If I remember correctly, the devs of this game were gonna have good & evil Cole be the same character, with choices made during the match determining which route you went down. It was actually Sucker Punch who suggested making them separate characters.

Here's the problem with Kiryu: the director of that series, Toshihiro Nagoshi, said that he doesn't want Kiryu in Smash Bros. because Kiryu would never beat up a woman...kind of a problem if you had him in a roster with Heather Mason, Fat Princess, Aloy, etc. AND had his rival be Tifa. Instead, I say for Tifa's rival, you replace Kiryu with Goro Majima himself, or even get another kickass lady in there by putting in Nina Williams from Tekken

If classic Dante and Raiden were in the same game I would absolutely hope they’d have a rival battle, you could say that with all the weird world mixing Dante assumes Raiden is some alternate version of Vergil and Raiden assumes Dante is somehow part of desperado, it really feels like a perfect matchup imo

I was with you until you said Toro shouldn't be in the roster. The literal mascot of Japanese PlayStation, should 100% still be in this game as a fighter. Just like smash Bros makes picks for both it's western and Japanese audience ( Hero from Dragon Quest, to Banjo.) You need those characters for both sides.

A sequel to Playstation All-Stars should have some representation of Sony's more obscure franchises like Tomba, Wild Arms, Puppeteer, and The Legend of Dragoon.

For a character from a horror series, Leon Kennedy works very well as he's very action oriented and has been in lots of games. i have an idea, what if? the Polygon Man has a backstory in-game where explains that after being rejected as the mascot for playstation he was going to be erased from existence, but manage to escape with that kind of energy we seen in the original all-stars battle royale, and with that kind of power with his anger and wishes for revenge he goes to the playstation multiverse to destroy the legacy of playstation with the idea that if he's not going to be the face of playstation, nobody can. and now with the fighters seeing their worlds being erased one by one they come on the journey where they have to find the way to stop whoever is behind all this and find the way to restore their universe in the way they were before.

Dante vs Etna is fun and all, but I think Dante vs Raiden would be an amazing rival battle simply because it'd be Dante fighting a serious white haired katana user.

Important to note reboot Dante and Evil Cole were insisted on by Capcom and Sucker Punch. If a new game was made, since the reboot universe got canned and DMC 4 happened, I imagine classic Dante is assured. As for Cole, the fact a lot people hated him taking up two slots might convince Sucker Punch to keep it to one character.

I'd keep Polygon Man (I like the idea of a villain with a motivation stemming from the real world) and have the Colossus be a "Giga-Bowser" type of character, where you'd fight it under unique conditions.

Ideas for future Build the Roster episodes: 1) Nintendo vs Disney: possibility realism aside, considering these two companies have some of the most iconic characters in their respective mediums, and since they're basically the equivalents of each other, I think a crossover game between the two could be cool to theorize. You could just make it a Disney game if you want too. 2) If the first Smash Bros came out today: pretending the previous Smash Bros never existed, what would the roster of a Smash Bros game be like if it first came out this year (or next). 3) An indie game crossover fighter.

As much as I love FF7 and Tifa I think Vivi Ornitier would’ve been a better 2nd PlayStation Final Fantasy rep. Not only representing another popular game but being completely different than Cloud in visuals and moveset

One of the most magical things Nintendo did with the Smash rosters was modernize potentially super obscure characters from their older games and japanese-only properties. Anybody else remember playing that Brave Fencer Musashi demo on a playstation demo disk waaaay back in the day? I think Musashi would be super sick in one of these games.

The only real issue I have with your list here is that you didn't include Delsin Rowe or Lara Croft.

I appreciate the effort and industry know-how that went into this video, but I've gotta STRONGLY disagree with your "I couldn't think of a moveset" argument against The Prince. Sakurai made a moveset for the dog that laughs at you if you miss in Duck Hunt. SOMEONE could make a clever moveset for The Prince. Also, if Lucasfilm could have an entire pre-Rise of Skywalker event in Fortnite that tied into the actual film itself, I think Marvel would let Spidey be a DLC character in a family-friendly fighting game like this. Especially knowing that it was being worked on by the same company that published Spider-Man PS4. And if THAT went over well, I could imagine Disney Japan loosening their grip on Sora. The rest of your video is some A++ stuff though. THIS is what PAS should've been at the very start.

