Maggie took a page from her dead husband. Glenn hides under the dumpster to save himself from the zombies, Maggie hides under the subway to save herself from the zoms.

The whole zombies eating brains thing was popularized by Return of the Living Dead But the zombies in Walking Dead and in most zombie media just want to eat your whole body. Besides how would a zombie crack a human skull open?

With Negan, all he had to do was grab her hand, that wouldnt put him or the entire group in danger. But with Gage, opening the door risks everyones lives and Gage made it clear that he didnt care about them that much since he took all their ammo and supplies. So while it seems the same as what Negan did, I think its more complicated

It’s not the brain but just fresh blood which is why they don’t eat each other. Maggie’s story is from a horror movie

Maggie not saving gage was more complicated than it seems tho, they were gonna have to bust the door to open it meaning they couldn’t close it afterwards and like she said they didn’t have the ammo to clear the hoard. Gage dug his own grave when he abandoned them

You noticed the paintings in the tunnels, messed with Daryl in some way. He looks like he was annoyed.

My explanation for zombies not eating the brains is that this show is set in a universe where zombies don’t exist, I guess therefore it means that walkers don’t have to act the exact same. Also we’ve seen some walkers eat brains before on the show, we can see it happen to a saviour in season 8 episode 3.

Negan is so delusional, acting like Maggie doesn’t have a reason to hate him and want him dead. 😭 What makes Maggie different from Negan is the person in the situation who needed help. Up until now, Maggie has objectively did nothing wrong against Negan to make him whine as much as he was; he had no reason to leave her for dead and that only validates her rightful hatred for him. Gage on the other hand was an asshole teenager who not only attacked Lydia last season, but ran away from the group and took their supplies in the previous episode. I just think the context is different and that Negan is a hypocrite for thinking he’s above letting their people die when that’s what he knowingly did at least once in season 8. I know that people here can’t stand my ranting comments and sound arguments against Negan, but the way the show/story treats his character now is one of the biggest things that I admit to being an unapologetic hater of. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ll try to contain myself though lol

You have to understand BOTH Sides when it comes to Maggie & Negan. I get Negan not wanting to help her, but it’s not like she walked up to him & basically said “I’m a kill you”... He’s scared. She’s Savage. He took the love of her life from her. So, how do you expect her to feel towards him? I wouldn’t forgive him either. Her son will never know his father because of NEGAN! She doesn’t have to forgive him, but I definitely don’t want her to kill him. Maggie not saving Gage actually gave them more time to try & open the other doors... if they would have open that door to help him.. that door may not have closed or the walkers probably would have gotten in a lot sooner than what they actually did. Saying she’s not better than Negan is a little much! The point of her story was to basically say.. “I’ve seen some sh*t. I’ve been through some sh*t. & it all changed me!” She’s not just surviving for herself anymore, she now has a son to protect & put before herself.

Gage stole a bag a supplies (and probably a gun, ammo) before he ran away with other random old dude, separating from the initial group for some reason. Also, he was one of the kids of Hilltop who bullied and had beaten Lydia up. Didn't gave two fucks about him. Love my queen Maggie tho lmao

I honestly think Rick would've done the same if he'd been in Maggie's position. Gage betrayed them, lost the supplies and then brought the walkers right to them. And Maggie was right, they didn't have the ammo to clear them all, if it wasn't for Daryl they would've died all thanks to Gage. Also, the point of her story was to explain what her mindset it like after spending so much time out there and seeing so much shit. She was completely desensitized to what she saw in that house, she knows how horrific the world is and she wants to protect Alexandria at all costs.

Remember that Eugene is the greatest liar when his life is on the line. Btw: She is obviously not Stephanie

The reapers at the end looked like they were wearing clothing that look like what they wear in the purge.

French zombies eat brains, its a delicacy there, but American zombies only eat them with ketchup.

As far as the zombie and brains thing, there's just different types of zombies that exist in different mediums. For example, you have walking dead zombies, last of us zombies, resident evil zombies, and the classic Romero zombie which you guys are referencing with the brain eating. All similar, but each with their own mannerisms that make them unique from each other. Some are fast, some are slow, some are still partially alive, some are caused by a parasitic virus (like in 28 days later). It just depends on what show/movie you're watching or what game you're playing, really.

Gage was a bully to Lydia and then takes supplies and runs. He was a coward and was always just awful, no way I would have opened for him based on that alone.

Tbh I'm still mad about Maggie letting Gage die like that. She's heartless and not any better than Negan. He was just a dumb kid from Hilltop and he deserved better than a bunch of people on the other side of the door not trying to save him. I think her sob story afterward added no value at all.

