I'm begging you guys to just listen to my actual opinion on the peach mom situation before just assuming I hate her and commenting that I'm wrong lmao pls realize that criticizing *one* part of her content doesn't mean I disagree with her entire existence. I said multiple times that I appreciate the conversations she's starting and think it's really important to acknowledge how harmful misogyny and outdated sexist ideals are to women, especially moms. I think it's possible to agree with someone's opinions and still point out that constantly dragging their partner through the mud on a very public platform is shitty.

I think a good point with the comics is that a lot of her problems could be aliviated if she. I don't know. talked to her husband about them
@ciarancooper394
@ciarancooper394 Год назад
@@oliverjoukowsky4451 I feel it's likely that she probably does talk to her husband about them? Like, she says he reads them and thinks they're funny. Isn't it likely that they have those discussions when he reads them? I think it's more likely that this is an exaggeration of their relationship dynamics, because the "I hate my spouse" stuff is super common for cis het people. I think she's making content that's relatable for her demographic and it seems messed up to you because you're not a part of that demographic. I don't like it, but it's not for 29 year old white trans men like me.

@@oliverjoukowsky4451 Besides the fact that reading her bio would tell you she does and he likes the comic, seeing this and assuming no conversation ever happened is presumptuous. Imagining a scenario in which a poor man is being secretly maligned, picturing him scrolling through with shock and hurt in utter confusion at what was never discussed with him is not the obvious conclusion to draw. It's nonsense, you think they could live together and he never looks at anything she draws? You think conversation wouldn't happen over these long years of posting? Possible, but nowhere near sensible to assume. The only explanation I can see as to why so many have felt comfortable making this projection is a pretentious belief that no matter how little you've seen, it's never too little to make you uninformed. You saw a comic and felt a feeling. So you've seen all you need to. Begin casting judgements about the resolutions you are not present for to the conflicts you are also not present for.

It especially kills me that this guy says we should let this thing we have let it negatively affect our self-confidence and make ourselves MORE sexually available as a result. Like idk about any other cis woman but if I let anything negatively affect my (already fairly low) self confidence my reaction would be to make myself LESS sexually available, because I'd feel too insecure in my own body to so much as remove my clothing in front of anyone else, let alone let someone try to fuck me.

Back in my early days at university I would do nice things for women and they would just get defensive and act rudely towards me because they immediately thought that I was being nice because I wanted to get in their pants (I'm a gay man and so that wasn't even in my mind). It really made me feel upset that I was never appreciated by women and was only viewed as a threat, but over time I realized what women have to go through and deal with from many of the straight guys out there and so I didn't let their behavior upset me anymore. I just tried to make them feel safe and kept my distance at times so that I wouldn't make them too anxious rather than always trying to be courteous and helpful towards women I didn't know very well.
@esined2386

Okay but the biggest sign they're putting out when they say "I have a boyfriend" is just that they aren't interested. If they're playing hard to get with this sentence that's supposed to hint at their unavailability, they're not really putting in the effort. I, as a woman, personally think it's dumb to play hard to get with something that's supposed to make interested people go away. Aaand weird to think about but a lot of women do it because they're trying to be nice, actually, and they don't know how else to reject someone without being even ruder. I guess you can ask if they're telling the truth?? But I mean why bother? Unless you have actual proof that they might be lying, it really is just best to leave the woman alone

I really appreciate my husband, we have been married for nearly 20 years. I used to organise the bills, cook most of the time, and did probably 70% of the inside house chores. When I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, anxiety, and PTSD (from a psychopath boss) and went on worker's compensation 5 years ago, he really stepped up beyond all expectations. While I tapped out of life, he took over the bills, most of the cooking, and 90% of the chores. But because he is doing everything, our house is a mess, he does not complain about it. I find it very difficult doing anything for weeks on end, he just hugs me and supports me. Because of him, I am starting to get better. All around me there was the struggling straights, mine and everyone else’s parents, and I disliked all the boys. And this was considered normal, completely inevitable, almost like it was how it’s supposed to be. The boys where supposed to pick on us, the parents where supposed to quarrel. Basically half assing everything they have to do until their wife give up relying on them to do things (chores, taking care of kids, ect) it's somethig that comes to light even more when these people have children. There's tiktok videos of a mother taking a short 10MIN SHOWER for the first time since the baby's birth and her husband is waiting behind the door holding the kid like its a bomb, ready to drop it on its mother as soon as she's out. This is a real problem, it's tiring for the woman. But we know how cis men can be... they don't really listen. So most of time these women are left seething until they divorce/break up. This is what i think she's trying to reference in those comics, however like i said the execution isn't good, and look more like public shaming than raising awarness.