Make a "Project X Zone: The Fighting Game" video Imagine the insanity of it all. 4 Companies duking it out with The 4 OCs from Namco x Capcom and Project X Zone 1, for any potential Story to Focus on. Capcom, Namco, SEGA, and Nintendo (since they were in PXZ2 in a limited capacity). For Nintendo just assume after they got a taste test in 2, they'd allow for a full bore inclusion on this... This was pretty good. If you're taking suggestions for future episodes, then one I'd like to suggest is a potential sequel to Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion. Basically another mediocre Smash clone that could've been so much more.

Playstation Allstars Battle Royale is the PERFECT example of an "Over-Hated" game. This was before Smash was effectively finished as a franchise (At least for the time being) and the world was a LITTLE MORE ACCEPTING of "Smash-likes". Before the game even dropped, I distinctly and specifically remember how much hate it accrued for simply TRYING to exist. You couldn't go to reveal or promotional trailers online without the comments being FILLED with livid comments from Smash fans denouncing it as a "Smash clone" and deriding it from the top down. But then the game came out, and it DIDN'T play a whole lot like Smash; it had built in combos and strings and actively encouraged somewhat of a facilitated "Competitive" element (I put this in quotes because in the dev's own words, they WANTED it to be competitive), didn't rely on Ring-Outs as a method for defeating the opponent, Items and stage gimmicks were a little more nuanced and utility centric and its control scheme was not as intuitive as you'd think it would be. None of that mattered though, people went INTO the game expecting it to play like Smash due to their criticisms of it being a "Smash clone" and were ultimately disappointed when it DIDN'T play enough like Smash. It was incredibly frustrating for someone who JUST wanted to playa Brawler with Playstation Characters and didn't CARE about any of that or that it was a B-Tier game. But that wasn't enough, because in the background of this you had the other debates about its roster, people whining and moaning about Crash and Spyro not being present. Well, they TRIED. The devs were sweating in the background to get these IP's and people kept shutting the doors on them, and Sony was not backing them either. They were out in the wild with a game literally carrying the name "Playstation" in its title but NO ONE was willing to help them outside of the handful of IP's they did acquire. Had the game not been roasted from the start and been allowed to accumulate a fanbase, it could have potentially secured some of those IP's. It might have GOTTEN a sequel that would have allowed them to followup on their original ideas but with more support from Sony. But none of that happened. The entire thing was a passion project that everyone collectively turned their back on then gawked at its failure. And the people who actually ENJOYED the game or JUST wanted a Playstation Brawler were cucked. Right idea, wrong time. I don't think PAS is coming back. It was too negatively controversial and people crapped on the poor thing too hard. Sony looks back at this thing with shame and supporting a sequel is just going to be seen as a huge financial risk. I swear I just got a cool idea for Abe So, Snake has his codecs to where he has a talk with his fellow comrades, like Otacon, Mei Ling and Colonel Roy Campbell to talk about the fighters of smash that Snake is up against So what if they do that with Abe except instead of Abe talking to somebody. It’s instead a news cast from M.O.M (Magog on the Marge) from Abe’s Exoddus with a Slig detailing on some of the fighters. Hell, if villains are gonna be added (which might be a doubt idk) we could have the Slig talk about the villain but then the screen turns static and it transitions into a Glukkon (Possibly Molluck, Commander Dripig, V.P Aslik, or Dir. Phleg) giving their own thoughts about the villain in question. That’s just my idea though

I hope you let Kat from Gravity Rush return. I know this is just a fan-roster, and that GR is pretty niche, but it was my favorite game represented in the first PSASBR, and she had some of the funnest gameplay imho. EDIT: now that you did have her in (thanks, btw), I think you could’ve had a more interesting idea for her rivalry with Fat Princess. The second game had a running joke of Kat being really into food, and she’s technically a queen (albeit and amnesiac one), so she has more in common with FP than you gave her credit for. And on the subject of her rival, an interesting second rival for Kat would be Cole in a battle of electromagnetism vs gravity. She could also have a good echo fighter in the form of Raven, but I understand why you didn’t add her: not really a big enough franchise for two reps.

