My favorite part is that Kyle always wondered what Sarah was thinking at that moment of the picture. And it turned out she was thinking of Kyle. Lovers across time.

Originally, Arnold was supposed to play the good part. After reading the script, he really wanted to play the role of the Terminator. A good and important decision.

Kyle Reese was played by the same actor a Hicks in aliens. The policeman at the station was Lance Hendrickson ( however you spell it) he played bishop the android on aliens. The punk terminator kills to get his clothes, was bill Paxton who played Hudson on aliens.

"This world must be blowing Reese's mind." In a deleted scene he breaks down crying because the world was so beautiful. He wasn't used to it.

The sweet thing about Kyle and Sarah is that he fell in love with her seeing her picture as he wondered what she thought about. When, in that moment, she was actually thinking about him and how she loved him.

“Laser naked guys” had me in stitches 😂 I’ve never heard them described that way and the world is now better for it! 😂😂

You're spot-on about Kyle not having seen the world like this. There's a deleted scene where he has a bit of a meltdown about it. Totally worth looking up. And since I know you've seen the sequel it's safe to say there's also a deleted scene at the end of this one that shows that shows that the place Sara crushed the terminator was actually Cyberdine who would go on to make Skynet. So _both_ John and Skynet wouldn't have existed without this time travel. It's a real chicken-and-the-egg puzzle.

I always get this hilarious picture in my head of Sarah getting away from the terminator without crushing it. There's half a robot, crawling down the side of the interstate at 9 in the morning, looking for Sarah who's on a plane to Omaha or wherever.

The photo is kind of sweet. Kyle essentially fell in love with her over that picture, saying she seemed sad and he always wondered what she was thinking about in it. The kid took the photo when she was thinking about him. Only we the audience can make that connection.

One of my absolute favourite things about this movie is that Reese fell in love with her from her legend, but also from looking at the picture and wondering what she was thinking of, and what she was thinking of, was him. It will scramble your brain for sure, but it's so sweet and sad!

When this first released in theaters, I went back several times to see it. It's my favorite romance movie of all time... even in 2029.

I was 14 when this came out. For the day it was pretty good special effects. I remember being freaked out, especially when the terminator was removing the bullets from itself. I've seen all the terminator films all were pretty enjoyable. Great reaction!

I ADORE the ending to this movie. Sarah sees the storm coming, clearly a metaphor for the war and she rides into it because she knows she must. Badass.

The first two terminator movies, are some of all time favourite movies ever, and I've watched them countless times. But the time line always has baffled me how it works out. Incredible video cassie. Keep being amazing

Your reaction was the same, actual reactions we had inside the theatre in 1984. People screamed and squirmed when the Terminator was repairing his damaged arm and removal of his artificial left eye. It was the best movie of 1984. I am almost 70 years young, and this movie is part of my video collection. Well done young lady!!!

Fun trivia: Prior to being cast as The Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger watched Westworld (1973), and was amazed by Yul Brynner's performance as a robot in the film. During their first meeting, Schwarzenegger talked to James Cameron about how The Terminator should be played and that whoever plays it shouldn't act like a machine, but be a machine. This convinced Cameron to cast Schwarzenegger as The Terminator.

The sequel, Terminator 2, is hands down one of the best action movies ever made. Takes the basis of The Terminator and builds on it in a way that is utterly incredible and surprising. You will love it.

Arnold’s performance as the Terminator is really undersold. Yeah, most of the time he isn’t lauded for acting ability (I do think he grew as an actor over time...not much range obviously but actually pretty charismatic), but it’s not nothing to believably depict a machine. He’s genuinely frightening in this-you believe he’s The Terminator. It’s in the physicality and the “deadness” in his eyes.

I just discovered this channel today and I am hooked. I've watched like 6 of these in a row so far and I love Cassie, she's super funny and really smart. It's impressive how often she calls out the plot before it's revealed.

Terminator is one my favorite movies (even more then the sequel even if I love it too) so its amazing to see someone watching it for the first time.

She is a sunshine child, we must protect her and show her the sequel.

'Terminator' is a perfect great 80s action movie, but honestly I feel like its true purpose was to set things up for 'Terminator 2', which is one of the greatest action films of all time (and was made in the early 90s with much better special effects technology, a bigger budget, and a better soundtrack). Also, Michael Biehn (who played Kyle Reese) is one of the most underrated actors of all time.