He would straight up ignore her, tune her out, half the time. Because of that she was shrill and would constantly nag about things since he never listened! A perpetual back and forth and they were always both so miserable. He'd often pick at her and talk down to her with little comments about her medical marijuana "oh getting high again?" "gonna go smoke a doobie in the garage?" talking to her like she's an addict even though the cannabis stops her from having to take 10+ more pills every day for pain. She was doing the majority of the housework too! Once he retired (more so got fired from his job of 40 years for stealing dog bones) he sat on his ass to watch fox news all day while making fun of her medical marijuana. The straights are not okay lmao. edit: I can't say this without adding that he would feed the dogs chocolate ice cream when no one was looking, then when confronted about it would joke and say it's their birthday. it's goddamn toxic to dogs you old coot! That comic about the woman being prepared for the the holiday gave me dysphoria. I often worry because people say I am motherly, but I'm just caring and ridiculously prepared. I have OCD, so I overthink things often. As a result, I used to carry a rucksack everywhere with everything but the kitchen sink in it as a kid. I have a little list I rattle off now before I leave for anywhere, but I know as soon as I get a car, I will probably fill half the boot with first aid stuff and battery packs and chargers and all sorts, just in case people ask for them. It's just who I am. I just think I am a good planner and I always have been, but parents have to learn to become that through the trial that is parenthood. I just can't switch it off. As per usual though, straight people have to put a binary on everything, so being organised is womanly apparently. Anyway, wish me luck Ty. I am coming out to my twin sister today. I know she'll love me no matter what, but I think she'll be angry it took this long to come out to her. We're 24.

yeah, it sucks for the kids, for sure. the issue for me is though...it´s not HER fault. it´s systemic issues that raising children as a 2 person couple while having jobs and doing all the other household chores is just an insane societal model whcih is rather unique to modern hyper individualized societies. Even if you do not struggle financially or healthwise this is a very overwhealming situation, far from ideal. in other cultures children are taken care for collectively, in larger family groups or other community arrangements. all the women i know who had kids were completly burned out, mentally ill and overwhealmed. then you add the mental and physical workload expected to be done by women into the mix, which men mostly not even see as existent, like knowing all the things kids are allergic to, like or dislike, getting birthday presents for the kids when they are invited to another kids party etc. ALL these hundreds of tiny things that men mostly still do not even consider. the hidden workload of emotional labor and organizational mental workload of knowing when the food storage needs to be refilled. i think this comic is important, politically. yes, it sucks to make that passive agressive comic. but then again: i appreciate women HAVING an actual voice these days so they can make that and get a discussion going that clearly needs to happen. having and raising kids need change on so many levels its messed up like it is now.

Like any relationship it’s perfectly valid to be rejected and also feel hurt by rejection. It ain’t the right person for you so you are 1000% valid. Also gender rolls hurt everyone because everyone is an individual and to make demands that are Bizzare and barely live up to reality makes no sense. I dunno be chill, have sex with whomever you want or don’t, have a family or don’t but just treat other people like people. I struggle with dating (as a Cis hey dude) but the reality is instead of being angry about it I just a bit sad, move on and enjoy my life. Straight people just need to chill and enjoy life and stop harrasing lgbtqia+ folk for the dumbest reasons, like you don’t need a straight pride because straight people aren’t oppressed for being straight. Plus just be cool and chill with lgbtqia+ folks because they want you to be happy too. Like if you are supportive to lgbtqia folk they might be willing to help you meet a cute lady or guy. I am so glad that I came across your channel. I have been out for years. I identify as gay but really don't spend much time around the gay scene. I spend most of my time in my 5th wheel and outdoors. I have friends on all sides of the spectrum. I invited a straight buddy to a recent jeep jamboree/camping event with many of those friends. We spent 5 awesome days together and I am always happy to meet fellow jeepers. To my point. We met a young M2F who was incredibly fun to be around. She to loves jeep jamborees as much as I do and was extremely competitive. My buddy decided he would ride with Kate the following day as she came alone. They ended up riding together everyday. On the way home my buddy talked about Kate the entire trip and asked so many questions and Trans people. He still says he identifies at straight but he is very attracted to Kate on many levels. Your page is going to be a huge resource and provide him insight. We have a jeep event coming up in November and my buddy has asked to ride along with me again. I am looking forward to seeing my buddy interested in someone again after a rough divorce.

