What a dreadful case. I started to cry when you went through their names at the end. Thank you for naming each of them - they weren't invisible. They had lives. They mattered.
Thank you for saying all of their names. It at least reminds people they aren't just another dead body. That was a person with a name, a personality, likes, dislikes, dreams.. I hope they're all at peace.
As an African, I'm really impressed by the fact that you show the authentic Africa and cover crimes committed there too. Thank you Adrian and love your shirts
Interesting legal system they have there. Kudos to the woman that had the composure to lock herself in the bathroom and the manager that had the initiative to follow-up on the unusual sounds, allowing her to survive. Thanks for bringing some dignity to the deceased victims; they deserved better in life.
I kinda liked how they sat that jerk in a chair outside & made him confess to his crimes. A bonus was that they had a speaker system/microphones, etc. The policeman or whoever was doing the questioning, that was pretty cool, too. He was so matter-of-fact, almost like a game-show host or something. Bizarre, but totally boss! I thought that was a lovely perk. I wish they'd do that w/criminals in the US.
@victoriaanddave.. yep, look how that's turned out for us! I hardly recognise my city anymore, the amount of areas that are majority immigrants, one areas all Pakistani another Somalia another kurds anther easter European the list goes on and on.. just how did our leaders think this would turn out, don't take a genius u know
Wow..I'm married to a Nigerian man and he loved this. He tells me there's too much crime in nigeria and he's very grateful that you covered this. Thanks so much
Adrien comes to Nigeria, I must applaud the quality of the research you've done as touching the issues in Port Harcourt and the country as a whole. well done. It's was a really heartbreaking outcome for the victims And yes, we have a lot of work to do concerning our security and legal systems. we also need to do better in the removal of stigma associated with the CSWs. Our society is already very harsh to these women economically and in more ways than one. You did a good job humanising Nigeria. Good video, man
Honestly, you probably provided more insight for those of us who were actually in the country when this whole thing happened. Great work as usual Adrian.
Exactly my thought, imagine our own journalists and TV stations never properly broadcasted this case. What a shame, may those women and all the other people whose lives were taken rest in perfect peace 🙏🏾
Thank you for humanizing these victims. Sex work should never mean you deserve to die. Everyone thinks sex work is terrible but if there wasn't a demand, there would be no need for a supply. It's a job like any other. I find it very telling that the buyer is never as looked down on as the supplier. 🤬
The real problem is sometimes they don't have family and no choice, full of trauma, no oportunity( much more in poor countries) it is not like people think that most of time they are happy to do this type of work. In reality is a very sad life.
They are still humans with thoughts, hopes and dreams, I believe you should judged by all your actions not just one thing, I think people that use sex workers are no better worse even.
Not Adrian covering a case from Nigeria! Been following your channel for a minute. Thanks for speaking about the victims with respect. a tiny correction Adrian - in your captions at the 17:12 mark, he said 5.30 (referring to the time) not 5 dates. Can you please also cover the case of Ini Umoren, a young nigerian girl that was lured to her death last year under pretext of a job interview. The case was solved by Twitter who directed the police on what to do. At the site where her body was eventually found, there were other shallow graves there as well, which pointed to multiple murders.
Thank you for covering a story from Nigeria. Not many true crime channels ( outside Nigeria) cover Nigerian crime stories. I’ve been watching your videos for quite sometime & your research & compassion is outstanding. Keep up the good work. Btw I rarely leave comments but for this I just had to.
Really sad that the families of the victims did not show up in court or claim the bodies of their relatives. Really sad. Thank you Adrian for covering this story.
because the victims were sex workers. Highly doubt they want the world to know that their loved ones were selling their bodies on the daily, especially the level of shame in that kind of society
@june same! Funny I had completely forgotten about this. But I remember clamping down hard on my night life and urging my friends to do the same. Started drinking indoors and haven't stopped lol. I had no idea they were so many victims and in such a short space of time! Truly horrific.
Thank you so much for not stereotyping these women, and for showing them the respect they deserved. If there was no demand from men, there would be no industry. It goes both ways but its a lot tougher on the girl's that do this work. Very, very sad story
Totally agree! Regardless of their chosen job, they are still human beings! A lot of the time women “choose” sex work there is multiple economical and societal problems that contribute to that decision!