I suppose walkers eat whatever organs or meat they can when a human is dying (or being killed by them). But the skull is hard enough, so those rotten corpses cant broke it. (Unless the skull is already broken by a bullet or bat or something). (And in that case, of course the subject would not come back as a walker). So, not a plot hole by any means.

Late reply but it was a movie from 1985 called Return of the Living Dead (honestly a great movie btw horror comedy classic) that literally invented the entire brain eating thing. The other 'of the Dead' films never had anything to do with brain eating, they were originally flesh-eating ghouls as was most zombie media before and after up til now even. its important to note Return was an unlicensed spinoff and Romero had nothing to do with it. But it was literally such an iconic film it influenced the entire genre since.

So I actually kind of agree with Maggie when it came to Gage. We saw earlier how much of a struggle it was to open the doors because they were heavily rusted. They would not have been able to open and close the door in time to stop the walkers.

Zombies eating brains was only in Return of the living Dead. Some parodies probably did it too though. romero zombies never do that though, which is what these zombies are.

Zombies do not exist in the Walking Dead world, they are all living in a world where no ones ever heard of a zombie movie, game, show etc. that’s also why they never call them Zombies. And not all Movies with rising of the dead eat brains.

Ooh! Wouldn't that be interesting Molly, if towards the end of the show, we find that not only are there multiple townships (or districts) but people are living like the people in the Hunger Games movies? If the spinoff still has a green light, then you could upgrade TWD story by adding more layers and different ways people have managed to rebuild in order to survive. Going by Maggie's dark story, it just reminds us once again that if you thought people we were past the sickos like the cannibals, think again. Because in order to have made it this far, there are people who are even more sick and twisted. We've got creepy, murderous rapists out there keeping woman hostage and doing beyond gross and disturbing things to them like in Maggie's story encounter. Right now, for some reason I pictured a world like Mad Max: Fury Road and The Hunger Games. Yikes 😬 Who are the Reapers? Who are the Commonwealth? That's what we need to determine. We know The Reapers kill onsite and they're super stealthy and tactical. The Commonwealth has storm troopers who capture, interrogate and judge to see if one should be imprisoned, killed or become part of their community. I'm not sure if we're going to like what the world has become now that we know there are lots of survivors (aka townships). This is all so interesting and a bit scary. My mind is thinking up so many things right now lol. Gonna stop. Anyways, I have already pictured how the show will end. In my mind, it's epic lol. I'll let you guys know when we get to the end. A theory I have: (spoiler for the comics) I think Gage called Maggie “Liar” to foreshadow her becoming like the governor through a slippery slope of good intentions. Or at the very least, she gets Dwight’s arc/death from the comics

Zombies don't eat brains, they eat flesh. The whole brains thing is from a comedy horror movie that wanted to change things up a bit. Those zombies spoke too. The zombies in this show function the way zombies are supposed to. 🙂

I don’t think the walkers are strong enough to get to the brain. The skull from a fresh body would be too tough.

I can see why Negan left Maggie. He believes, with good reason, that she will take him out the first chance she gets and she's already trying to do it by putting him into dangerous situations. So from his point of view, he's just trying to save his own ass. He's redeemed at this point if you ask me, but he's still Negan. Lol.

Zombies are totally different from walkers they don’t eat the brain because then it will instantly kill the human body they like the guts better because it will not instantly kill the human body that’s why I walkers only eat the guts or any part of the body and not the Brain zombies are a whole different logic walkers are way different and I feel realistic then zombies

I don’t get why maggie is so savage now , what even happened to her in the time jump … it woulda made more sense for her to be this savage after Glenn’s death or if she witnessed Tara and Enid’s death

Honestly, I thought the reaper was beta to because of how he pulled those knives out of his eyes like Jason Voorhees but it looks like it is not because we all witnessed beta getting devoured by walkers in joy :)

From this point on, for the rest of this episode, I only had one thought "Why isn't Maggie killing Negan? Why isn't she killing right NOW? What about NOW? WHY IS SHE NOT KILLING NEGAN? WHY IS NEGAN STILL ALIVE? " Etc etc etc. I just couldn't get over that plothole. This would have only worked if Negan saved her, so she would spare him for a bit longer.

Another plot hole for me is... I know that Gage was a bit coddled and protected as a kid, but... You survive 10+ years in the apocalypse... YOU HAVE A WEAPON.. All of the Walkers are coming towards you from a single direction, which is GOOD.. And he doesn't even TRY to fight them off? HOW THE HECK DID HE SURVIVE THIS LONG? LOL
