Hey Tom, I heard you have a Cycad at home. Be aware that they are highly toxic to Dogs if they eat them. My sons Husky, when it was a pup, took a liking to the fresh light green fronds when the plant was having a growth spurt. A weekend Vet stay, and $1500 later the Dog survived, but it was touch and go for some time. I never knew this, and Ive had them all my life at various places where I've lived. Hope this helps someone.
So when drunk around the fire, carrying on, the Backpack wasn't misplaced, instead the "Dingo did it". C'mon mate I think I've heard that one somewhere before. 😜🤣
My wife always gives me a VERY hard time for keeping EVERYTHING I value most on my person, when I am out. Not in the car, not on/in the bike. With that said, I never have anything of significant value stolen or lost.
Donkeys wild all over the NT. Got a place in Katherine called donkey camp where there used to be donkey yards. A couple break loose don't take em long to breed like rabbits.
10 years living in the NT mainly Alice Springs, yeah basic rules camping. Yes if it's not the wild dogs/dingos or bored kids in town. You gotta keep an eye on your gear 24/7. Sad as it's become, why we moved away.
@Bob Sacamano No they do, they just don't chortle a business balls for selling an inferior product. You don't spend $200+ on a piece of kit to then have to repair it the first time you use it...
Hey Tom, due to its light weightness, would you buy a husky 701, if the 250 died, I have seen you ride with the guy on a 701, how is the reliability, realise the maintenance intervals a little less. Appreciate your thoughts.
There’s no room for pc bullshit when things are taken at two seperate camps. Someone’s gone through your bags and taken the back pack. But we’ve seen the trip up until now so spoiler alert you must get it handed in right? Another great vid man
Its sad the times we now live in that you can't even ride n camp and leave ya gear at camp have some dinner with beers because some low life seems entitled to go though people's property. The dingo now thats just upsetting possessions come and go but memory's cards last forever.
Airtag won't work out in the middle of nowhere, it needs to connect to a phone (any phone), so someone will have to walk close to the backpack for it to ping a location. Of course it can help if you're close by it and you miss it, but if it's taken more than a few meters into the bush, it's toast.
That sucks major balls, but seriously though, didn't you have some sort of tracker inside, and also some dingo deterrent, like wolf/lion piss or something...
Yep, dingo stole my sausages on Fraser Island in the 80's It literally opened a latch on the esky. The same trip I saw a dingo bite a girls leg. Bastards...
Haven't read all the comments but did anyone tell him that his backpack was more likely stolen.. his time would be better spent taking a look at the other people staying at the camp site.
Yeah but other people won't necessarily steal your pasta and drop it 30m from camp. Tom states in the video that the ranger also mentioned dingo's taking stuff so you can quite confidently say the dingo's have taken it :)
Unless the dingo has an apple device.. no.. they require apple devices near them to send their location. And even then.. That apple device needs to be connected to the internet in order to send that location.. in the outback... so even if you'd stick an iPhone in the backpack too, it wouldn't necessarily work. Only within xx meters would the AirTag be findable using bluetooth, perhaps 10 meters or so.. so again, not the most useful.