Yet again, I need to thank you for showing SUCH RESPECT to the victims. 💖 Sex workers are absolutely people and deserve justice and respect 💖 Thank you for always showing such grace and dignity to these poor people 💖 this is why you are my fave true crime youtuber 💖
As always another fantastic story Adrian, you pronounce Port Harcourt so well. Thank you for humanizing Nigeria, but you are far too kind. Our Judaical system is broken, our police are incompetent and corrupt. There’s no way they were carrying out any investigations or carrying out searches without “mobilization”. This man was caught by sheer luck. I won’t be surprised if a rich uncle bails him out of prison soon. Thank you for immortalizing those poor women that died for nothing.
probably luck. but 15 lives??, I doubt he is getting away with that fam. especially when the public eye is on it. they will use him as an example. nigeria's law system is bad but not that bad, except you haven't had anyone working in law in Nigeria or run into serious trouble with the law. armed robbery, murder, or pedophiles are something Nigerian force takes seriously. I haven't heard anyone blatantly killing multiple people in Nigeria and getting away with it. I know someone involved in a robbery and no amount of money could help him. else he will suffer jungle justice. except justice in the port harcourt is that bad. in the north immediate sentencing to death over here
I know all your fans must tell you this over and over but thank you Adrian for always being so respectful to the victims. Sex workers or not they were still someone's daughter, sister, mother...and they had a life to live before this piece of 💩decided to play executioner. Thank you for this. Keep up the excellent recounting. We appreciate you
The trial held in public really was fitting, no longer can he hurt anyone else. This was a suitable ending. My condolences to the ones that fell victim to his crimes...
as a fellow Nigerian am so happy you shone a bit of light on this nation. There are still a lot of problems that need to be fixed , our society's ideology are a bit biased , and i feel that we still struggle to accept everyone for their difference , despite being so welcoming . 🌍
As a Nigerian, I am so grateful for the way you told the story. I appreciate all the effort you put into this story. You also captured the beauty of Nigeria.
@@charlesmichealoniya6634 @Danni was asking if everything is ok with Adrian, I'm guessing due to technical problems he was having uploading this video or something to do with his recent house move!! As for China buying Nigeria... maybe you should look a bit more closely at China's poverty figures, child labour, human trafficking and Government corruption! All you'd be doing is ripping a Band-Aid off a punctured rubber dingy while 100 miles away from land during a storm and replacing it with another Band-Aid!
The women pictured were absolutely beautiful..thank you for honoring them..the woman who went into the bathroom is amazing in the way she handled such a horrific situation..she saved future lives I am not mad at the public humiliation the authorities gave David..he no doubt deserved it I love that you give awareness to crimes around the globe..thank you Adrian 💜
my whole family is from here. thank you so much for covering this story and for pronouncing port harcourt correctly 😭 you continue to be my favorite channel on youtube ❤
I think they just rounded them up and interrogated them thoroughly, which is still wild. Cos you can't really jail innocent people without any evidence of crime in Nigeria even as wild as the authorities can be. They're brutal though.
Thank goodness for that hotelier?!!… This monster could have gone on for years!!… So much sadness for those women taken from their lives too soon… nobody deserves to be treated in this manner… no matter their profession.. I would be willing to bet that NONE of them were there through choice! Thanks Adrian… great video as always ❤
I cried when you named the names of these victims. They so much deserve this. Heartbreaking that many of them were not even burried by their own family.
I disagree. I think it's messed up. I'm certainly not defending the killer; he's a POS. However, I got some White Bear (from Black Mirror) vibes from that footage; being that said episode is a satire of mass spectatorship and vengeance.
@@Right_Said_Brett Uhm.. There's a reason for the public humiliation. Nigeria has seen an awful lot of jungle justice over the years. So many alleged criminals have been killed my mobs and most of them were burnt alive. The reason? The people don't believe they can get justice from the police. In the past, criminals have found their way back to the streets without any jail time. Hence, the people resorted to getting justice themselves. So to help restore the trust of the people in the police, they parade suspects and grant public interviews before they're charged to court.
