Paper is amazing. If you want something that might stand up more to getting wet though, may I suggest trying out polystyrene card (also known as plasticard)? It's a very common material that hobbyists use for model trains and miniature wargaming. It's plastic that come in a wide variety of thicknesses, even down to 0,2 millimeters if you so choose. Easy to cut with scissors and you could probably just duct tape veins made from plasticard to a steel crossbow bolt. You can also glue it very well by using cyanoacrylate glue (common superglue), because cyanoacrylate will slightly melt polystyrene plastic before curing and basically weld plastic surfaces together to make a bond that is just as durable as the plastic itself.

Similar speed to the Ravin r26 top of the line hunting crossbow...but WAY faster to reload and much cheeper and no need to buy the really expensive press to change the string......this will drop most big game with the right hunting head on the arrow!.Cobra is on top of the game right now✊

You think this can drop an elk at 50 meters?
@NightwingGR1
@NightwingGR1 2 года назад
I have to disagree. The performance of this bow is nothing at all like a Ravin or similar bow, not even in the same class. I don't own a Ravin, but I do own a Tenpoint NXT400, and it will generate these same speeds(mine chronos at a consistent 408 fps) with a 400 grain projectile, generating well over 140ft-lbs of KE. For the cobra to get that speed, he has to use a projectile of barely 1/3 that weight(139 grains) that he stated in this video, were much too light for the bow, and potentially dangerous. To be clear, this is an amazing bow, but it's not a hunting bow by any means if ethical, clean kills(which should always be paramount), are to be considered.
@NightwingGR1
@NightwingGR1 2 года назад
@@danielsimchuk7562 No way, at least not ethically. This bow is generating those speeds using an ultralight projectile(139 gr) that has only a fraction of the KE needed on something like an elk, or even a deer. I can get the same speed out of my bow using a 400 grain projectile generating about 3 times as much KE. If you are in an area where crossbows are legal for big game, please consider one of the hunting class crossbows from someone like Tenpoint, Ravin, or Excaliber. Performance and quality will be on another level entirely.
@MrZionforce
@MrZionforce 2 года назад
@@NightwingGR1 Yes we all know that the Cobra crossbows have nothing on the Ravin for speed, distance and power as the Ravin and Ten-point and a whole lot of others. But the average person can't be bothered buying a 3000 Ravin500e or Ten-point Seige to name a few. They take forever to load, they're too heavy and needing winches or cranks like the dinosaur years. And for that sort of money you're better off with high powered rifles. The Cobra Seige bridges the gap a bit more so far as Speed, distance and power. Yet the Cobra Seige with a 7 shot Magazine is only $750 and heightens your chance of self defence. Easy to use, cocking etc. The Seige doesn't need all that extra power, speed and distance like the ones you've mentioned. I can afford all the ones you've mentioned as high powered crossbows. I personally choose a very Tactical, versatile, mobile and greater value for money crossbow any day. Tactical and very affordable crossbows are on the rise and will only get better.
@MrEsphoenix
@MrEsphoenix Год назад
@@NightwingGR1 I'm not a hunter so excuse me if I'm mistaken, but it's draw weight is above the legal minimum draw weight for big game hunting in almost all states and 150-175 is what many hunting sites recommend for hunting elk. I get more is generally better (although sombre states have legal limits) but is there some other aspect this is missing?

In case people don’t know the most relative statistic (apart from shot to shot consistency) is the energy as described in ft.lbs (foot-pounds) /joules - this is more important in hunting than speed (fps/mps)
@NightwingGR1
@NightwingGR1 2 года назад
Exactly. Several comments here have stated that this has the "same performance" as hunting bows. It does not, it's not even close. I shoot a Tenpoint NXT400 that generates about the same speed(mine chronos 408 fps). BUT...it's doing so with an arrow nearly 3 times as heavy, at 400 grains, generating over 140 ft-lbs of energy. The bow in this video would have problems with penetration on a larger animal at any distance at all, as in no case did the Ft-lbs of energy even approach that of modern hunting crossbows(in no case, even with the 1000 gr plus steel bolt, did it generate even HALF the energy of my bow). Not to knock this, it's a very cool bow...but it's NOT a hunting bow.

@MrZionforce
@MrZionforce 2 года назад
Yes the Clip reloadable magazine allows for the Adder to use the 15 inch bolts. Keeping in mind too that the Adder is faster and more powerful than the Cold steel cheap shot although both have the same draw weight of 130Lbs. I know the Seige shoots bolts faster, further and more than twice the power of the Adder, but I haven't seen the Seige with Magazine cocked as fast and frequently as the Adder. I own an adder and my crowd just find the speed and power of the Adder to be scary with some serious shock value.

The bolt broke after wiggling out of the plywood a second time (not a criticism of the bolt, they are of excellent quality!). I don’t want to waste another bolt, so that’s enough of that!

