Do you think it's a bad idea to combine multiple lookalike and custom audiences while filtering them through a very specific interest in a single ad set (I focus on a very specific audience tied to a single graphic software)? Hey Ben, Your videos have been an absolute game-changer for me, so first off, thank you! I am an author who sells my books via Amazon. I would love to create a lookalike based on people who buy my books. As you know, Amazon makes this difficult. Right now, I set up an event pixel for anyone who clicks the "Click here to purchase book" button on my website. Of course, not everyone who clicks will buy. But I figured this is the closest I can get to tracking buyers. Is this the best I can do, or is there a workaround? Thanks!

This is a great video Ben - thanks! I have one question - I'd like to create a lookalike audience based on an email list, does GDPR become a factor in this? I have privacy policy for people that sign up to the mailing list to accept, but this doesn't include anything about Facebook. Is there a standard line of text that I should add into the Privacy Policy to make sure I'm complying to GDPR? Or is this not an issue here? Thanks! :-)

Amazing content as always! I have been generating sales for my team by simply following your videos. A quick question. Do you recommend creating a lookalike audience based on pixels directly instead of custom audiences? The problem is pixel doesn't receive events correctly every now and then.

Thanks Hubert - great to hear that. I would base them on Pixel data is possible. That way they update automatically. Yes the Pixel isn't 100% accurate but it's pretty close. I wouldn't worry about the inaccuracies.

I have a question please: We'll have a Custom Audience of people who have Purchased from our (Shopify) website in the past 180 days, and we'll have a Mailchimp Customer List also (but this list, I think, includes a number of people who have subscribed to our mailing list but haven't yet made a purchased). Which is the better Custom Audience to turn into a Lookalike Audience?

I've never used the "Customer List" option, but have used "website" option for people who have purchased in the last 180 days. Apart from the time period, are these two options basically the same? Might test both.

Thanks a lot. They are similar other than the time difference as you say. You also will see a higher match rate with the second option which will result in a larger and more accurate audience.

Really valuable video Ben. Much appreciated. 1 quick question - I know you said not to use interest targeting when using LALs but noticed you didn't unselect 'detailed targeting expansion'. Can 'detailed targeting expansion' be completely ignored if no interest targeting is added? I normally uncheck that box when running normal cold campaigns. Not sure if you've ever found it valuable (in any type of campaign) in your experiences. Thanks

So for creating an LLA off of an email list for a local business for example, you mentioned that we shouldn't do 1-2% LLA because on the ad set level when we set the specific city to target, the LLA audience may be too small, and we should do a higher % LLA. What range or what calculation should we use to find a good % for the area we are targeting? (Or do we create several and wait to see the resulting audience sizes from the variation of %s?) Thanks!

Awesome video Ben, thank you. 2 quick questions: 1. When initially creating an audience based on customers who have purchased, we'll start with a list of say 100 customers. As we run ads, our customer list will grow - does the source customer list continue to grow as well and further refine the lookalike audience or will we need to go back and update the source list down the road? 2. Similar question when creating an audience based on FB/IG interactions - if we decide to use those that interacted with us in the last 180 days, is that 180 days from the day the audience is created or is it always 180 days in the past on a rolling, go-forward basis? (ie. previous 180 from today, then 180 days from next week, next month, etc) Thanks!!!

Thanks a lot. The ad copy won't be translated automatically. In that case I would target other countries that speak different languages in separate ad sets and change those ads accordingly.

When I tried creating a custom audience, my pixel shows a red button beside it however when I checked my events manager for my pixel, it shows that it is active. Do you know how I can solve this?

Hey Ben. Thank you for this detailed tutorial. It was really useful. But I've tried to work with lookalike audiences, and i have a problem. I've chosen lookalike 1% - website visitors 180 days (this custom audience is 21000 people according to FB, it is written "ready" in Audiences both for the custom and for this lookalike, and for the lookalike it is written "size varies", depends on location, both of them where created more than a week ago) and i have a message in Audience definition part: "Potential Reach Available Soon Potential reach and estimated daily results are not available yet because one or more lookalikes are updating. These estimates will be available 2-4 hours after you create your campaign." And nothing has changed during the week. I cant see the potential reach, so I dont know if this audience is big enough. I've tried other sources (engagers with Instagram/Facebook last 356 days, and also different periods - 30 / 60 / 90 days). Country - Ukraine. Do you know what is going on?How to fix this?

Exactly the tutorial I needed! Quick question, how well do you think LLAs do across multiple countries? I'm targeting the big 4 and I have about 175 sales in total so far, I think maybe 90 of them are from America. Would it make more sense to run it for multiple countries, or cut down my list to just American customers for the one? I'm planning on doing both but I'm curious what your take on this is.

I have a quick question. I’m a wedding photographer and after watching this video going to do some lookalike audiences. I have a large email list of both clients and also enquired clients. Now everyone I target are Engaged but obviously once they are married they change their relationship status to married. Will my new lookalike base part of the data on the fact the this email list has change status as I don’t want to advertise to couples already married. If this is the case should i use additional targeting in the ad set to narrow down to relationship status-engaged?

I hope someone can help, when using a lead generating form custom audience. If i am starting out, do i need to create the ad set with the form before creating the custom audience?

Hi Ben, a very insightful video! Thanks for sharing this. Had a quick question - while creating website audiences, if we select the option - People who visited a specific webpage, can the url or the webpage be a competitor's page? Or it has to be a page from our own website?

Thanks a lot. It has to be your own website I'm afraid, unless your competitor lets you install your Facebook pixel on their website...