@@judeodumamwen9160 I understand that. Better policing is required. Burning people alive, in an act of mob justice, without the process of due trial, is messed up. I can guarantee you that several dozen hundred innocent people have been burned to death via such acts of vigilantism.
This just disappeared and reappeared? Glad you're back Adrian 🙂 I'd love to try out your sponsor too but not available to me in UK, how did you manage to join up? 😬
Yeah, RU-vid likes to keep us content creators on our toes! I had to reupload the video with a couple small changes. And thank you! I wish Scentbird could deliver to the UK, I live in London but often know someone in the states who is able to pick my package up and bring it back to the UK for me.
@@CoffeehouseCrime kinda sucks tho, as a British guy living in the UK, promoting a product that's not available in the UK? A lot of your audience is from the UK... Just seems a bit weird to me lol, maybe that's just me tho
@@Chelle8847 YT is constantly demonitizing channels like this one. That means that the only way to continue making content along these lines is through sponsorships. A large part of Adrian's subscribers are American, as well. While it's unfortunate SB doesn't deliver to the UK, without them we probably wouldn't have Coffeehouse Crime as we know and love it.
This is incredible work.. I'm a Nigerian and I doubt if the media here ever covered this story and make people as aware as you just did.. Subscribed right away!
I love your incredibly respectful presentation. It’s amazing that David was able to talk women (who did not know him) to go to a hotel room, considering what was going on in the town. And amazing perseverance on the woman’s part to keep her cool, get to the bathroom, and scream).
First, big shout out/thank you to you for not only painting nigeria with the poverty brush and highlighting their culture and there is more than what is shown on tv… I love how you give backgrounds/details and educate us on the towns/ cities or country… it’s much appreciated 🎉❤ God have mercy on the lives lost and so glad the lady maintained calmness and sharp calculations in this situation . May God bless women to decide to get out of sex work
I agree about the sex workers. Maybe that's all they could do to make ends meet. Some want to better themselves so they can get out. Everyone has a story. And it bothers me that authorities don't try that hard to solve what happens to them. Like the woman was saying about wives, sisters, daughters, they are all of these to someone. Their just as important as anyone else
Excellent work , Adrian. So sad that nobody came to collect most of the victims. Still thankful their killer was caught. May all of these beautiful girls Rest In Peace.
I’m Nigerian and even I learnt new things from this. Beast of a man. On a side note maybe get a native speaker to do your transcripts. Everything you marked as unintelligible was perfectly clear to my Nigerian ears. Also many transcripts are flat out wrong😄
As an exotic dancer the way you talked about these women at the end literally made me cry…thank you for being an advocate❤️ been following for awhile but this solidified why.
I really appreciate how you talk about the victims. I've done my thesis and since then have never stopped studying serial killers, over a decade now. The last part actually made me cry because it made me realize, even though I sometimes write about the victims, I don't do it enough, probably because it hurts to much and want to see the cause first so I could maybe tell and prevent it. Thank you so much for giving them a voice.
omg that’s so sad that only one family member attended. whether that’s that they didn’t want to be involved, or no relationship, or maybe they just were no longer alive, that’s just absolutely devastating that these women were so easily forgotten. i’m glad they caught him because they deserved at least that.
Yay! A new video just when I’m trying to force myself to start cleaning, this will make it easier lol. Thanks for the frequent uploads, Adrian! Hope you and everyone else here are well and having a good week! 😊
Adrian u r simple the best. The emotions that u put when narrating these events is profound. The respect that you put,the effort to pronounce these difficult African names is out of this world. You are actually better than our media
The best part of Coffeehouse crime videos is the fact that the positives are always highlighted in the beginning, before anything else. I’m a Nigerian and I still learned some new information about the story from this video. Thanks for speaking up for those whose lives were untimely cut short.
As a fellow nigerian 🇳🇬, thank u @coffeehouse crime adrian for covering this story…. There’s more coverage from africa to be unearthed… thanks for your unbiased focus on all countries
I'm a Nigeria, base in port Harcourt 🥺I'm glad you covered this story and explained every details correctly. But mind you Mr, we are not leaving on top each other and your people are here making a living and in good health 😀 what happened in port Harcourt could happen to anybody at any place.
