Bill: SES alumni here. Thanks for the strong stand. In our verse by verse study on our channel, we are about to teach Sodom and Gomorrah and were wondering what would happen to us online here. Thanks for setting the example. Godspeed.

I remember seeing a RU-vid clip of a UMC conference in Tampa. The camera zoomed in on an elderly lady who was very defiant. She said, “I will not repent!” Then, she said it again, “I will not repent.” Was she admitting in a round about way that she was involved in error?

I would venture to say that,at this moment United Methodists church is not “the church of Christ “.. and should be considered as a false church of Christ.. am I correct in my statement? A new subscriber and happy to found this channel..!!!😊

They’ve been gaming these conferences for so many years. The wording they would use to sleight delegates to vote contrary to Scripture. They infuse their heresy behind their eloquent words

I thought the UMC was gone for over 30 years, but there is no way a man with any testosterone in his system at all could stomach this. They are probably all sitting there with their legs crossed sipping lattes.

They have been gone for decades.

The decline began when they allowed the divorced to remarry in the church and then, women clergy. They have moved the standard. The standard doesn’t exist any longer.

Good morning Bill! I enjoy and find your videos biblical and insightful - I watch most all of them quickly after they're posted. As I just started watching this one I wondered why you'd use Jordan Peterson as a voice over during the introduction when his approach to life is psychology and not biblical - and I think he continues to deny the deity and resurrection of Christ.

Thanks for the question. I use his quotes because of themselves they are true propositions. Nothing more.

I agree. Peterson is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Too many people think he’s a Christian and too many Christians give him shade. As things stand he’s very dangerous. I’ve had to deal With this issue with my youth group. They were talking about him as a Christian psychologist

James Lindsay is someone who promotes a lot of things antithetical to what we believe and he is also given a lot of cover from Christians.

@@danielwarton5343Hello Daniel! I'm still praying for you and your woke culture in the UK. I pray you and your brothers in Christ are doing well in your exegetical studies. God bless you, brother.

Hi Bill Thank you for this. I do really enjoy your talks and find them valuable. I don’t quite agree with the reasoning about letting women teach leading to allowing homosexuality. The argument the people who allow women teachers make is that it was only to the cultures Paul wrote whereas the homosexuality issue is addressed in the OT. They’d skirt around by saying the two are different as one is explicit in the OT whereas the NT is different given that it was including gentiles and there were different practices in the gentile world. I don’t agree with women teaching at all but I have friends and family members who do go along with it based on their hermeneutic, whereas they’d never accept homosexuality as it’s a clear moral objection rather that time and place specific.

Which resources do you use to justify that notion?

@@DrBillRoach sorry, I don’t know what you mean. I agree wholeheartedly with you, and the Bible. I’m thinking of how those I know who accept female pastors would justify their position and say that they don’t agree with homosexuality as acceptable in the church. I have many family members who would hold that position.

The insistence on uncritical acceptance within certain religious communities, particularly regarding their stance on LGBTQ+ rights, raises profound questions about the nature of belief and the influence of upbringing in shaping our understanding of what is 'natural.' It's curious, isn't it, how one can be born into a religion, yet rarely question the cultural and environmental biases that this religion instills from birth? For what is natural? What makes homosexuality unnatural? The leap from believing in a Creator to the necessity of worship strikes me as a non sequitur that demands more rigorous scrutiny. Is it not problematic to ascribe human attributes to a divine being? Such anthropomorphism seems to diminish the transcendence of the divine, potentially reducing the deity to a mere reflection of human prejudices and political agendas. Moreover, there is a concerning paradox in how religious doctrine is often used to justify control and suppress dissent. This mechanism not only stifles critical thinking but also fosters a form of cognitive dissonance where followers are encouraged to ignore or rationalise contradictions within their faith and its practices. Have you considered how hell could be used as a fear tactic and a tool to control subjects within a society? For how do we know that heaven and hell exist? Because it is written in a book 2000 years ago, and we were brought believing in it? This seems implausible. I find the condemnation of LGBTQ+ individuals and movements particularly troubling. Such stances are not only at odds with the compassionate and inclusive teachings attributed to Jesus Christ-who, according to the Gospels, reached out to those marginalised by society-but also indicative of a broader reluctance within the church to introspect and evolve. Rejecting LGBTQ+ rights under the guise of faith does not merely reflect cognitive dissonance; it is a profound misrepresentation of the very principles of love and acceptance FOR ALL preached by Christ. It is imperative for believers to critically examine these discrepancies. What might they discover about their faith and its real-world implications if they did? I ask you to be open-minded and, for a second, reconsider the foundation of morality. Traditionally, many have assumed that morality is derived directly from God. However, if we explore the possibility that morality is rather a construct of human society, designed to dictate how we should coexist, we can approach moral questions with a different perspective. According to this view would you agree that, for an action to be moral or immoral, it must be a conscious decision that affects others, either positively or negatively? If you agree, under such a framework, homosexuality, being a consensual act between adults, does not inherently qualify as moral or immoral-it simply is. It doesn't negatively impact the participants; thus, labeling it immoral under these criteria is unfounded. This raises a broader question: Why is there such fervent opposition to the LGBTQ+ movement among certain religious groups? How can one be so certain of their religion's exclusive correctness that they dismiss other perspectives out of hand? This certainty often seems more about comfort and less about truth-seeking. Accepting beliefs simply because they are convenient or comforting is not just intellectually lazy; it borders on cowardice. True philosophical inquiry requires challenging one’s assumptions and confronting uncomfortable (or in this case beautiful and freeing) truths. Dear humans, it is easy to look out at the world and see its divisions but not so easy to look inwards and examine our own contradictions and lapses of judgement. I ask you to use your rationality on this finite time on planet Earth to re-think internal prejudices. Put yourself in the shoes of the other and wonder what it would be like to have people protest against what you cant help but find attractive. Do you really want to prevent their ability to love others? Again I am on the quest for truth and I am happy to reconsider my position within reason :)
