Although Las Vegas is an amazing place to visit for a vacation, and a great place to be living in, like any large metro area, it does have its bad neighborhoods. When you are planning your trip to Sin City, looking for things to do, tips to save money, how to do Vegas cheap, what hotel you stay in, etc. you will want to keep safety in mind. This video is full of advice that you can use when you are planning your vacation activities. I show you several places near the tourist areas during the daytime and nighttime so that you can make the best decision for your vacation, whether you are a single man or woman solo traveler, a couple, or a family bringing their kids to Vegas. Even though these neighborhoods overall have high crime, and many locals will tell tourists to avoid them, we are also going to highlight several of the positive aspects in each spot as well. The video will focus more on the strip and downtown (Fremont Street area), and not the outer areas or North Las Vegas or Henderson.

@@thoticcusprime9309 Easy actully. This area used to be a tent city, a change in city laws changed this. A lost couple drove through and was trying to get help finding a place that wasn't on google maps. Most of the homeless were ignoring them or had no idea where they were trying to go. I knew the place and gave them the directions. They offered to get me some food, I asked if they would instead buy me a ticket to my mother's place on the otherside of the country. They did so after I gave them my mother's number to confirm that I was welcome. I now have my GED, a job and a two-bedroom apartment that I share with my two cats. I'm now working on my getting my IT certification.

We lived near stratosphere back In 2007. Me and my husband would walk to the bars late at night into the early morning hours. We were asked for money at times, but never ran into any problems. We learned to be aware of our surroundings but mind our own business at the same time, be polite and just keep walking. Always good to carry some kind of protection with you just in case though.

I was at the Sahara last month and decided to go past the Strat not knowing what's out there. Felt like it just suddenly changed into some new open world game. I saw lot of encampments, arguments, sirens, and seemed like all the houses there had metal door gates. Went into Walgreens and saw lot of interesting people doing interesting things. Luckily it was in the day time. This video was nice to validate what I saw lol

DON'T do like I did - strand yourself in Jacob's #2 area between Fremont Street & the strip! I arrived in LV a day ahead of my family & friends & decided to shuttle to the Fremont St. Experience. I stayed late, then hopped the Deuce to go back to my room on the strip. I needed to refill the wallet & was just going to get off the bus, walk to my bank ATM, then get back on. But I didn't have to walk far to see it was not a safe part of town at night. Maybe not any time! So I walked back to the bus stop & waited. And waited. Then looked at the bus schedule & learned that the busses don't stop there after midnight! I didn't have Uber or Lyft at the time, so just Google mapped it & started walking. I realized that walking w my nose in my phone was a sign that I was a tourist & lost, which would attract unwanted attention. There were a few crazy people out wandering the dark, but I could see The Strat sticking up, SO I just stepped out w some confidence & did my best to make my way into well lit, populated areas instead of the dark residential streets. I made it to another bus stop at the top of the strip near The Strat & hopped another Deuce back to my room feeling lucky to be alive & unhurt! Lesson learned.

one of my gay friends told me, he was walking on charleston west of downtown a few years ago, i think he was lost, and a car with gangmembers pulled up and robbed him at gunpoint, he hates vegas, he won't even go for a weekend now.

I tried to sign a 6 month lease in area #3 back in 2017....i worked at a 4 star restaurant within walking distance....i have good credit and had no problem paying the entirety of the lease amount up front...i drove maybe a 10,000$ nissan at the time so nothing out of the ordinary for a middle class dude but for some reason they refused to rent to me....couldnt tell you why but i think it was for my own protection....

I walked from the luxor to the outlets at 5am once because I didn't know the area it was an eerie walk for parts of it. it is crazy how vegas can go from obscene world class opulence to apocalyptic desolation in a matter of the length of a football field.

The zoning in Vegas is a joke. You can be in sight of a multimillion dollar casino like Texas Station and be standing next to a goat pen. You can own a house in a Homeowners Association neighborhood, and you might get your own car towed away if you park it in your own driveway. Vegas stinks. You can keep it.

For 13 years I live right by the Strip and this video is spot on. What I noticed here in Vegas is that you can live in fancy 2 million dollar place and just one block down the road the neighborhood changes to a high crime area. The first two years I lived in a high rise with best view on Naked City. Back then it was really wild, so I watched CSI-Las Vegas "live" from my balcony every night with SWAT teams getting into those houses etc... However, a few years later some investors just bought most those houses and got rid of them. So nowadays it is still not a good area but much better. An other area you didn't mention is the block between Karen Ave, Sahara, Joe W Brown and Marryland which is pretty wild at night (I have the view on that area now).

