How coincidental, I have been looking into the circumstances around Jill Dando's murder as I'd seemed to have totally forgot it was a head shot with a silenced pistol. I agree. She was living with her fiance and only went to her own home to check on the mail every now and then. Who besides the fiance knew she was going to be going to her house to check on it that day? Also, the fiance is on record saying he doesn't want authorities to investigate her murder anymore. Who says that about the murder of a loved one? Families and friends of murder victims want justice and want to find the killers. But not the fiance. So yes, I think this was a hit ordered by someone she knew. The "Serbian" theory is bullshit and just a diversion.

In the US, if the person that killed them didn't know them, it is unlikely the murder will be solved, although that is changing with technology a bit.

He tried to break into Diana's residence. He had an interest in firearms. I've heard from a 63-year-old who walked the route that your 39-y-o brother had time to kill Jill, go home and change then go to a building (taxi office I think) where they noted the time he was there. It was a year till his home was searched so he had time to get rid of the weapon/other evidence.
