The untold story told by a New Orleans native and Hurricane Survivor. This is a true account, as witnessed by me. I encourage EVERYONE to watch this video; This is the most important one that I have ever done. Part 1- The Beginning
This is a powerful statement! I have been searching for the past five years, for some explanation regarding the US gov't's neglect of the people of New Orleans during this crisis. Haven't found it yet. Thanks.
I'm Italian and SO proud to call you brother. Thank you, you spoke not just for your race, but my family. Thank you for that, you did it most eloquently.
I know what you mean about loss of appetite. I didnt eat for seven days. I was at my grandma's house in MS, but I had no desire to eat. I didnt get the shakes, no headache - no nothing. I still marvel about that to this day. It was like my throat just closed up. It's absolutely amazing what your body will do in traumatic situations. I guess I was surviving on adrenaline.
When they cannot drop the basics of water to our brothers and sister there is a huge planned problem wake up folks. God Bless you and so happy you lived to tell your story!
Well, one thing that should be made very clear is that the government mandate to leave was declared at the very last minute. In the case of my father... Yes, he did have the option to leave. However, let us not forget that, for the vast majority who stayed, leaving was simply not an option. If you don't have a car or enough money to support yourself in your own hometown, how are you supposed to find the means to move somewhere else?... and with less than 3 days notice at best.
Just know that I don't hate you. You can't possibly love yourself, exhibiting so much intense bitterness and hatred... And I'm sorry for that. I hope that you realize your value very soon; you're worth a lot more than this.
i respect that you let out the truth i was in new orleans 3 months b4 the hurricane hit for a choir tour and it hurt even not being a native knowing that somewhere i just visited recently was swept away it was heartbreaking and knowing that when i found out i donated 1500 dollars to the red cross to help i was only 16 at the time and pulled it out of my college fund to help those in need ty for telling the truth it was an inspiration
I remember so very clearly screaming at the tv (Sydney, Australia), "WHERES THE US ARMY?! WHY ARENT THEY DOING ANYTHING!? IF THIS WAS WASHINGTON THEYD BE DOING SOMETHING!!!) I was so flabbergasted, so confused, worried and really scared. We couldn't imagine the scene at the Big Bowl, the smell, violence and uncomfortability, the fkn madness. Those parents not being able to keep their babies clean, fed or safe. One little girl was raped and killed! People SHOULD STILL BE TALKIBG ABOUT HOW NOTHIN WAS DONE. SHAME ON BUSH AND THE REST
hello Eric my name is Leona. I live in the uk, its unfortunate that you had to suffer in a situation like that, but on the other hand it seems as though a lot of truth wouldn't have been expressed if you were'nt there. Your friends did good by encouraging you to speak up and from all my friends and family in england I'M VERY PROUD OF YOU FOR SPEAKING UP!! I rate you highly as a musician and a teacher. Ignorant people will be the downfall of not just america but the world. xx
Katrina was handled poorly. You are right. Let's not also forget Rita. It took out my entire hometown, my job, my home, all of my memories - everything gone in a day. We were kept out of our homes for weeks. We recieved almost no aid. 2 yrs later - the town is still recovering. I'm sorry for you loss and all the losses unaccounted for.
Thanks for your story. I don't know why, but I am gravitated towards the victims and what happened in New Orleans because of Katrina. I want to know people's stories, and I appreciate yours...SBN RESONATE
I'm so glad that you did this video for one because it does assists in raising legitimate questions in regards to whether the levees was compromised by The Act of The Most High with the tidal waves and whatnot or was this he doing of The government because even Louis Farrakhan even said on C-Span that there were fragments of concrete that was covered in black powdered substance as a outcome of the explosion of the levees and it was confirmed.
Thank you for posting. I hope you and your family have begun to your lives back. We as people to find a way to w/o the gov't. Don't look to the gov't anything they fuck up everything.
Hey Eric, I am truly sorry to hear about what you went through, and I was surprised& disgusted on how the army treated you guys because of your color. I am a colored person myself, and what I don't know is,what gives them the right to treat colored people this way? Everyone should have been treated equally with respect and dignity.I never heard that this actually happened in the aftermath of Katrina.I feel your pain, and I think you should be heard on T.V. Are you still living in New Orleans?
Eric, I was born in 1959...my generation know all about racial prejudice, because we grew up in the 60's. I'm sorry my young brutha, that it took hurricane Katrina to open your eyes to the fact that racial prejudice is still active in this modern day times. My generation knows all so well about it and we know it's not going anywhere. Eric, we have to look at the world as the way it is, and not the way we wish it was. Eric, keep reachin for the stars my young brutha !!!!!!
Ignore the trolls. It's funny how people are more interested in a good story than good people regardless of their color. Though you speak the truth, it will be overlooked like the many other people with many other stories to tell. It's unfortunate the way things work. My family stayed too and I'm just thankful that they're safe--like you and your family. Really, as stated earlier, let it be a warning and a wake-up call. No one cares as much as you think they do.
Hmmm.... the same thing happened in 1994 in Albany Ga. A huge flood came in and flooded the city. Now mind you, it was blamed on the "rainfall". However, it didnt rain any worse that day than anyother day. Yet, at around 6:00 pm on a Tuesday afternoon water was every fucking where!! So, I see your point about how everything was normal then BOOM here comes a flood.
Eric, God bless you and all the people of NOLA. Your story telling has brought the tears back. I am so sorry for the lack of leadership we have in America and I am so ashamed of our elected officials. We must take our nation back for the future generations, we must become America again. Thank you for sharing.
Never live inside a bowl. That area is under sea level. I think I would get claustrophobic knowing that is just some walls holding ocean water from penetrating the city.
You know I have been thinking about you and what you went through. I just want to say that white people love blacks even to the point that they fought a war called the Civil War to defend the rights of Blacks. Don't forget those that died for equal rights in that War. I am sad of what happen with those that suffered during Katrina.
People don't care, 😂 you said human brothers and sisters they almost never exist... just like finding a dollar on the street almost never happens. They needed katrina to bring the "people" together.