My apartment used to be on Karen and Eastern on the third floor, facing west. The view from my balcony was amazing on New Years Eve but all day you could also see all the crazy people roaming the neighborhood and screaming at nothing. Sad.

I live now at the Turnberry Towers high rise and have a good view on what is going on at night on the block between Karen and Sahara (for example behind the Eureka Casino). Trust me it is pretty bad at night. If you don't belive this, just walk by there at 2am. lol. I've filmed a lot of videos of all this from my balcony during the last 9 years. Even filmed one which was later shown on the news (police was in a gun fight with a guy, they shot him later when he drove to Las Vegas Blvd) You can not see this from your house, but did you never wonder why the hell the police helicopter is always flying around in this area?

Ive lived in so many different parts of Vegas that I've almost become desensitized to a certain amount. Ive lived in naked city and had to walk to my apartment from the las vegas blvd/Charleston busstop and had to learn to "deal" with certain people along the way. Its not fun, but at a certain point you start to recognize the struggle and humanity in everyone around you. Everyone is just trying to survive.

I walked around the Naked City. I was leaving Freemont Street. I couldn't figure out where to get the bus to go to the strip, so I figured I'd walk to the Strat to get to the bus. I walked around the Sahara, by the 7-11. I finally got an Uber where I thought it might be Ok to wait. The driver said that I shouldn't have walked there, it's dangerous.

I walked through most of these spots when I was in Vegas. I wanted the real feel of the city, not just the glitz and glamour. I didn't really feel unsafe anywhere, it was just rundown. I did however see a homeless person stab another homeless person. The response time by the ambulance was remarkable.

I lived in Vegas and was born here. I lived in the Spring Valley area by the waterpark. Now im in the northish area by the NLV Airport. It was a huge change in scenery. I use to live by Rhodes Ranch so that was one of the safest areas in Vegas in live in besides Henderson and a few other areas, although, technically not Las Vegas. Anyways since moving, I have to literally watch myself and where I step when i walk out of the house now. Where i live isn't secure, which leads to me walking out every day and seeing homeless tents pitched up outside my home. Homeless junkies screaming, running down alleyways, And tweaking to high hell is some of the experiences I had living here. One person was sitting on my front door with her back leaned against the wall. her first words were "its my hair its just my hair im waiting for my ride"????? I literally shut the door and contemplated on how to respond to this woman before just calling the non emergancy number, management eventually kicked her out and she left. But I have seen the absolute worst from Las Vegas and its best. In reality. We do not have a government in the city of Vegas to really help the homeless crisis and the major crime issues sprees. I am convinced we just stopped caring honestly. Just like good ole America! We donate trillions to our military, But wont even donate to help get the homeless housing or help our citizens. Change needs to happen. before we all start worrying about walking out of our house like I am.

It was your lack of local government leadership that allowed this to happen. It could have been prevented in that this homeless stuff is of relatively recent vintage. The liberals have empowered this situation through neglect and de facto enablement. It is not the federal government business to solve a local self imposed situation. There is a reason that LV is one of the biggest destination for the bums and drug addicts.

I visited Vegas just last year because I was working for a month in that city, it’s no joke that you very quickly walk from area nice tourist attraction areas to desolate drug-infested wasteland, sometimes it’s just a matter of walking down the wrong street. But even in some of the most crime ridden places in America, you’re not gonna see a crime every time you’re there. As long as you exercise caution and don’t stand out in these areas, chances are even if something does happen, you won’t be affected. Crime is always a game of chance.

Very informative! As a 45 year resident I have to say that the best times when housing was affordable, free meals, a wonderful affordable place to live. Things are so out if hand I just hate it here. There is so much greed and pompous integrity they charge you for everything at resorts now! Sad truth is I just don't go out anymore. There is nothing to see no where to go that doesn't just pisss you off!

When I got there in 1998, you could go eat like a pig at a casino buffet for cheaper than it would be to cook your own meals. In 15 years that all changed. By the time I left in 2014, the good deals were all gone.