56:41 - 57:53 I've actually been conceptualizing how Abe could work in a PASBR 2 before you posted this video, and an idea I've had for him is that he could be an indirect fighter not unlike Phoenix Wright of MvC3 Ultimate. Like, Abe would still attack with his slap and tossing grenades, but most of his other attacks would be manifesting hazards and enemies from Oddworld to harm the other fighters for him; pulling switches (that suddenly pop in front of him) to cause saw blades to slice ahead, arcs of electricity to appear on his left and right, or as showcased in the video drop a boulder from above. Another attack could probably have Abe "accidentally" alert a Slog (Oddworld's version of guard dogs), which would then leap at and attack whoever is in back of Abe. Things like that. Although looking into Munch's Odyssey, the Captain Olimar approach is actually quite feasible as that game had Abe commanding troops of Mudoken to fight his enemies. The problem with this, though, is that not only was Munch not as famous (nor good) as the first two Abe games but was Xbox exclusive, so not sure it would be the best source to utilize for Abe in a Playstation fighting game. But I suppose it's worth it for any kind of moveset. For Abe's Supers, though, they definitely have to be... *Level 1*- Abe summons a Popper Slig or a Scrab (random chance of either), who he promptly mind controls, and opens fire/charges at anyone directly ahead of him. Fun idea I have with this Super is that Abe and his summon would respond differently depending on the outcome: if the Super was successful in hitting/killing anyone, Abe and the Slig laugh at their foe's expense. Or if the Scrab is summoned, it does its victory dance. But if the Super fails to hit/kill anyone, Abe growls in anger while the Slig does the "BS" sound, and the Scrab roars to the sky (which they do if failing to kill Abe IIRC). *Level 2*- My initial idea for this is that Abe drinks a can of SoulStorm brew, farts, possesses his fart cloud, and has it float around the battlefield. After a set amount of time passes, or the player presses a designated button, the fart cloud explodes in a massive radius. Although, I had actually come up with an alternative (likely preferable) idea of Abe instead summoning and possessing a Flying Slig, which he would then have fly across the stage and bombard the other fighters with grenades. In either case, Abe possesses something that flies and explodes lol. *Level 3*- The battlefield suddenly becomes that of Monsaic Temple with Abe in the center surrounded by a crowd of Mudoken, all of whom doing spiritual chanting. Abe looks around unsure before chanting alongside his fellow Mudoken, upon which their spiritual energies are channeled into Abe and the blue Mudoken transforms into the demigod Shrykull, frying every single combatant with divine lightning.

Elizabeth has already fought Yu on four different occasions in persona 4 arena, blazblue cross tag battle, persona q, and q2. I would like the see Elizabeth have fight with someone else. Edit: I’d be nice to see Yu go up against Dante. Wouldn’t be the first time a mega ten character and Dante square up.

I've seen a lot of dream rosters of Playstation Allstars and its rumored sequel but if I can combine all the roster ideas then it would be like smash ultimate if these roster builds for their names had already existed

