vibes from VA.
Hoovie, I've been watching this channel for years. Just hang in there, man - it's a rough ride, but the entertaining part waits once you leave the pain and misery behind. I totally mean BMWs.
i guess those exotics makes for good content but also makes me appreciate my 30+ year old buick roadmaster with sbc engine. thing starts and runs like a champ every single time!
Why is every single person I know that buys a post 2005 second hand BMW gets scammed like this, usually cars that got into a severe accident and roughly put back together, wrong engine "but it's better" with "low miles", or an engine that's about to die (and has been sold 20 times with that condition until the owner realizes the cost of replacing it), etc... Unless you're an expert with modern BMWs and know exactly what you're getting, don't buy one.
watched back other videos and read the comments. hoovie your a champ on behalf of all men .fuck the people that do bad onto others . i cant wait for the new adventures, homes, rentals and so on .1.5 million people stand behind ya mate
I was about to reply the same. Strip it, part it out and minimize the loss. As a whole car Tyler will lose more on it in comparison of parting it out ..
As others stated the M motor now residing in another Bimmer is the reason you got ripped. It also accounts for the mickey mouse backyard mechanic install. If they did that poorly rebuilding this the other one will soon be at the junkyard.