I visited Vegas this past June…… Tried to save money on an Uber by walking from the Strat to Fremont. It’s was soooo poorly lit and sketchy and homeless people were giving me the stare down. Once I got to Fremont it was a whole different vibe. I walked through unscathed so I never thought much of it but this video made me realize how serious things could have gotten 😱. @@jasonmarisco9019 If you go again investigate the bus they call "The Deuce" It runs straight down the strip and will take you anywhere you are likely to want to go, from way past Mandalay Bay in the south all the way to north to Fremont St downtown. They sell tickets from vending machines on the street. You can get multi day passes. The only downside is they can get very crowded.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I was there first in 1969. It was great. The International Hotel (later the LV Hilton) had just opened. Still okay in 1971 and 1973. Still okay in 1976 to 1978. But not at all okay today. Folks who claim otherwise are but fooling themselves.

Excellent reporting and tries to fairly show the good and the bad of these neighborhoods. My uncle and his wife moved to LV in the 1950s after they married because they liked the vibe of the city and saw the potential for employment and the ability to buy a reasonably priced home in the area. My uncle drove a delivery truck and my aunt worked in a gift shop. He noticed that the hotels had a growing demand for laundry services. They did laundry on-site but also needed external help. He started his own business picking up laundry, transporting to a laundry facility and then returning with loads of clean sheets. They ironed sheets in those days and my aunt got a job doing that. Before he died in 1996 he said that in the back in the days of the Mafia in LV (I'm not glorifying this period only relating a story) the city was clean and safe, you could walk anywhere at night and not be menaced or disrespected. They are both dead now but really enjoyed that early time period in their life.

I completely agree. Just as an example, watch Casino. It featured Vegas as very classy and respectful. The people all had to dress formal. And you just knew the mob wanted everyone to feel safe so they could return. They patrolled the streets. After the Fed took Vegas away from the mafia, any bum from the neighborhoods shown could walk in wearing a death metal rock t-shirt, holes in jeans, and sandals could walk in and nobody will say anything.

I have lived in Chicago all my life and My friend and I did the same thing. Just went walking wherever we wanted and didn't feel afraid because we didn't know it was more dangerous. Sure it looked a little more run down and had some shady characters but Chicago isn't any different.

This was very well done, felt more like a TV news documentary than a RU-vid video. Im going to Vegas first time in 5 years this month and good to know this. I suspect its a lot different now than back then

Being the mailman who delivers to that area, (Cincinnati, Cleveland, Baltimore) I have been harassed, followed by a dude with a pipe cause he thought I was spying on him, and threatened to be kidnapped cause I didn’t have someone’s stimulus check, I would say it’s not the best area

Going on 10 years living in Vegas, urban explored a ton of abandoned places and the underground tunnels. I will say as a woman no matter if I'm exploring or going to store, I never go alone, ever! Each time I've walked somewhere alone I've been grabbed at during the day but thankfully I defend myself like a wild animal biting, kicking and screaming loud as I can. Taking Brazilian jiu-jitsu this year!!

Try 10th planet vegas. Best JiuJitsu fighters/coaches in the game right now. Training isn’t as brutal as it sounds. And they make sure you learn the basic fundamentals before they just throw you on the mats and make you spar.

I have been coming to Vegas several times a year for 2 decades. I always have a rental car so location is not an issue for me. I generally stay at the Strat because it is a decent place and has reasonably priced rooms. I am there mainly to play in poker events and spending bankroll on a high end room is not needed. The instant I saw you standing on "West Boston Avenue" I could not help but laugh. I have driven through that hell hole hundreds of times over the years, as I drop back to Industrial Ave to avoid the strip and quickly zip up and down to whatever casino I need to be at. I can get from Strat to Aria in 10 minutes even with the strip jammed for hours. Over the years I have seen a LOT go down back there on that stretch of road. Drug deals, fights, Hookers, Gang Members flashing colors, a crazy guy throw a brick at a car (not mine thank God), police many times. I always know that if the car breaks down I am in big trouble especially at night. That area is WAY better now than even 10 years ago. I don't feel nearly as on edge going through there these days. 10 or 15 years ago it was probably the biggest "gamble" of my trips to Vegas. 🤣

I started laughing when you mentioned Charleston and Las Vegas Blvd when that homeless guy approached the car I've seen that same guy everyday for years by the motel. I worked downtown Fremont security for about 2 years so that was pretty spot on.

TUPAC was shot on Flamingo near Koval, there's a memorial on a giant light pole just off the sidewalk , it has people's signatures from all over the world, some writing their condolences and others just leaving messages to PAC, i passed it about 6 to 8 times over the years before i knew what it was.

I lived in Vegas from 1978 to 1980. I attended Valley High School and my school bus stop was at the corner of Twain and Swenson, which is now one of the worst neighborhoods you listed in your video! It was beautiful and very safe when I went to school there. So sad that the neighborhood got so bad.