Congratulations, you have just watched the greatest science fiction movie ever. At least that's what I thought when I saw it in the cinema in 1984. Loved your reaction ! BTW some of the effects look a little weak in 2021 like the stop motion Endoskeleton but in 1984 they were the best possible, created by the late great Stan Winston.

I recommend watching the DVD of this with the original Mono audio track enabled if you ever get a chance (not as a reaction video of course, but just on your own). A lot of the sound effects were changed in the Stereo remaster, and the music was made less subtle. The original Mono audio brings the film to another level, feeling darker and grittier.

Fun Fact : The post-apocalyptic scenes were actually shot in my town in northern England. They had to clean the place up a bit first but I think it looked pretty realistic.

Reese never knew that she was actually thinking of him in that picture. Pretty sad ending actually.

To anyone confused about how the time loop started: the Artifical Super-Intelligence was always going to get created, maybe not named Skynet, maybe not created by Cyberdyne Systems but created nonetheless. Maybe the leader of the resistance wasn't called John Connor, maybe the humans weren't even winning the war before the time loop started. We know Kyle was in a concentration camp, we know time-travel is impossible for anything but organic material, maybe Kyle, the first Kyle, was the first guinea pig sent back in time by "Skynet" or whatever it was called in the first iteration, just as a test. Kyle meets Sarah Connor in 1984, they fall in love, he tells and convinces her about the war, they make sexy time and create the first John and both of them raise him to be a leader, without a Terminator hunting them. Then the nuclear war that was always going to happen happens when the first ASI is created and they die. The first John knows where Kyle is located, finds and frees him (remember he knows about the barricades and how to storm them) and leads humanity to defeat Skynet, eventually ending up at the time travel machine. This time though, as an act of desperation Skynet sends the Terminator to kill Sarah, John sends Kyle back and the first time loop happens.

This is my first reaction of yours that I'm seeing, and you are such a gift to filmmakers! Your willingness to invest, to immerse in the story and feel what the characters are feeling - even if sci fi is not your thing, even if it's from 1984 and shows its age in the technical aspects - is awesome. I think Terminator is one of the best sci fi films ever made, but often, non-fans can't suspend their disbelief enough to appreciate it, so I appreciate your coming to the film with an open heart. I'm looking forward to more.

I often find that "Care Bears: The Movie" is a good follow-up to this one, if you're gonna watch a couple movies back to back. Both films are extremely similar in plot, style, and their overall vibe.

You know Cass, the most beautiful and melancholy moment in this movie is that ending. Kyle told Sarah that in the picture that John gave her she looked sad, and he always wondered what she was thinking. The ending shows it. She was thinking about you Kyle. She was sad because she lost you. He could never know that and she'd never be able to tell him. 😢

The police lieutenant believes him! In a scene that was cut, it shows the dying lieutenant giving Reece his gun, telling him to keep Sarah alive at all costs.

Arnold was brave and smart to to agree to be the villian. It was his first movie after the Conan films and established him as an upcoming actor, not just movie star.

"Aliens" was James Cameron's next film after "The Terminator." Several actors from "The Terminator" appeared in "Aliens", like Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn, who played Hicks in "Aliens" and Kyle in "The Terminator".

The heartbreaking moment for me is that Reece has spent years wondering what sara was thinking about in the picture and at the end we find out she was thinking of him.

Its cool to realise that this movie wasnt expensive, no one thought that this will be one of the most famous and successfull movies ever, Cameron and Arnold wasnt that big stars that time, their stardom starts with this movie. First Cameron wants Biehn as Terminator and Arnold as Protector but Arnold says he want to be the villain. "My critics says i cant act, cant move, cant talk and all the time i make the same face. So its ok and i will show them they are right. These villain is most impressive at all." His friends and his Manager says if he take that role, a machine without emotions that kills many innocent people, lots of Cops and hunts a young scared Lady will end his career... But this role was the kickstart for him. I remember how shocked and thrilled the audience was back in 84, no matter what happens with the Machine, it comes back all the times...unstoppable. And this movie still works till today.

The actor that played Kyle Reese is Michael Bihn . He starred in Aliens 2 and was in Tombstone as Johnny Ringo ! Excellent actor !

This was the best reaction to this movie I've ever seen. You were right there with Sarah, feeling everything she was feeling, literally beat for beat, and that was amazing. Instead of being all cynical about watching "some old action movie", you suspended your disbelief and just took the ride. I've never seen anybody else do that before.
