I'm eighty and this takes me back to when I was a teenager many moons ago Life flys by so quickly I would just like to say to all you young people out there enjoy your self it goes by so quickly
You Brits should be proud indeed. Try holding a concert in the States. Its a world of difference. This video is so refreshing. As I watch it and see everyone sitting comfortably and not shouting rather listening to the concert, where did us yanks go wrong?
I share the same opinion. Concert attendees in the States are disgusting and uncontrolled. If this difference was unknown, the British should be proud of their status.
I'm still listening to this on the 9th of February 2023 and this is still the best and I'm 65 years old and I've been listening to this since it was released
One and only “The Shadows” can play such a superb pure music. My all-time favourite instrumental band with great guitarists - Hank, Bruce, Jet and drummer Brian. Their music will always remain evergreen for years to come.
My dad used to play the original of this song way back in 1974. To this day this song brings tears to my eyes because it unfailingly brings back memories of my dad who loved music. I was once playing this piece in the car and my daughter- who was about 8 years old then - suddenly tells me that this song somehow reminds her of my dad. My daughter was about 3 years old when my dad passed away. The connection between this music, my dad and my daughter - who is 19 years old now - is quite baffling because the album was lost and it was never played at my dad's home. . Atlantis is one of her top favorites because she says it reminds her of her grandfather.
I always remembered going to high school listening to this tune. It brings back golden memories. The days when my parents we alive and we had no idea what the future had I store- we ere young.
I was about 5 or 6 when I first heard my father blasting this song out on his home stereo record player and home made large speakers. Same with me I'm reflecting on his life as he recently passed away Saturday 3rd of December 2022. He never believed in Jesus until later in his life. He always compared himself with others thinking he was a Good Guy. He finally accepted that he wasn't such a Good Guy agreeing that he had sinned big time like the Lord stated. I had a prayer one night for him and I saw him running in the white light of heaven with a surprised look on his face. As he couldn't walk at the time I knew that God was going to save him and two years later my father accepted his heavenly Father. He not only lost his ability to walk and feed himself but also to talk. He still understood however and my last words to him were, " I'll see you in heaven shortly and we will speak again soon there!" The beauty of the Lord and eternal life will not be missed by those who choose to humble themselves and accept that we need to accept his death in our place... Simply believe and eternal forever life is yours! 😃
This has always brought tears to my eyes. Reading your comment has brought tears to my eyes also. Nice to know there are kindred souls out there to which this masterpiece so emotes.
Atlantis is such a wonderful song, the best ever, in that it seems to float on air with an invitation that beckons. Everytime I listen to it, it seems I'm being transported back to that wonderful civilisation many speculated once existed somewhere in the Atlantic. Whether it was real or a fantasy I don't know. But it is the kind of stuff legends are made of. Hank's guitar with its rich but hypnotical melody backed by N. Paramor's strings has the magic and power to invoke me into wishing that Atlantis, indeed, did exist.
`Fabulous performance, The Shadows were famous before anyone heard of the beatles and many others but the success never went to their heads. They always look relaxed and seem to actually enjoy what they do.Beautiful music never fades.
Just discovered this what amazing piece of art. ATLANTIS exquisite in every sense of the word. Hanks guitar style just sings and he makes it look effortless. I CAN DEFINITELY listen to this Today, Tomorrow and FOREVER. ULTIMATELY ✔ superb quality 👌
Hi there we grew up with them in the U.K. they were the best group ever. Hank was unbelievable.Listening to them play brings back so many memories of our youth. This music will stay with us forever. Not like the crap music of today.
Bit of trivia for the younger fans. The Strat that Bruce is playing is the original Strat that Hank played, it's reputed to be the first Fender Strat in England and was brought back from the USA by Cliff Richard, who actually still owns it, though he has never asked for it back.
Yes, l agree..Hank (aka Brian Rankin) and Bruce (aka Cripps)started out as a duo, emulating the fabulous Everly Bros..they sang beautifully, Bruce on high harmony, Hank on melody..as well as wacky, witty jokes ("You may be wondering who this person is who keeps exchanging guitars with me? So do we.."..or, "Well, you have paid for them..."
Anyone remember "Mustang" on their first album? Bass line in the intro, then lead guitar joins in, in harmony..to me, the Shadows always evoke feeling in their mysic..and their sheer professionalism especially on stage places them in the upper echelon of performers..some journos criticised, carping..but the Shads' music and wacky humour provides mood-filled entertainment.
What a lot of brilliant players the shads are the best in the world and could never be upstaged by any other group of guitarists. Fact. Thanks for many years of brilliant classy music
questi musicisti li seguo dagli anni 60 e sono eccezionali con le loro chitarre Fender con dei pezzi musicali adeguati. Bravissimi anche con gli effetti sonori. Bravissimi da Roma.!!!
ONE of the most instrumentalists of all time. So many memories. My departure music when I pass. ATLANTIS LOST CITY , FELT LOST IN LIFE , DON'T WE ALL. 🙏🌈🙏🌈🙏
Adorooooo essa banda maravilhosa gostaria de ouvir sempre até a ultima turne deles maravilhosos esse gitarrista show de bola améi tudo de bom 🎼🎶🎵👏👏👏👏👏👏
You know all the great guitarists of the past 60 years have said that Hank Marvin was the guy they looked up to and who was their inspiration. I wonder who Hank looked up to and who gave him inspiration? He's good though isn't he 😃🎸👍!!
BEEN THE BEST INSTRUMENTAL GROUP FOR YEARS. STILL ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE. THE SHADS HAVE BEEN ( MY) FAVOURITES EVER SINCE THEY CAME ON THE SCENE AND I AM NOW 81 YRS YOUNG. THEIR MUSIC WILL LAST OUT EVERY OTHER GROUP. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks too you all shadows, my mum and all family listened to your music, in mauritius Island, thanks for all you've done for us, God bless you, and hope see you in the future of a concert in mauritius
What an awesome, timeless, incredible, eternal sound track. Thank you Hank, your wonderful musicians as well as Thomas Williams for this marvelous upload. As a youngster, their music led me to believe that they were possible time travelers. The Iconic, legendary Shadows.
Hank....meticulous , class act....his control of every nuance of the melodies is why he is one of the true greats.....his touch is sublime !, ..thank you Hank and the Shadows for your music... your influence is still right up there....so good.
Such great music still to this day. Could not understand why they were never honoured by the Queen, as Cliff Richard was, and he was not as good as The Shadows.
i have only recently, "discovered" the Shadows. I'm very glad that i did. I've been playing guitar for a long time and love the soothing sounds coming out of Hank's Stratocaster.
The best era ever, I grew up with the Shadows and The Tornadoes, the 60s so good to have experienced such beautiful years, sadly this generation is not so lucky. The world has gone crazy
My favourite shads track. That is saying something out of all the great tracks but this just edges it. Mark knopfler does a wonderful very faithful cover on the twang album. But this will never be topped