Though what would have been hilarious to have as a rivalry out of the honorable mentions would have been Knack and Katamari Prince. I feel like I can make The Prince's move set work honestly. The mechanics for his character would be as follows: Square - Katamari Square: Katamari Spin Forward Square: Katamari Dash (tapping square repeatedly spins the Katamari faster and builds speed on the dash) Down Square: Katamari Bounce (flattens opponent) Up Square: Katamari Launch (Kicks the Katamari up at an angle - knocks opponent in the air) Square (In air): Arial Katamari Spin Forward Square (In air): Arial Katamari Dash Down Square (In air): Arial Katamari Bounce (Spikes opponent to the ground) Up Square (In air): Katamari Bash (kicks Katamari up at an angle - knocks opponent towards the wall) Triangle - Item Spawner Triangle: Small Objects (creates up to 5 small objects that can be rolled up to create a bigger Katamari, lose one item with each hit given/taken) Hold Triangle: Oblong Object (a long object will spawn, can be picked up and will make the Katamari roll off-balance and creates a long hit box but also slows down on upwards motion of the Katamari - gets knocked off [de-spawns] after hitting/getting hit by opponent or wall) Forward Triangle: Rat Trap (creates a rat trap that when touched, launches the Katamari forward quickly) Down Triangle: Human Object (creates a human from the game that will be knocked out when hit, launches in direction of hit and becomes a projectile, can be hit by opponent to hit back at The Prince) Up Triangle: Large Object (becomes a wall, cannot pick up, will roll the Katamari up and around the item to get around it while other characters must jump on or over the item) Triangle aerials (Same as the ground moves, spawns items on the ground) Circle - Launch Attacks (not sure how to name this one) Circle: Reversal (The Prince jumps over the Katamari and does a quick dash back) Forward Circle: Katamari Kick (sends the Katamari forward towards the wall, which then bounces off the wall back to The Prince) Down Circle: Counter (Katamari grows briefly and bounces character's attacks back like when the Katamari is of equal size to an object in game) Up Circle: Katamari Toss (throws the Katamari in an arc Throws: Left and Right Throw: Rollover (rolls over character and they get tossed off left or right) Up Throw: Toss off (Character gets knocked off as The Prince runs into a quickly placed large object that fades after hit) Down Throw: Katamari Crush (rolls character underneath and slams the Katamari down above the character stuck at the bottom Finishers Finisher 1: Rollup (Katamari grows in size, does a short dash and quickly rolls up anyone it hits) Finisher 2: Katamari March (Small swarm of Prince characters march through with Katamaris) Finisher 3: Kings Judgement (Characters appear rolled up on the Katamari in front of the king, Katamari then turns into a planet/constellations of the characters)

Oh shit this was created on my B-day? What a great gift! Humor aside I been wanting people to talk about PSASBR so much but every time I mention the discussion to smash. Hell smash recently put joker in and I was sad cause that means if he appeared in PSTABR they'd say "Oh it's just a smash clone." So I'm gonna list a few changes I make to the series that could spark discussion! 1.If I had to change the series first the title needs to change to something more recognizable. 2. the battle system could change to a MVC life bars and multiple specials.(say what you will about current MVC but they put alot of care into how the characters move and what they could do.) 3, People need to be more lenient on how much cash they have as a creator so when they can't afford crash. (like PSAS asked for cloud and was outright denied, smash asked and got it easily and even square's SSN and first borns) 4. I(Let's say they had lucky and got the cash .) Well to generate interest there would be DLC and every other character+music/stage combo would have one free dlc character. 5. Dissidia like talk intros to each character What do you think thus far?

There's something I think that could solve the two Coles thing in a possible sequel: Let both be in, but as a single character. They could add some sort of gimmick where, depending on which attacks he uses, a Karma Bar starts building towards a Good side and a Evil side, and when it reaches the max on either one, it turns Cole into either his Hero or his Villain form, giving him different movesets, just like in the original game. Personally I'd love to see some kind of attempt at another big Playstation crossover game. Playstation Move Heroes was... a game that exists... and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale was... also a game that exists... yeah playstation definitely needs an actually great crossover game

I feel like the two Coles in the game actually makes sense from how the developers explain it. A big part of the Infamous series is how you can push the main character into either a superhero or a supervillain. So in order to represent that two characters were needed. Although now how I would do it is that Cole will represent the good path while the main character of Second Son will represent the evil path. Also man if it wasn’t for Etna I would’ve used Valvatorez instead to specifically be Yu Narukami’s rival. Also also I feel like Dart from Legend of Dragoon should be in the roster as well. Not only because he was going to be DLC in the original game with Abe but there also needs to be more JRPG reps in the game.

There can be a Persona item where if a character holds the Arcana card, they will shout, "PERSONA!" A custom P3/P4 cut-in of the characters face will flash on-screen, and they will summon a random Persona like Jack Frost or Jack-O-Lantern. The custom cut-ins will be made by the Persona artist himself, Shigenori Soejima.

Tomba was considered in the scrapped DLC for the original game along with the Dart from legend of dragoon. I would want both in along with Gabe Logan from siphon filter, relevancy to modern generations be damned. I also hear that Chun-li was in consideration along with a Ryu Hayabusa. I also think that Delsein Rowe would be a nice trade out for Evil Cole and I think this new Lombax in the ipcoming Ratchet has potential. I see your point with Quark, but would honestly prefer her or Nefarious.