Got mine in today... Fixing to put it together... Seems to weigh a little less than my CenterPoint Sniper Elite 385 I bought several months back before I ran across your channel. In fact, I bought the winch string loader and Broadhead arrows to go with it.. I did put it together, (the CenterPoint) but never shot it...That was a wasted $385.00, sure wish I would have found your channel 1st...LOl... Thanks for all your great Videos Joerg & Break Free Or Die Trying.... P/S... Thanks also to GoGun, USA...

When you design the mag, please make it so that the thing isnt loose. The rx adder has a huge problem in that you cant zero the sight. Every time you reload or touch the mag, it moves the sight relative to the bow.

It would be cool to do a collaboration with tod cutler or something to see what a modern crossbow can do against medieval armour.

What about some modern armour? Like your under attach from Zombies or Raiders after your supplies.

Another comprehensive review of an amazing crossbow. And the magazine for the siege shows typical German ingenuity . Weapon is great, and the presenter is an amazing guy, could listen to him all day.

For 2-vane or 3-vane accuracy, I think that you'd need a much bigger sample size of hits across a much wider set of distances. My hypothesis is that whatever effect the fletching has on accuracy will be observed at longer ranges.

I was wondering how come no one pointed out that the 2 vane arrows drifting to the right is exactly what 3 vanes is meant to prevent.

Absolutely amazing engineering behind this crossbow. Also, I think this would make a perfect weapon for any present day assassins from Assassin’s Creed

Again great vid and excellent shooting and the way I see it the EK Cobra Adder is the 1860 Henry Rifle of crossbows. Also I hope George Miller and Daryl Dixon are paying attention as this right here is a good crossbow for a Mad Max and Zombie apocalypse

there is a BIG potential problem, in case of rapid reloading the scope gonna be touched by the arrow back tip and needs to be zeroed again and again.

To be fair, the Mag kind of loses it's need at longer ranges. Seems it would be more use for closer range stuff.

I love your channel. ❤ I am purchasing one. It would be also great if there was an adapter to shoot ball bearings. I am pretty sure it will take down a moose. Thanks for the review.

Also with the bow flipped so that the string rollers Arts of the front the overall Bow will not be any longer and it will free up the frame in the front for mounting accessories

Wow this is impressive But i have s question left What about the double stacked magazine for the recurve adder?? I love the rusticity of a recurve bow, and sufficient for short distances. Plus, the weight and the price are attractive. I will definitely buy an adder when there will be a double stacked mag. I didn’t planed to buy an adder But when you released the double stacked mag video, i changed my opinion. But i am still amazed by the way you are always improving bows and crossbows You are slowly closing the gaps between arrows and bullets The speed is the advantage of one and the laws are the advantage for the others Well done Joerg

No plans to bring a double stacked mag, too time intensive to load and those cheap third party bolts would probably jam in it.
@Origami84
@Origami84 2 года назад
@@Slingshotchannel We can only hope someone will release the blueprints for a 3d printer, then. Long loading time are not a problem, if one bought the Adder for an home defense situation - he would just keep the loader fully loaded.

Finally, the best, most complete crossbow ever is here! Is it possible to use aluminium bolts rather than carbon fiber ones to achieve better weight distribution for the smaller magazine compatible bolts? Coupled with heavier broadheads (like the bodkin tips from fenris arrows) the aluminium bolts might help provide the weight needed to keep the shooting safe.

I have found super compressed hay bakes are just right to not bury or break the arrows from the high powered compound crossbow. If the hay has moisture, you may have to take a long drill bit and drill 6 holes around the arrow, careful to not drill the arrow. Then it releases like dry alfalfa.

Not bad shooting... the reason your bolts line up like that is because of ur trigger squeeze and maybe your sight picture. Your breathing is on point. Great content

Wow 32 yards and 76 yards thats pretty good accuracy and grouping think I'm gonna purchase one been wanting a better crossbow. Very nice crossbow accurate, powerful, fast reloading even without the mags. $599 isn't that bad for as good as it performance is beats spending $799-$1500 for about the same performance.

The siege has an easy acceleration which assists the survivability of the bolt achieving max mid rail and loosing from the nock gently. All good~

I was wondering : if we put an ACOG sight on the top rail do we still need to bend the scope to reload since an ACOG sight is a bit shorter ? Would be great to test this out ! Btw great video as always !

I'm not a mechanical engineer, but a stationary magazine for long arrows seems conceptually possible if the magazine had mounting/support points separate from the "sliding" section of the crossbow. To my understanding, the downward pressure from the magazine "lever" would function the same. Biggest problem I could see is creating enough space for the sliding lock mechanism and safety compartment to move under the long arrows when drawing the bow.....and for that I can't think of any solution which is why this is not my job lol Absolutely incredible design nonetheless....and GREAT SHOOTING!!!

The two vane vs. three vane is really more obvious when you shoot broadheads. I know they are "tactical" crossbows but here in the U.S. most of us would buy these for hunting. I've added the 190# cross member to my cold steel version. I haven't had time to chrono the bolts but I've added heavier brass inserts and filled the shaft with salt to add weight along with lighted nocks for hunting. My Cheap Shot is New York legal for deer hunting and now capable.
