The Ultimate Super Smash Bros Roster Rant - Nintendrone 

I kinda went a bit insane making this video, so hopefully everyone enjoys it! Hilariously enough, I went into this video thinking it would've turned out to be 10-minutes, but once again, it snowballed into insanity. I'm most definitely planning on doing a really short Uncivil Synopsis for the next video, because these lengthy endeavors have been kicking my ass! Still, with the Smash DLC coming out soon and with Super Smash Bros Ultimate possibly being the last game before a reboot, I kind of felt obligated to do this because it might be my last chance to cover this topic. Hopefully you guys don't get too upset at me hating you're character choices, cause honestly, I'm being really hyperbolic in this video and it really doesn't matter (AKA dickless nerd shit).

As much as I love Bandanna Dee you're actually right, people mostly want him to complete the quartet from Return to Dreamland. Really if any Kirby character would be easy to put in the game, Sakurai could just include Galacta Knight as an Echo for Meta Knight and call it a day.

I HIGHLY recommend Golden Sun (+ Lost Age). It's the best JRPG on the GBA.

Sakurai said he wanted Rex in. And XB2 did great. Hes a 1st party, relevant, and popular. All you cited was your own confirmation bias and disdain for his aethetic. A Rex fan can make a great objective case for him.

51:20 Alright, time to make a comment that the creator of the video won't even read. I understand why you feel this way, even chuckled abit, but lemme tell you my opinion. Look, I get it. On the base, Joe and the Chorus Kids don't have much moveset potential. Hell, I'm in the minority that wants Joe instead of Chorus Kids. But think of characters like Mr. Game & Watch or Duck Hunt. Who said they were only entitled to their select few of minigames? Rhythm Heaven is a massive minigame compilation that has a colorful pallet of unique and weird scenarios. Some of those could be referenced in a moveset for smash, like I mentioned, how Game & Watch references minigames in his series. A point that most people don't bring up however is the lack of rhythm game representation in the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly fine with having them not make it, but out of the 70 characters in Ultimate, how many characters represent a greatly current genre of video games? None of them, and don't even get me started on DK's old Final Smash. Edit: To rival your "No-one knows this franchise" argument: Think of how many characters you could say the same for if Smash didn't shine light on them! Captain Falcon, R.O.B, Pit. You'd be lying if you told me you knew who Ness was before Super Smash Bros hit the scene.

Dunno how Banjo gets a free-pass from just about everyone. Almost as irrelevant as Geno, and he won't mean a thing to anyone who never owned a 64 (Pretty much anyone under the age of 20 by this point). He's a quintessential boomer pick. Also, he's not a big a gaming icon as you think he is. To put it into perspective, the first Crash Bandicoot, the lowest selling in the original trilogy, outsold Banjo's entire series combined. Moveset potential's real good, but I always found the whole 'history with Nintendo' to be mostly moot when you consider Snake (Yeah, he started in the NES, but people know him from Metal Gear Solid over the original Metal Gear titles), Cloud (A clear PS1 star) and Joker (Again, more of a Playstation character,) so the whole history with Nintendo advantage isn't a big factor.

R.O.B is probably the only exception to the rule of "video game only" characters since he's not technically a video game character. Even the video games you use him for (Gyromite and Stack-Up) don't actually feature him in the game. However, he did show up as a bonus character for Mario Kart DS. Just a technicality, but some fun trivia I guess.

In this entire 1 hour 32 minute video, he basically says you're an idiot for having a dream. He basically says you're not allowed to hope your favorite character gets into the game, and he's incredibly ungrateful for the characters we have in the game (despite how he started the video, calling other smash bros fans ungrateful). Now, finally, HyperCharge, if you took the time to read through this comment, despite how much I've insulted you, I have a request to ask of you. Please rethink a lot of what you've said in this video, and work on a better attitude - try not to swear as much, and please for the love of God, pronounce "aka" correctly. You're sure as hell passionate for video games and for videos on your channel and upload whatever you see is right in your eyes. I'm also not sure if you wrote a script for this video or not, but if you did, then good job, 1.5 hours of script isn't an easy job to do. This video must've taken a lot of time to make, but the problem with it is that, ultimately, you're calling everyone an idiot except for yourself.

Actually.....people enjoy Kingdom Hearts for its gameplay largely (yes the story is a cluster fuck but that's not why i play the series) also the Disney Renaissance characters and worlds are a great addition for nostalgia, as well as the Final Fantasy cameos. (Yes they are there as fan service, but that's why fans love it so much) Also the games can be hard as hell on Proud Mode.

Actually, Sakurai himself said that a character has to originate from a video game, so no, Goku will never make it in. On the other hand, James Bond was considered for Smash 64, so you never know.

You’ve clearly never seen anything related to Dark Pit beyond his design. He’s a completely different character from Pit, not just a recolor. Comparing him to pink gold Peach is the funniest shit I’ve heard in a long time, because that isn’t an accurate comparison whatsoever. I’m so sick of people talking shit about a character when they can’t even get the basic information of said character right. And the rhythm heaven bit was hilarious too. Do you seriously think anything you said about Joe and the Chorus Kids is valid when we have the ice climbers? Who the hell knew who they were pre-Smash inclusion? What the fuck do they do in their game other than climb? Yet they still got an entire moveset. They’re just as obscure as the rhythm heaven characters, yet here we are seeing them appear in their third smash game. There’s a lot more about this video I could talk about, but wow most of this hour long waste of time just screams ‘I don’t know what I’m talking about’.