Enjoyed your roster for the most part. There's a few things that I disagree with but overall it's a pretty solid roster. Though I will say that Toro does not need to be cut. He may be obscure in the West, but he's Sony's official mascot in Japan. Not like Kratos or Ratchet where they're "unofficial", but an actual mascot. He kind of needs to be in.

In superbot's defense: the rooster wasn't what they wanted, more like what they could get, they couldn't afford crash, capcom was only interested in selling the reboot of dmc, and generally a lot of companies not trusting their ips to a newbie developer

"Radec is too generic" Yet there are a bunch of Sword Users. "Too Western-focused" Yet you cut Toro, Sony Japan's LITERAL mascot. Only 1 character in this lineup is supposed to be for Japan (Etna). "The Last Of Us is too dark" So is Bloodborne. So is God of War. So is Nioh. So is Ghost of Tsushima. So is Devil May Cry (eh, to a degree) yet they're all in. Though, this has to be my favorite roster. I don't agree with your choices, but the love for this is impressive.

To be honest, i like your roster, but you shifted your attention to the third party side of the console too much, so, i'll add mine: -Dart (Legend of Dragoon) -Raven (Gravity Rush) -Astrobot (Same fucking name) -Fetch (inFAMOUS) -Knack (i know you wanted to make him the Waluigi of this game BUT, the difference is that Knack has a moveset, he saved the world with two punches and one kick) -Joel (The Last of Us but only the first game, let's pretend the second one never existed) -Lammy (Parappa the Rapper) -Iota and Atoy (Terraway) -Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami (King of Fighters. I want them here because, if Tekken got Geese and Smash got Terry, then why not someone from KOF? They could even face each other in the rival battles) -Toro Inoue (Yes, i know you cut him but listen, you complain about the big focus on the western side of the brand but you cut Toro, a japanise mascot, from the roster. Being Sony, they won't cut him from the game at all, especially considering that he was the first option for DLC in Street Fighter X Tekken) -A custom character (i took the idea of PlayStation Home, the difference from the Miis is that there would be no classes, the playstyle is depending on the weapon you choose) This time, to make this game stand out more, let's change the gameplay to a tradicional fighting game, it makes more sense than having realistic humans bouncing around the screen, if they want to keep 4 players on the screen, make it 2v2 or 3v3 like Marvel Vs Capcom. The question is, what this game would do differently? Bring back the stage collision but also have the option to disable it for players who want a classic experience. For the story, because the rule for PlayStation is having some kind of narrative, i would take the narrative of Rift Appart. To resume, Nefarious tries to use the Dimensionator on Ratchet and Clank until Ratchet stupidly shoots it, causing masive chaos. Over time, this affects other PlayStation worlds and those heroes have to find out what's going on, simple stuff. Here, they will be divided on different groups depending on their similarities, for example, Kratos, Jin, the hunter and Aloy would conform one group, Ratchet, Jak and Sly Cooper would conform another, etc. Nefarious would be the base boss but a new face (or well, old face) would be joining, the rifts reach to a sealed dimension long ago which is where Polygon Man resides, but this time, he has a body instead of just being a head. To end this, not everyone hated this game, the most hate came from the close minded Smash fanboys who don't know the brawler sub-genre is even a thing, All-Stars wasn't good but it wasn't bad either and many people is begging for a continuation, who knows, i would even go to Sony to propose my idea.

If you are looking for a popular character not from FFVII, Yuna is your best bet! FFX was a big deal for the PS2 and she is crazy popular (particularly in Japan) and has placed 2nd only to Cloud in multiple polls. She could either be her X-2 gunner, or her classic summoner using her summons like she does in the Dissidia games. Another good choice would be Vivi from FFIX - super popular and black mages are very iconic to the series. That being said Tifa is also a great choice and I would main the heck out of her in this roster.

The stages are the best part, and if a sequel comes out, they better bring it back. And this won't fit the theme of the game, but what if other franchises that have been on the PlayStation, but are not PlayStation exclusive. Have Seattle from Infamous get invaded by racers from Split Second, which they cause the Space Needle to fall down onto the arena and alter it. And a personal one I want, have the Beast from Infamous punch Senator Armstrong's Metal Gear, forcing him to come out and punch a chunk out the Beast.