I cannot believe how much Las Vegas has changed since the "big build" in the '90s. I lived in Las Vegas during the '80s and '90s. Most of the neighborhoods mentioned in your videos were fine and many of my friends and employees lived in those areas. I was a 20-something female and would go to Jerry's Nugget alone all the time and spend the night drinking and gambling then stumble home. I lived in North Town and would walk there alone from my apartment about 20 minutes away. They also had the best prime rib dinner deal in The Valley. I can completely confirm that the dealers knew what they were doing. If they liked you, you would walk away with extra money in your pocket. I always won there. This was before triple decks and shoes. I loved living there. Las Vegas was very good to me.

Now that area, on Owens and LV Blvd. is a new Amazon warehouse, which makes it less scary than that desert lot that used to be there. Still, the area is scary right there at Owens, and Tonopah, where mexican titty bar Chicas Bonitas is, along with the titty bar Palomino Club. Of course, you have St. Vincent homeless shelter there across from the cemetery. The Woodlawn Cemetery is ok!! My brother, who is in Heaven now, and used to be homeless, told me once that the cemetery is some of the most sound sleep he's ever had! He said it was very peaceful to sleep in that cemetery. Of course! it is concecrated earth. It is hallowed ground. No bad spirits near that cemetery!

I went to UNLV from 2011-2014 and lived in the Rebel Place off-campus apartments on Swenson my first year. I used to hit up the 711 and other food spots on Twain quite a bit and was never really phased by anything as I had grown up in some rough parts of Southern California. Only time I ever got shook was one night pulling an all nighter I hit up the Jack in the Box on Swenson and Flamingo like at 1 AM. Right after I ordered, this dude pulled up on me at the drive window PLEADING with me me to give him a ride because someone was trying to kill him and he had warrants out for his arrest (Dude looked like he had seen a ghost). The guy he was running from yelled from a distance “Don’t give him s--, he called me (racial slur)”. The girl at the pickup window told me “Drive off. The guy he’s running from from has been here before and he has a knife.” I pulled off without even getting my food. I then realized, maybe this isn’t a good area and I shouldn’t be out this late lol.

I lived in Las Vegas from 2011 to 2012 and you are right. The neighborhoods you named are dangerous and were MORE SO back then. The tunnel community fascinates me. It did back then also. Las Vegas at night is not a place you want to be except for the Strip, but I never went to the strip the entire time I lived there. So, I was familiar with the dangerous areas and the homeless community, which often times would step right between driver windows and drive through windows at food places to beg for money and food. My son was hit in the head with a brick by a guy who wanted his music player. When I first got there I stayed at that exact Segal Suites you showed in the Twain/Swenson area. I didn't know any better but learned quickly and got an apartment within two weeks LOL

So very sad I left Las Vegas in 2004 and these areas were becoming quite drastic at that time and now I see that nothings changed but just gotten worse that's so very sad with all the money in those casinos in that town they do not invest in the properties around them to help the community when unfortunately a lot of them are in that situation because they try their luck spend their money on those hotels unfortunately lose Vegas is a sad situation has been for many many years he brought that to my mind today God bless be safe

Lived in Vegas 9 years. All over the place except south basically. I can say , being on the streets down there a few years , that the two most violent places you don't want to be at as a visitor is Paradise/Twain & Charleston/LVB (places you might end up, being in close proximity of the strip). Honorable mentions not by the strip is Boulder Highway and some Bonanza neighborhoods.

I came from Australia to Vegas in ‘98. my first mainland American experience. Lived by the corner of Cambridge and Sierra Vista. I remember the cops would drive by and stop saying shouldn’t be in the area, said i lived there… I remember the sierra pointe apartments used to be gated, only open on one end to stop drive bys. There were cameras on the apartment buildings and the police would come over the speakers telling people to disperse… surreal introduction experience to America…

We were at the TI in July where we usually stay at least once a year, and this summer it was really noticeable how much of the strip was overrun by homeless who in many cases seemed to need help with mental illness. At one point I was going to cross the pedestrian bridge from by the TI towards Trump and the Big Mall and the area around that pedestrian bridge had a number of homeless that seemed to need help around the stairs. Also, one afternoon returning to the hotel and crossing between the Mirage and TI a pair of homeless started screaming at each other and fighting in the middle of the strip and at about the same time there was a homeless man taking a bath in the mirage by the volcano. It was the first time in many years I did not feel safe on the strip. Sad.