I love the way you showed respect to the victims. SWs are people too. They had hopes and dreams and didn't deserve to be murdered. Also thank you for teaching me a lot of new things about Nigeria. You have a way of sharing information that made me pay attention.
Dear Adrien, thank you for countless hours of exciting entertainment. No one in this genre gets the balance between paying respect to the victims and their families and telling the cases in a thrilling manner like you do. Mad respect.
Once again, great video as always, Adrien. Also, despite his name, this guy is anything but "gracious" For a future case, it would be great if you covered the story of Selena Quintanilla as I think her story is deserving of the Coffeehouse Crime treatment
Your and Mr. Black's shows are the most comprehensive and compelling true crime shows on RU-vid. You provide well researched story telling with minimum opinion noise and a strong deference for the victims and I say this as a lawyer. Well done!
Is it necessary to Always Disparage the police? You constantly are given digs. “Unsurprisingly the lead didn’t come from the police “. Like seriously, police rely on the public, not a bad thing!! Especially since it was because the Police had the hotels up their security, he was located!
Adrian, your summation of the victims of this crime at the end of the video was so touching. Of course, you are absolutely right. How can society be a just and respectful place for all when this attitude towards women continues? These ladies were trying to get by just like everyone else. It's so unfair. Thank you.
Living in port harcourt, I remember when it seemed every week, there was a new strangled victim in a hotel room. It's much different watching serial killer documentaries on RU-vid compared to having them happen in real time around you.
nah, its understandable. wo wants to be connected to a filthy sexworker? its nothing good, and in the end it was the reason these women got killed in the first place. sexwork is bad and always will be. you need jesus.
Stigma? So you're saying there shouldn't be a stigma against them at all? So explain why Nigeria has the highest per capita of babies born with HIV in the world. No shit there's going to be a stigma when there's a sexual transmitted disease crisis in that country. A country that women are twice more likely to have syphilis than men. Why don't you look at a broader picture and not based on your emotions.
@@tinateshale7447 I mean morality isn’t relative. It’s immoral to sell your body. That doesn’t mean that we should abandon people who do it, but stigma can be a good thing sometimes
So very nice to hear yet another coverage of an African case.... There's a developing story in SA of a man who is suspected to have killed 6 sex workers & is currently in police custody .... I hope you'll cover it the near future... Thanks Adrian👏
Don't be surprised that he confessed so quickly and complied with them so easily afterwards, police in West Africa have been known to have some very... effective interrogation methods
These countries are beyond words. Imagine arresting ordinary citizens for not preventing a crime they had know idea when, where, or why it happens. "Trust the Nigerian police", sure, I'll trust swimming next to a Great White shark in the middle of the ocean too.
This story has really touched me. The fact that no one claimed the bodies of these young women after they were brutally murdered is heartbreaking. I think everyone deserves a decent burial no matter what, no one is perfect.. May their souls rest in peace. I wonder if there was more to David's killing spree? Killing someone for N2000 is really disturbing.
I really appreciate the fact that you look at crime cases that happened worldwide. It's not only a great way to see how other countries deal with crime but also a good way to shine light on the victims of these crimes, especially in cases like these where family members don't show up to the morgue to say farewell to their loved ones because of the stigma surrounding a job they had or something of the sort.
When I went to see an old childhood home, I didn't remember anything but the smell. It's the weirdest but coolest thing what the brain can do. Thanks for your continued content Adrian! I haven't heard of this case before. it puts it into perspective when you see many countries have sick and diabolical individuals. Corruption seems to be the root of the cause of all issues here 🤔 eat the rich
Great narration! Though a Nigerian, I am better informed about these serial murders through this video than through the Nigerian print and electronic media. Weird though for a foreigner to give us a more concise account of these events. Thank you.
Thank you for treating these cases with such gentleness and compassion. It's really comforting to watch a true crime channel that cares about sex workers and talks about them like humans. RIP 💔
Adrian, I've been with you from Day 1. I'm so proud of you and how far you've come. The growth in presentation, confidence, diction and professionalism is an awesome thing to see. Keep up the great job!
Thank you Adrian for covering this crime in my country. It was a very dark period when he was on the prowl. It was scary time with death bodies surfacing every 3 to 5 day