The lack of research for most of these characters is hilarious, along with how you insert your own opinions into Sakurais and act like he shares your very flawed viewpoints. Also, the strawmanning of multiple fanbases is even funnier than your other bits! Finally, I LOVE how you break your rules constantly and put you and your opinions in as reasons why characters shouldnt get in! A fair and balanced video for sure, my friend! Literally only 2 people are complaining about the roster, sure some people might be upset that their character isn’t in the game, which is fair. But that doesn’t mean the majority of the fans are mad at Sakurai and his team. You’re really just focusing on the negativity

At this point, you’re just complaining about what people would like. It’s no better than some people wanting some characters. All you had to do was calmly say “some characters don’t have enough inspiration”. The developers have broken enough rules for character choices that you can really determines who deserves to get in. But your personality in the video is so angry that it’s really hard to take your opinions seriously.

I don't think you can just make a set of basic rules and apply it to the entire cast. The very fact that there are exceptions that apply to most characters should say that. There is no criteria; Sakurai and co choose characters for specific reasons. These specific reasons may often align with what you pointed out, but they don't have to. Sakurai loves Persona, and that's likely a major reason he chose Joker. Having one spinoff on the 3DS doesn't qualify for a rep in my eyes, if we're going by Nintendo relationships. Nintendo relationships can be a reason, like with Bayonetta, but it's not necessary if the character has other major reasons to be chosen. I think that instead of having specific rules, we should look at any and all reasons a character has and gauge their likelyhood or how much they "deserve" it off of that. Whether it be fan popularity, commercial success, hype/surprise factor, or any number of other things. Also, I don't think anybody gives Sans enough credit. He may be a joke, but he's also much more than that. His game is the most impactful indie game on the market, barring Minecraft. He has great moveset potential from his boss fight alone, and he's just in general a good character. If any indie character, again, barring Minecraft, deserves get in Smash, it's him.

i like the video but you miss a big point, smash has changed. it is no longer a celebration of just nintendo but gaming as a whole. So you cant say a character is bad because it is not nintendo. This is also why Goku should never be in the game because he is an anime character. Sometimes you need to remove a little bias to have a good opinion backed up with facts

If Sakurai and some people really think that Waluigi has no potential, then they are so wrong about that idea. Especially with the creation of Luigi and Captain Falcon (back in Nintendo 64), Daisy and Piranha Plant. This is what I did in my research for Waluigi. It took more time, but it was worth it. Everyone please read all of this. AND I MEAN, EVERYTHING I WROTE! Alternate Costumes: Option #1: ***Remember, Reggie mains Waluigi as his character, and he also likes the memes of Waluigi, even the Nintendo company likes him and wanted him playable in smash. I may not know what Sakurai's relationship with Waluigi is because Sakurai had a plushy of Waluigi, on one hand, but he also judged that Waluigi would be "too powerful" in smash (But hey, we though that Bayonetta was powerful, but she still has some weaknesses of her own too. So that applies for all of the characters in smash, even for Waluigi)*** - Purple overalls (default costume) - His biker outfit (as a depiction of him with his own game he can have like Waluigiware) - Luigi's costume (only this time, it will be blue shirt and green pants (like Wario has red pants and blue shirt from Donkey Kong Arcade)) - The Family Waluigi costume (as shown with him all white in a comic: The Family) - The Japanese cover art costume (like how Mario, Luigi and Wario have a cyan costume) - The Walurambo costume (with him showing muscles) (I mean Shulk is in his bathing suit, I don't see why you cannot use this costume for Waluigi) - Mario's costume (only this time, it will be red shirt and purple pants (like Wario has brown pants and green shirt from Mario Bros. arcade - A soccer outfit from Mario Strikers (in which he was captain of his own team (Mario Strikers series)) Option #2: ***Or if they want to go simple, this is my personal favorite, but they should do four of Waluigi's costume in his overalls, while the other four can be him in a biker outfit. Otherwise, everything can be his shoot by his hands) Lost animation (2nd, 3rd, 4th): Waluigi's clapping animation from Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games when he comes in 4th place Victory Music: Option #1: Waluigi should have the same victory music as Bowser, Bowser Jr. (and the koopalings), and EVEN PIRAHNA PLANT has. That music is only for Mario villains, and Waluigi was also one of the main villains in the Mario universe. Option #2: Waluigi should have the same victory music as Wario does after all of the smash games he's been in. Plus, he does somewhat live in the Wario universe too. Maybe Nintendo can even make a game of Wario and Waluigi working together in their adventures, or even Waluigi having his own game. Either way, this is another choice acceptable for Waluigi. Option #3: Waluigi should get victory music from the spin-offs he has been in. Some would be a victory music from Mario Kart: Double Dash! ; when he's in first place, a victory music from Mario Party 8; when he wins a mini game, or even a victory music from Mario Sports Mix when his team entirely won the game. This would be cool too. I think sakurai keeps making the best decisions for what to do with the smash roster. He was able to make clone characters desirable by calling them echoes and making it more obvious that they're not stealing their spot on the roster from anyone. He was also able to include fan favorites that couldn't realistically be characters as mii costumes.