When I was a kid this girl fuckin bullied me relentlessly and I was told it was bc she liked me, turns out she was desperately trying to recreate the situation her parents were in so she could cope with it better. Maybe if they actually helped her instead of assuming she liked me she would’ve grown up happier.

I lived with a friend who had two kids ages 2 & 3 when I was 19. When I went to the bathroom, I had to lock the door or the kids would walk right in. And when I locked the door, I had exactly 30 seconds before one or both of them was screaming outside the door, I mean hysterically sobbing and screaming in terror at the fact that a door was locked and they couldn't see me. Their mother was home, fifteen feet away, but not being able to come in and watch me pee was the greatest tragedy of their lives. Once, I forgot to lock the door while I was taking a bath, and while I was rinsing shampoo out of my hair with my eyes clothes, the two year old climbed into the tub and landed on top of me, while still fully clothed. Children do not have boundaries. This life experience cured me of the desire to have children. The cute moments did not make up for the irritating ones.

My mom was a working mother. You know what she did to make dad take care of us? She left the house. She took painting, cake decorating, lawn chair weaving, and stained glass classes. You know what she told dad? You’re on your own for dinner. Momlife should do that. I don’t think my dad had any idea what to do with daughters since he was an only child with predominantly male cousins. Mom made him figure it out. Granted, there were only about five things he could cook, but we grew up just fine.

I had to remove myself from a few online parenting groups as I found myself joining in with the constant moaning about kids and partners. It seems to be expected in some groups. I think people have probably always moaned that they're doing all the cleaning or all the childcare to friends but once you put it on the internet for millions of people to see it becomes your whole personality and instead of communicating and finding solutions you become a martyr. I wonder if the moaning posts got more likes so it got out of hand. But also, maybe her husband has IBS...
@siiiriously3226
@siiiriously3226 Год назад
yeah, but the moaning and nagging IS the only thing i experienced women were allowed to use as an outlet for the unfairness and invalidation by their husbands, in straight relationship. it´s part of the dysfunctional societal model of straight relationships. so i think it´s politically and culturally great that she puts it out there, clearly it resonates with many many women and there needs to be a dialogue. for the individuals involved it sucks. for the couple and the kids, it think it´s real messa to have that posted.

@@siiiriously3226 It would be really cool if she made a new series highlighting the whys of the situation. Like, in the peach example, why did she feel that she wasn't worthy of eating the last peach, whereas her husband felt totally fine doing that? Assuming her kids weren't suffering from scurvy, the fruit is there to be eaten and enjoyed. Why do women feel they shouldn't enjoy things unless everyone else's needs are met first? I'm thinking a comic showing her growing up and seeing other females in her life ignoring their own needs for partners or children. Or a comic showing her husband reading how she's really pissed off and feels underappreciated but then he's just laughing. Maybe that's how it goes every time she tries to speak seriously but because he's grown up around men who make jokes about their "nagging wives" he doesn't take it seriously. And it would be nice to see a comic of them having a proper conversation about it and how they don't want their kids growing up with the exact same discriminatory views about gender roles. Maybe in couples counseling. I think this applies with all areas of disgruntlement - that it's really healthy to have somewhere you can vent and rant and to feel seen, but that if that becomes the norm every day it has the opposite effect. The next step needs to be doing something to remedy the situation, if that is possible. I wonder if the issue is worse in the US? I notice so many TV shows have the overworked mum, lazy dad trope. And the majority of "are the straights okay?" finds seem to be from the US. I feel like in the last 20 years we don't see that as much on UK TV. Shows like Outnumbered show both parents as working really hard and they tend to communicate with each other more. Also loads of kids TV has really positive male role models (Bing, Bluey, Topsy and Tim, The Dumping Ground). I'd be interested to know if US kids shows have also changed.

One thing I've noticed also is that, in our Western society, we enjoy complaining with one another. Especially if it's in a shared sense. I remember reading the experience of a local tour guide in Japan who took a Western Jewish family around and the older mother complained about everything to the point that the guide almost was in tears despite doing everything to accommodate her. In fact, accommodating her in everything seemed to annoy her more. But at the end, the mother left her an extremely generous tip. In Japan, complaints are (at least IRL, apparently) taken seriously and people there attempt to fix whatever is the matter. But many people in Western culture just find comfort in complaining. I do to some extent. However, there is alot to unpack here. The fact that the complaints are remarkably the same and from the same people people across the board are indicative of persistent issues in the relationship dynamics. It's almost like a boil that won't go away so they just regularly lance it to relieve the pressure. But it always comes back.
