The Stand by Stephen King Non-Spoiler Review!!! 

Laws yes, this was a great book! M-O-O-N spells great! Some of King's best character work - I often think about these characters and wonder how they're doing after the book ends. The Stand is a top 3 King book for me and I'm glad you're now an official fellow Constant Reader!

I'm a recent Stephen King reader, I've read 8 of his books and The Stand (uncut version) is my favourite by far. I read it in 2019 right before the pandemic started, so great timing there for me, but I definitely would love to reread it again in the future.

Great video, Andrew. The Stand is definitely going to be one of my next King books. It's always intimidated me. I made it about a third through the audio like 5 years ago but I'm a different reader now and I don't think I'd do full audio this time. I’m ready the book now the uncut version being a fan who read Carrie and it’s my favorite 😍 then read it and now reading the Stand I’m really enjoying it I also watched the tv series back in the day it amazes me that back in the day they thought the uncut version was to long Man look at the books that are published now!

In Romania this book has a really cool cover, it is green with red text and a huge abstract painting of a blody raven head. Who ever translated this 860 pages/ 1kg monster in my language had a colosal task to achive. Now i am 134 pages in, and I really apreciate the world building and caracter development. Also the book title here is "Apocalipsa" (The Apocalipse). p.s sorry for bad grammar

I read this book for the first time in January of this year. It's at the top of my list of favorite books of the year. I can't believe it took me so long to read it.

I might not like King, but I can see why alot of people do. Also I really like big books, even though I get tired of holding them, looking at you Stormlight Archive!

I absolutely enjoyed the stand uncut version I have never read the other version this book is on my top ten list of favorite books by Stephen king 🌟

Just finished 11/22/63 for my first foray into King. My dad recommended The Stand next so excited to pick it up.

I have watched both adaptations of the stand I enjoyed both of them and I really liked that king written the final episode in the new version of the stand

One of my favourite King novels!

The unabridged Stand is the only King I have read and several people have said I would have liked rhe shorter one better. There were numerous parts that I did enjoy and there were scenes that were just horrific. Although the scene in one of the shows of Des Moines burning was just comical. And Among the Living by Anthrax is an amazing album with the title track about the Walkin Dude.

Have you ever read a book called swan song by Robert mccammon it's been compared to the stand 📖🤔

I used to be an avid, obsessive Stephen King reader, but even when I was, I never liked either version of this book. It starts strong but it's really pulpy, and it's apparent on the reading that King never wrote an outline for it (especially with that ending). There are a lot of weird logical issues, like the disease seeming to kill all the speaking-role characters in slow, lingering ways, but then instantly killing others (why are people literally dead at their work stations as if they got hit with a gas attack?). And then he went and arbitrarily added 400 pages and made it several degrees worse than before, haha. For anyone interested in reading The Stand, I'd recommend at least going for the shorter version. The pacing is much tighter and there are fewer superfluous characters, diversions and digressions. Anyway, glad you liked it, and I enjoyed your review! :D

His most overrated book IMO, not bad, but why people claim it’s his best book, or even a top 5 King book, I’ve never really understood. It’s way too damn long. Part 1 was great! part 2 was very boring, and the ending for this book is dumb as hell. This book wouldn’t even be in my top half of all King books. I am interested in reading the original condensed version, I think I’ll enjoy it much more than this expanded version. Good review Andrew, I still respect you. 😏
